I have a lot of old weapons that don't have four rows of stats. What would be cool would be to add row-stat rewards to playlist activities, so you can upgrade the old weapons, so they become worthwhile to use. Other games have weapon upgrades you can unlock by playing certain activities, why not this one? We have too many weapons in the game as it is... there's really no point for more, except for a new type, similar to when we got SMGs and bows at the start of D2. Heck, I just got Khvostov-7G-02 and I would love to be able to upgrade it to a legendary. Heck, make all blues be upgradeable to legendary status. All those blue weapons are pointless in the game and you never really get to play with them much before you've gone all legendary. There are so many... which makes no real sense.

3 RepliesThis isnt that big of a deal. While not really an mmo this happens in everyone of them. New weapons replace old weapons...

8 RepliesOn the contrary a very large portion of PVP players are ultimately for weapon decay. I’ll save you the speech, but TLDR the pvp sandbox cannot flourish without meta changes, and part of these changes are new guns with new perks and new stat distribution. Destiny is too big for fixes to archetypes consistently, so this is the next best thing.

I don't want it, but I'm not against it either. Its good for future development

3 RepliesOnly the fun boys want this. We won’t get fresh and new. Well get watered down and recycled crap RE skins. It’s coming. They told us. Now it’s up to the customers to refuse to pay them any more money.

Ah I see you speak for us all. Thanks for confusing what YOU think with what EVERYBODY thinks...

Honestly, I see weapon retirement as a good thing, in fact it might be needed. I mean sure I get why people would get upset from the idea, especially for farming those god roll weapons they wanted for so long. But that just it, because people have that weapon they wanted and their loadouts set there's basically no incentive to get new loot especially for PVP players. The meta in pvp and pve has been pretty stale for well over a year, for example in pvp, Mindbenders to this day is still on the top ten and so is Spare Rations, Hammerhead and Wardcliff. Are these good weapons? Yes. But the problem is that they're too good and new weapons that are potentially good are easily overshadowed. Because there are so many weapons in the game as it is, it's almost impossible to both playtest and balance thing out without something new to throw a wrench in it. As someone who like to switch things up every once in a while I'm all for it.
-
It's a make or break issue for me depending on how they implement it. I don't want to regrind for specific rolls of weapons I already have with a new skin on it. And if they're going to do this, they need farming guns to be like the Menagerie where you can somewhat control the rolls on your drops. 9+ months life cycle on weapons sounds okay until it takes you 6+ months to get that god rolled gun you're after.
-
I do, I'm sure it's going to be great Only sparebenders keep complaining about it

I want it, therefor they are in fact listening to the players.

Weapon retirement will be good in the long run. The best alternative is buffing other guns to compete, the last time that happened Graviton Lance became the meta, as will happen if they do it again- but with other weapons. Destiny is a game with hundreds of guns but barely a few dozen AT MOST see regular use, primarily the same select few in PvE or PvP. Weapon Retirement will mix up the meta big time for the first time since they added Lunas, which has been in the meta even through its nerfs. It is about time we learn to use other weapons

Bungie, if you're listening, Weapon retirement is a great idea.

Be careful claiming to speak for everyone. More than less likely you’ll be wrong.

You bring up some good points IM We Tall d1d, and I agree that the Black Garden may not stay among us for long. Something has begun to repair the schism torn by its destruction. Vex now flood the Garden channels to protect it. We must stop the weavers before they seal the Garden and begin to summon back its heart.

This game is trash

They are not retiring weapons, where did they say that they are retiring weapons? There is a huge difference between weapon capping and weapon retirement. English is not even my first language and I understood what they said in DC so give it a try and read it.
