I've never spent a cent on micro transactions in any game, and never plan to. Buy why is it such a big deal? If you don't like it don't buy it.

14 RepliesThis is amazing. You have these idiots defending game changing microtransactions, on top of multiple high price dlc, on top of a full price game. I'll never understand how or why anyone defends bungie if they're not getting paid by them.

Edited by Todd Clorox: 9/7/2017 3:01:46 AMThere are quite a few layers to this subject, and really feels like a total gray area topic. I can see and understand both sides of the issue and in a way agree with both sides to a point. I am a firm believer in if you don't like or agree with a product don't buy it, but I understand the worry of a possible minority of people that don't buy it but aren't enough to stop the practice and end up dealing with the repercussions. I know I won't be spending money on micro transactions, or at least that is my current stance. However I am not going to hold it against someone that does, that is their choice and I don't think that decision will have a significant enough of an impact on my experience to justify hostility towards them. Still it is a slippery slope that has now shown to have a higher potential to become what it shouldn't, and if people continue to speak with their wallet and buy there is no real indication that this trend will not continue regardless of my decision not to buy and will then be left with three options. Either deal with it and just keep playing anyway on an unbalanced playing field, buckle and give in and buy to even the playing field, or quit playing entirely. None of those choices are good in my opinion and don't seem quite fair, but as I heard a lot as a child "life is not fair deal with it". So yeah I am torn a bit on this but I will say be careful, keep an eye on it, and hope you don't have to make a decision you don't want to make, but hell making decisions you don't want to make is probably 90% of adulting to a lot of people so welcome to the real world.

OP maybe blind... but he sees.

5 RepliesIt's a big deal, because it sets a precedent. If a company can make money off small items, they know they can make money on progressively larger content. (DLC/expansions) Maybe even start charging for patches and updates. It's not as simple as, "well I don't use it so I don't care." This is also an prevalent attitude that is causing problems world wide.

1 Replyyou can defend microtransactions all you want but a line has been crossed here.....

I don't understand why everybody is so bent on screaming about this stuff, tbh. It's not pay-to-win - it's not even pay-to-advantage; it's pay-to-get-sooner - you can reach level 20 in a day and every 'level' after that gives you a Bright Engram - forever. No limit at all. It's not even that hard to level up; pretty easy, actually. And there's not even a guarantee they'll get something they'll find useful. I've seen a lot of people screaming about the shaders too - honestly I think it's good. People are saying they're trivial now - I think they were trivial BEFORE. Comparatively speaking, they were easy to get, and once you had it you were done. Now, they're worth more. You have to think. Do I want to put this on this gun, or this one? Or maybe my ghost, sparrow, or ship? People are gonna complain about everything in this game, but imo it's great, and the changes are all perfect~
-
4 RepliesI'm guessing all the micro transaction complainers have never know what it costs to run a business....
-
Shaders...
-
Nope.
-
Considering that you can earn Bright Engrams at a pretty reasonable rate in game, I see no issue with people being able to purchase them. It's not like it takes a week to earn one...
-
I didn't really care about micro transactions in D1 because the money went to the company that provided a product. Although I am super proud I haven't purchased this game and won't until I see how they handle patches and balance changes, I feel for the gullible. From what I can see so far? It is still confirmed a zebra doesn't change its stripes and I have to have a laugh...
-
2 RepliesMy problem is that from what I can tell the eververse stuff is ONLY unlockable from there meaning with my budget I'm gonna be at a constant disadvantage. It'd be different if everything dropped naturally and the Bright Engrams just got you the stuff easier but like I said from what I've read they're the only way to get shaders, weapon mods, and emotes.

6 RepliesEdited by AgentCormac: 9/6/2017 7:31:39 PMIt's the principle. If I pay full price for a game I expect a full game. Not half a game then buy the rest of the game in dlc installments and then p2w in microtransactions. Microtransactions show the utter contempt that the developers and publishers hold the fans in.
-
I remember when they promised microtransactions would only be cosmetic. As soon as I reached level 20, got the bright engrams and realized Destiny is now pay to win, I came here to see what people are saying. I am shocked and disgusted they finally went for it, they have zero integrity. I shouldn't be surprised though since the greedy 'throw money at the screen' guy is the game director.
-
4 RepliesThe one thing worse than micro transactions is the idiots who don't see how bad they are for games.
-
Never did in any game, never will.
-
I have no idea why so many cry about it.. it is not like the items are even that great... sure it shaves off a few hours early game but after 24 hours of game play those items you purchased will be complete crap = wasted money. who gives a -blam!-, if they where selling raid gear or something that makes sense but its all shit...

1 ReplyThe acceptance of Bungie's current bad practices encourages them to continue pushing the envelope. It disappoints me that many people are not willing to stand up for principles, and instead only care about entertainment. I can only hope that the majority of people that upvoted this post are children, because children are not developed enough to understand what is going on.

2 RepliesNO. They are ONLY ok in games if 1. It is a free game. 2. ALL DLC is free. Micro-transactions in $60 games with paid DLC should be gone forever.
-
I bought some silver to support bungie. Already have the season pass, want them to support this game for years with content.
-
2 RepliesI love the micro transactions. I don't have the time to spend grinding away but I have the money. This will save me a ton of time. Thanks Bungie.

It's a problem when it becomes anything but cosmetic.

Man, I should be used to it by now, but is always so jarring coming from Reddit back to these forums and instantly watching the average IQ drop
