One of the best parts about Monster Hunter World is the fact that there are zero Loot Boxes. MHW is the perfect example that game developers DO NOT need Loot Boxes to make money. Capcom created a complete game millions of players wanted to buy, and now watch Capcom use that money from the sale of MHW as revenue to push out DLC. Bungie, EA, Activision can all learn a thing or two from Capcom.
Same with Resident Evil. Capcom released that game in its complete state and released that game and used that money as revenue to created Resident Evil 2,3,4,5,6 and so on and released DLC for them also. Moral of the story? Game Developers (again) DO NOT need Loot Boxes period. You develop and complete games before you released them, millions buy those games and they then create revenue to create DLC and other games. Capcom is my favorite Developer for not engaging in predatory tactics.

Monster Hunter World is very fun though and I'll give them my fullest praise when they finally bring Dragon's Dogma Online over.

12 RepliesGet it through your head I no one BUYS micro transactions then they wouldn't exist. There is obviously a market and a business fulfils it. Don't want micro transactions then get the gaming public to stop buying them.

9 RepliesWell if Capcom doesn't need the revenue from micro-transactions to support a title, then why are there items for sale for Monster Hunter World Handler's Guildmarm costume - $3 A pack of 3 face paints - $2 A pack of 4 additional gestures - $5 A pack of stickers - $3 (yes - stickers in a Triple A title... ffs) Then there is the whole season character passes for Street Fighter V that you had to buy if you wanted to play characters such as Guile, Balrog, Sakura and Blanka. I'm not disagreeing that the general practice of micro-transactions need to go, but using Capcom as your arguing point is not the best choice. Capcom is just as bad as the other publishers when it comes to predatory tactics - they're just a little more subtle about it and IMHO makes them actually worst than EA and/or Activision.

I mean cmon, yeah in mhw it seems okay but they along with every game company have always had shady business practices. Deliberately locking content shipped with games, suing people for no reason, only releasing games in Japan etc etc.

I quit after Resident Evil 4, that hospital on that island scared the shit outta me ! ! !

Edited by name: 2/14/2018 3:54:33 PMhistory lesson: it was CRAPCOM who started push heavily with all this cosmetics at extra cost crap (SF4) last gen, and even invented "available on disk but locked" day one DLC bullshit (RE5) , ultimately it may be even CRAPCOMS fault to some extend for the horrible state the gaming industry is in today

In Game Purchases Optional MHW sells you stuff like like every other game. If this was a thing in the 90's you'd have to buy the last piece of the Remington M1100 in RE2 from the Capcom store.
