So the whole overarching theme of light fall is that in someway shape or form humanity is going to lose something. Weather we actually lose the light light or not is up for debate, but we can see in the lore that Elsie Bray watched the traveler leave the city in a previous timeline. Here’s the thing, does our guardian actually get his light from the traveler? During the red war we connected to the shard of the traveler to get our light back, and every time we regained a subclass we didn’t go to the traveler, we went to the shard. And the fact that the shard was able to grant us light even though the main traveler was contained leads me to believe the shard is it’s own entity, and it never reconnected with the traveler. So my question is how big of a role, if at all, will the shard of the traveler play in the future of Destiny2?

We use the sword-logic and kill the Shard of the Traveler to make us god-level and absorb all its power...

Why can’t we just break off a tiny little bit from the traveller just in case of an emergency, seems like a smart idea especially seeing as it can seemingly heal itself

I ated it

7 RepliesAnything from the Traveler is part of the Traveler. During the Red War the Traveler interfered with the Outcome of Events by giving us a Vision to the Shard in which was Detached long ago. That same power is connected to the Shard, basically a Severed Limb still humming with Power. Now, the power of the Light doesn't actually come from the Traveler. The Traveler acts as a Conduit between the Source and Us. Ruhlk and the Witness...even Eramis mentioned breaking the Chains. Our Chain is the Traveler. If our Ghost can learn how to tap into the Power itself, then the Traveler is Useless. The Shard also isn't its own Entity, as I quote "The Light lives in all Places, all things" meaning the Traveler's Mind you could say, stretches Far. Proof of this was During Forsaken when the Traveler talked to us on IO. Red War- pretty much was the Traveler relaying a Message through the Shard.

I was assuming it merged back into the Traveler when it healed a few seasons ago.

3 RepliesThe shard this, the shard that. What about the Crucible?

That was a BIG shard... How about this, you don't need either entity. Might end up being vex in the end, not attached to either light or darkness, just paracausal...not paracausal because of something else 🤔 never say right with me.

1 ReplySavathun is using it as a bum plug. That’s why she’s got the light lmao

A shard no matter big or small is a part of the Traveler, we got our Light back by interacting with it, while the Traveler was caged that shard acted as a middleman in a way, so no it isn't it's own entity but since it's been shattered off of the Traveler it's been changing things around it without anything to stop it (as in, the Traveler)

3 RepliesShard still exists It would be cool if they added a way to the new light quest that made it where they had to travel to the shard to learn about their subclass before unlocking it

The Shard is just a shell with power in it. We’ve seen the power crystals inside of it when Uldren broke a section back in Forsaken. Scaled up, it’d be millions. And likely the main source of Light. Not so much what’s inside the Shell. Will likely come into play if the Traveler becomes infected with Darkness. Will be a source of Light and should be enough power to cleanse it.
