My god, yes. It's especially worse when you have some griefer shoot a glacier grenade in the tube that leads to the vex tube, kills you, & then respawns you back into the area where the 2nd encounter is. Then joining allies causes you to lose starhorse favor, where you had a 1/3 chance of getting.
