I’ve wanted to do something like this for a while, so here I am. Now I am by no means a lore master like some of these other people, like the #lore Vanguard. If there is something missing, I apologize. Let me know and I will try and fit it in. Well, here goes:
First, a brief description of what a Fallen House is. It is the groups that the Fallen have put themselves into. Some examples would be the House of Devils and the House of Wolves. Each House has different positions. The three main ones are Kell, Archon Priest, and the Prime Servitor. The Kell is the leader of the House, the Prime Servitor is the god of the House, providing Servitors for the House, and the Archon Priest is the head priest for the Prime Servitor.
Now let’s get into the different Houses:
House of Devils: The main House that is seen in the Cosmodrome in D1. They were also the big user of SIVA in RoI. This House was really into the Fallen religion. When its Kell died, the Archon Priest took over. That’s why when we killed Sepiks Prime, we became their number one enemy.
House of Kings: Also working out of the Cosmodrome, they were barely seen throughout D1 because they were the most secretive of the Houses, working behind the scenes.
House of Winter: Working out of Venus, they are not seen that much. We kill their Kell really quickly, then they are taken over by the House of Wolves.
House of Wolves: Operating out of Venus after taking over the House of Winter. They were under the control of Mara Sov until their original Kell, Skolas, broke out of the Prison of Elders, and went out to conquer all the Fallen Houses. The House of Wolves we’re heavily invested in Vex tech
House of Judgement: Only consisting of one member, Variks. Their original purpose was to be the impartial judges to the other Houses.
House of Exile: They worked out of the Moon in D1. They consisted of the rejects after Twilight Gap. They did not have a Kell or Archon Priest, so their leader was unknown.
House of Stone: The frontlines during the Whirlwind. Their Kell pretty much gave Oryx the finger, then ditched their home planet.
House of Rain: The creators of the famous Kell of Kells prophecy, they were destroyed in the Whirlwind when the Traveller left them.
Before going over the House of Dusk, some backstory. All the leaders of the Houses were killed, so the Fallen dropped all banners and came together under one banner, Dusk.
House of Dusk: The current House seen in D2. They are currently fighting the Red Legion in every corner of Sol. Their leadership is unknown, if they even have any.
Twilight Gap was a ginormous battle between the Guardians and the Fallen. All of the Fallen Houses United under the Devils, except for Wolves, and attacked the City. It was heavy losses on both sides, but the Guardians won.
The reason why the House of Wolves did not participate was because they were intercepted by the Awoken (and their weapon the “Harbringer”) and defeated them. It is hinted towards that we would have lost Twilight Gap if the Wolves had been there.
Here is each Kell and their status:
Skolas: Kell of Wolves and the “Kell of Kells”-dead
Virixas: Orignal Kell of Wolves before Skolas-dead
Solkis: Kell of Devils-dead
Craask: Kell of Kings-unknown
Kell of Exile: Unknown
Kell of Dusk: Unknown
Kell of Judgment: Variks-missing
Draksis: Kell of Winter-dead
Chelchis: Kell of Stone-dead or taken
Kell of House of Rain: Unknown who-dead
Taniks, the Scarred: Loner who works for the highest bidder-dead
Yep, so that’s the Fallen Houses simplified. If I missed anything, let me know and I will try to put it in.
When Uldren looks up at him, he does not even need to speak the truth. The Kell of Kings has named Uldren, and in doing so, it has named itself. The broken ruler of a broken house. The Last Kell. "You can do what I cannot," the Kell tells Uldren. "You broken, beaten thing. You have no pride, so you will lose nothing when you give the word that must be given. It is twilight for the Fallen, and we must lay our banners down." And to the groaned and growled protests of its court, the Kell of Kings kneels to Uldren. "I bow to thee," it says, "for in thy downfall and disgrace thou bearest the weakness we cannot. Thou shalt tell the Eliksni to tear off their banners. Thou shalt tell them that we must all surrender to each other. We must give up our rivalries, or we will not survive. Wilt thou do this for one dying people, Prince of another?" He will do it. He will gain soldiers, and ships, and resources to begin the search. He found them, he himself, by risking everything and surviving. As he always does. He feels her in his heart. She is still out there. She needs him more than ever. In the pit of his suffering, her voice came clearly to him—like the way she once appeared to him while he was being beaten to a pulp in a zero-g brawl. She is out there waiting for him, and everything will be all right. He will be there for her. It will be all right.

"We are the last of our kinds," Uldren tells the Kell. "My sister is gone. So is the idea of your Great Machine. The difference between us?" He leans in to hiss. "My sister's coming back." In four swift cuts, the Archon of the Scorned Barons docks the Kell of Kings. Uldren tears the House of Kings sigil hanging from the new Dreg's belt and holds it high for all to see. "The Kings are dead." "Long live the King," comes Fikrul's reverent growl. 19 RepliesEdited by Valigus: 11/30/2018 11:29:20 AMU cannot assume that Uldren was the Kell of dusk because he clearly wasn’t it was probably craask and now I am willing to bet that it’s the kings archon. Also it’s heavily implied that craask is alive but was docked by the fanatic so he may still rise back up, also it is heavily implied and thought by many and I agree with this that the Kell of stone was taken. Actually I believe it is said definitively ely that if the wolves had been at twilight gap we would have lost. Great post

1 ReplyEdited by Pocket Fox: 11/30/2018 6:18:27 AMSo Uldren did indeed become Kell of the united fallen? I remember this was strongly hinted at in vanilla D2, but Bungie seemed to drop that story line in favor of the whole Scorn thing. I remember there was a time we all thought there was going to be a big, Houses of Wolves style Fallen DLC where the Uldren led Fallen team up with the guardians.

1 ReplyTaniks is an odd ball. He could still be kicking. Givin that we might be dealing with SIVA in the next raid.....I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in action. . As for Craask. He might not be dead. Yes being left as a Dreg has many many implications to his death...also given it was The Fanatic that did it too. Either that or he's actually dead....and I'm in denial as he could have been a very good ally and could have had lots of potential.

I imagine Taniks is still alive, just my theory.

1 ReplyAlso you forget the og wolf kell Virixas.

1 ReplyFigured I’d say this, it’s mainly me teaching one of my friends about Destiny’s world. He had asked if the Scorn if they were their own separate house or part of another house, so I had to tell em that not even the House of exiles (which are renown for being crazy and taking in exiles from other houses) didn’t accept them. Needless to say, this shocked him since he always assumed the exiles were the worst

Good stuff. Might be worthwhile to add who each Kell actually is, and their fate (confirmed dead, hidden, unknown).
-
2 RepliesWait, shouldn’t we be kell of winter?

Learned more from this post than 4 years of playing Destiny. Nicely done.
