Best PvE weapons at the moment? (noob needs help)

Haven't played for a while, so I have no idea which are the must have weapons for PvE right now. Tried myself with googling and reading lots of guides which didn't really help. I know the community probably knows the best about which weapons are the most amazing and overpowered weapons for PvE right now! Right now I am using the Exotic Primary 'Zhalo supercell', my Sniper and Rocket launcher are just some random legendary's that I found. I heard that using an exotic as Primary isn't really good though... That is why I could really need some help at which are the best Primary Secondary Rocket launchery at the moment, to use in PvE. And which of these should be the Exotic one.

  • As was said before (many times), it varies a ton based on the activity and/or modifiers. My most basic layouts for non-raid activity are: No modifier: Fatebringer (legendary) Black Hammer Hezen Vengence Solar modifier: ((Genesis Chain~)) (adept) LDR-5001 (solar) Hezen Vengence Arc modifier: Fatebringer (adept) LDR-5001 (arc) Steel Oracle Z-11 (arc w/ cluster) Void modifier: Doom of Chelchis (adept) Eirene RR4 (void) Steel Oracle Z-11 (void w/ cluster) Clearly these load outs take time to acquire w duplicate weapons w decent rolls and a variety of burns. The hardest part about answering this question is the fact that you'll often want to switch a superior weapon out for another depending on the perks, such as bonus damage to (fill in the blank). My suggestion, find your single best build based on the weapons you currently have, regardless of circumstance. Then when you get new weapons, compare those with you best weapons and build a collection for each of the elementals. Don't overlook the importance of armor though, because you'll want a solid collection of armor pieces which also compliment the activity/modifiers (enemy, burns, health regeneration modifiers). Given that this post was in April, you've probably had just enough time to collect a decent arsenal in time for Destiny 2 to drop and start all over 😂.

    • "The best" is subjective, because it depends on what you are doing. I will use my Super good advice in VoG, but never for anything else. I never listened much to what everyone thinks is the best loadout. I'll usually run what I feel I do best with. And a lot of it depends on the perks you get on said gun, because without them, they're hopeless. Get some guns, try them out. Decide what you like and what you don't. Then get more guns. There is a reason I have a vault full of different weapons, and not 1 set for each character.

    • Back in y1, there was the 'holy trinity' loadout consisting of fatebringer, black hammer and ghorn. You could use a y3 equivalent of this with legendary fatebringer, ex machina and your choice of ghorn, sleep stimulant, dark drinker/razelighter

    • Depends what activity really, there are lots of factors that'll change the best weapon to use. For instance Steel medulla for WotM with Ex-Machina and Gjallarhorn/Sleeper/Dark Drinker

    • [armory]GENESIS CHAIN~[/armory] and [armory]CHAOS DOGMA~[/armory] are extremely powerful weapons. The auto rifle is literally an upgraded version of [armory]Suros Regime[/armory] and the scout rifle is a primary [armory]Black Spindle[/armory]. WotM weapons in general are very strong. [armory]IF MATERIA~[/armory], the machine gun, melts bosses super fast. Try to get one in each elemental burn! [armory]EX MACHINA~[/armory], the sniper rifle, has nearly the same damage profile as Black Spindle, but as a legendary. Basically, run WotM raid and get awesome weapons to wreck PvE with. Genesis Chain in particular is amazing for clearing adds during Vosik with its Firefly ability.

          • It depends entirely on your play style. Raids are the only reason you'd want to run anything specific.

          • Primary, you want a scout or hand cannon. Future war cult are selling a very decent pve scout this week, the wounded, nice mida scope, full auto firefly. Use that until you get a cryptic dragon drop from PvP (better stats in every mode), or a vision of confluence from VoG. Handcannon, you want explosive rounds on an imago (from loot chest on undying mind) or fatebringer. An eyasluna can do great too, another PvP drop though. Secondary you want a high impact sniper, or full auto shotgun, depends on your style. Event horizon from crucible quartermaster, devil's dawn from strike loot chest (sepiks, phogorth, kovik) Heavy, do the gally quest, sorted. Most other rockets don't do enough damage, same with lmgs. Raze lighter or darker drinker are useful but not needed in regular pve stuff and are painful quests. Sleeper quest is easy enough n is deffo useable if your accurate. Pulses are meh in pve, ARs eat ammo unless you get a focus fire Arminius, Genesis chain or Arminius Does. Sidearms are garbage. Run Nightstalker, defender, or any warlock subclass, happy days

Burning Eye (Trials scout) Ex Machina (WoTM Raid Sniper) Gjallarhorn. Gjallarhorn is definately the easiest to get but that is a pretty good load out for raids & general non-modifier PVE. The Burning Eye isn't as hard to get from trials as it used to be (you can get it from trials bounties and Crucible Quartermaster Scout Rifle bounties) Ex Machina drops from Vosik on Hard Mode Wrath of the Machine. Edit: An easier to obtain primary would be the vendor FWC scout rifle "The Wounded" for this week. This week it has crowd control, outlaw and full auto which I've heard good things about. Make sure to get it before tuesday though because the roll will change then As far as a sniper, any mid-high to high impact sniper will do fine. An easy pick would be the "Devil's Dawn" sniper from the Abomination Heist or Sepiks Perfected strike chests.

I usually leave the exotic slot for heavy. Gjalla, DarkDrinker or Raze Lighter. For primary I use HC or Scout with explosive rounds (Firefly as bonus). Fatebringer, The Wail, Hand Of Judgment, Badger CCL etc. For secondary I use high impact sniper (Event Horizon) or a fusion with a good charge rate rather than high impact (Panta Rhei). I normally combine HC with Sniper and Scout with fusion for short range long range coverage.

                • This is a loaded question. There is no right answer. If you are doing something that has a burn (arc, solar) then the answer changes. I can tell you that you shouldn't be trying to limit your primary slot to Zalo Supercell. (This one guy I knew just kept Hawkmoon in his primary slot just because it was an exotic he thought it was the best option. He kept trying to shoot stuff across the map). God I can't even imagine what a nightmare trying to play like that would be. Just use Zalo for arc burn activities and get yourself a decent scout rifle or pulse rifle (legendary) for routine stuff. Use Gally as your defacto heavy as it will work in 99% of situations, and grab a decent high impact snipe from a vendor, like Event Horizon. If you have to have an answer, just get these and you can manage basically any situation: Primary - Hand of Judgemant/ Fatebringer Secondary - Icebreaker / Ex Machina / Found Verdict Heavy - Gjallarhorn / Sleeper Simulant / Raze Lighter
