Will be the day they demand our government stops treating them so shitty.
Conservatives like to pretend liberals hate and/or don't care about the troops but it's conservatives, their policies and their actions that are far more of a slap/spit in the face of our troops and veterans.
So until you are willing to do that, as an Army veteran, with all due respect - shut the -blam!- up.
Edit I'm not a Democrat btw
Just saying where were you and your outrage when the Bush administration cut their family separation allowance, hazard duty pay and other things shortly before invading Afghanistan and Iraq?
Where was your anger when they spent the surplus on no-bid contracts to their former companies (which they still had stock in) and their friends and campaign investors instead of giving the troops body armor and armor plating for their vehicles instead giving them Viet Nam era flak jacket which are pretty useless and can't stop a round from an AK-47? On top of that they gave newer body armor to other countries to bribe them to get involved.
Where were you when they came home to the Walter Reed scandal?
None of that made people anywhere near as mad as an NFL player not kneeling for the anthem? Jog on with your fake outrage.

Troops are drawn from the general population who are considered disposable and don't really matter to those who put them in harms way. Your lives are to be squandered as the elite sees fit.

Because they only ever complain about whatever Orange Dump or Fox "News" tells them to complain about. Brainwashed till the end. So sad the one side of the country is so brainwashed by a simple "news" organization. I'm not saying Left wing media doesn't lie to us, they do all the time. But on so many issues Fox "News" lies about nearly everything to keep their viewer base ignorant. Fox "News" will make something an issue when they feel it should be an issue. No policy. No substance. No ideology. No morals. No ethics. Just whatever they feel could give them more power over the government to push their corrupt ideology.

I agree with most of the things you've mentioned, and I'm sure that were these issues put center-stage as they occured many of us would protest these actions with you. The issue here is that people on mass tend to only care about the cultural battle being fought, not so much the political ones (hence why the NFL stuff is a bigger story than the tensions between the US and NK). And it's not just conservatives that are upset at the NFL protests, it's almost 80% of the US population. The issue is also more than just the disrespect of troops, but rather the notion that the main symbol to unite us is being used to divide us instead. I personally wish the best for the troops, and I'd like to see more people elected who actually give a damn about them. Thank you for your service, btw. You are amongst the US's finest.

I'm just disappointed when I see the kneeling. How can we be unified, stand for unity, do away with this heavy focus on race, when these petulant tantrums are invading all arenas of life? " Wah. Trump said I couldn't do it, so I'm gonna kneel just to spite Trump. " I wish Trump hadn't said anything about it, because then this kneeling wouldn't have become so popular. It's not Trump's place to say what football players do. It's not a football player's place to use their fame to gain followers for their politics. How are we ever just gonna see each other as Americans instead of white americans or black americans, if everywhere we look, people are screaming about race with their divisive behavior. By kneeling, they remind everyone of the racial tensions we all need to put behind us. By kneeling, they are creating a dividing line where there need be none. The kneeling is a protest against police brutality and shootings on black men. Before kneeling, at least research the data in relation to police shootings, brutality, and crime. At least do your own research people. Oh, and they are allowing elementary students to kneel during the pledge of allegiance. What do you think of that?

4 RepliesIdk about military but I do know conservatives pretend like they want to reduce abortions. They claim they do but their actions say otherwise.

(In U.S. sense) Soldiers fight for freedom. Freedom gives us the right to express our constitutional rights. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say we have to respect our country, or worship s piece of cloth. Forcing people to to suppress rights is the opposite of freedom. There are groups of conservatives wanting to force people this, and claim they love America and love freedom. But suppressing rights is the opposite. Not all, but a lot of conservatives are blindly hypocritical.

2 RepliesYou gripe about conservative policies treating troops like crap yet you fail to name any, Iseeu

Well... fair...ish.. Liberals seem to enjoy reducing military spending. Lack of spending seems to account for most of your issues, here. I don't think it's an unsafe assumption to say our soldiers would be better armed and cared for if the GOP didnt have to fight and bargain(even suspend government) for evert bit of the budget. Honestly though, my views on the military have been steadily drifting leftward for quite some time. I'm opposed to both parties views on our military, really.

2 RepliesEdited by Sage: 9/29/2017 9:08:32 PMI'm a conservative, yet I don't believe/complain that liberals don't care about our troops. At the end of the day we are are just humans. It doesn't matter what your political stances are, but you should care for everyone's well being. I only have a problem with people who don't care about others, regardless of if you are a Republican, or Democrat.

1 ReplyPretty much all the people who aren't the most educated on mental illness and have that "stop being depressed" "stop being lazy" "forget about [traumatic event]" are on the right and I say this as someone on the right too. Their issues don't lie with hating vets post conflict it's lack of education and when someone isn't educated on the topic they go with whatever the rest of the crowd is saying. Humans are a social species, work in packs, while more and more people are starting to form their own opinions a vast majority of people are religious, disregard sources or opposing opinions and would just prefer someone telling them what to do and that's what's happening (giving them the benefit of the doubt)

2 RepliesEdited by stonebrixxx2: 9/29/2017 10:31:18 PMI 100% agree with you. Veterans get 1/10 of the credit they deserve. These people risked their lives and some even came back with mental/physical harm. Yet these people have some of the highest suicide rates and are often poor. It makes me mad. This shouldnt even be a political thing, Its common sense and human dignity we are talking about.

13 RepliesWhere have you been? Conservatives have been complaining about the way our troops are treated for years.

Living under an Imperial Regime has its ups in downs. Count your blessings that you are not one of our colonials, only an agent of their material and ideological repression...

Both sides are equally horrible now IMO. Someone on the extreme goes nuts and both of the normal sides try to damage control only to end up acting like the extremes.

Well put.

I have a lot family who served & some who are still serving. We are very good at ignoring the needs of those who defend us. It is very sad, especially when we send our troops out to every part of the world.

Topkek, tell that to the VA.

Go ahead and bitch about the government all you want. Just don't resort to throwing rocks at the little guy that works for the government.
