3 RepliesTo be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existential catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎

I think it’s probably the best sci fi cartoon in the last 10 years.

Edited by shell: 10/6/2018 5:09:32 AMThe shows alright, but not intelligent. The show used to be somewhat aware of this. It used to be a common gag that Rick got shut down when he went on his self-indulgant rants about how smart he is. I always liked to think of it as Dan Harmon being himself until the actual writers got their hand on the script. Season 3 didn't really do that, though. It made Rick the hero even though he's obviously an asshole. The worst was when he was telling Beth about how intelligence was a curse. It was hard to watch, it felt like the writers were pandering to the stereotypical "intellectuals" who think the show is the height of academic wit.

PICKLE RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!!!

It has alot of depth to it. Much like Adventure Time. I enjoy shows like this for showing the insanity which is the human condition.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 10/5/2018 7:00:16 PMIt has its moments. Like South Park, it can go from serious and intelligent to completely and utterly absurd in two seconds. It doesn’t try to be current or a social commentary even remotely as much as South Park does though. It’s whacky sci-fi with some thought provoking moments/themes, and it’s obvious that the creator is nihilistic.

2 RepliesYou’ve posted a riddle that makes no sense , then two posts on intelligence. I must be missing something.

Its thought provoking. That's all I say because I feel like anything else is too much credit or too little

It's mainly the fans that ruin the show for a lot of people, it's actually a pretty good show.
-
Look, if you passed high school and anything in Rick and Morty is beyond your comprehension, you need a refund.
-
It can be very intelligent but it can also be incredibly puerile that’s what makes it work so well.
-
Rick and Morty is a pretty awesome cartoon. It just has a stigma attached to it.b
-
Yes, but that doesnt make its viewers automatically smart.
-
Cartoons aren't sentient creatures capable of thought, you silly goose!

3 RepliesWhen you think about it, it is. It shows how seeing the world from the "nothing you do matters in the scope of the universe" perspective is liberating and with all of its whimsical nonsense aside, the show does make you wonder about what's out there and if there really are infinite you's from infinite dimensions with infinite possibilities waiting to be discovered.
