title.
seems like most of the competitive crucible community want primaries to be buffed to compete with shotguns, not shotguns be nerfed to be fair against primaries. at this point the only people asking for a shotgun nerf are a small minority of pve players who can't adapt.
the fact that cozmo's post indicated that the sandbox team is paying close attention to shotguns right now concerns me and makes me think that the people at bungie who are giving feedback to the design teams aren't doing enough research as to what the players want. if you are one of those people im sorry, im sure you are doing your best. maybe there just need to be more of you. i dont know. but common opinion seems to be that shotguns dont need a nerf and primaries need a buff, so i was at least a little taken aback by cozmo's post. thanks for reading my short rant guardian, may your elo remain high throughout your endeavors in the carnage that is the crucible 😤✋🏻💯

3 RepliesThey should be focusing on hunters.

32 RepliesReally in my opinion (leaving supers out of the discussion) one button kills should not be possible. At all. Back to the issue, one button kill range on some shotguns is really the issue. Shotguns should be deadly at spitting distances and require more spamming when you get further out (say at the max height of your jump) Primaries feel about right for the most part. Nerf max range and i think you have a deal. While i am up here on this thing, i will add that, next go around (destiny2) i would like to see ALL one button kill mechanics removed from pvp and a return to actual gunplay make a major comeback.

3 RepliesI sincerely hope stormcallers and shotguns get shit on.

Edited by Racebum: 12/18/2016 11:01:35 AMThere is actually a pretty sizable chunk of players who are teetering right on the edge of not playing. If they Nerf shotguns or make the game Less Fun you're going to see the playerbase get reduced even more. Shotguns have already been nerfed into the ground. I think they have received more nerfs than every other weapon type

Perhaps the geniuses in the sandbox have finally realized: Warlock melee has more range that a shotgun! Perhaps one of them shot a pheasant with a 12 gauge and realized: they can kill at 500 feet, not 2! Perhaps they realized that there is an annual shotgun permit issued for hunting 700 pound Beer! Perhaps they realize Police use shotguns! Perhaps they are going to nerf shotguns again to appease... Who really cares what they do, anymore!

1 ReplyPrimaries absolutely do need to be buffed (minus high-rate of fire pulses). However, I do think shotguns need TWEAKING, not nerfing. I think Bungie needs to widen the skill-gap between shotgunners. Make precision shots with shotguns more reliable one-shot kills, body shots less consistent one-shot kills. That way, if you're skilled with a shotgun, you'll do better than right now. If you aren't precise, you'll struggle. Easy fix.

3 RepliesI've only got back in to Crucible recently because of an exotic quest and I think shotguns are in a pretty good place. I happily trot around with my Fusion Rifle & manage to give as good as I get. The only place where shotties seem to out gun anything else is the accuracy while sliding. Must other guns become useless at speed or in the air. That is mainly people taking advantage of a nice synergy. Sidearms need a little buff I think. I only say this because I never see anyone using them.

Everything will be buffed .04% and shot guns nerfed back to vanilla Destiny

people who ask bungie for needs and buffs are people who stick with the same weapons EVERY match...people who don't practice and become efficient with any weapon...people who have no idea what game development is like and who think that if enough players want a certain weapon or type to be changed, then bungie will just do it...look, they like feedback from the playerbase but the players complaints arwet the deciding factor when it comes to weapon balance...bungie actually does a pretty amazing job trying to implement things the playerbase wants but when it comes to balance, they science it instead of listening to opinions...they are gonna do what they think makes the game as balanced as possible and its not as simple as "nerf shotguns" or "buff primaries"...I can't even imagine how buffing all primaries would even work...that would bring another set of problems and honestly, the weapon balance is pretty good right now...shotguns are easily counter able, snipers work just as well as before if you know how to use one properly, and primaries are still very effective...I have used several types of weapons to counter shotguns effectively since the last patch and don't see why people think they are so strong...personally, I'm hoping they are buffing the players who use shotguns exclusively into players who can be effective with every weapon type because that's the issue...I'm not a god player and it took quite a while for me to "get gud" but the main reason so many shotguns are around is because they are one of the easiest weapons to use...almost all weapons and weapon types are pretty balanced right now...the main problem with crucible is still the lag...and before weapon balance, I would look at class balance because there seems to be more unbalance in those than weapons(although class balance is still better than it ever was before)

Yeah I'm worried as well. They hit shotties any harder you're literally gonna have to barrelstuff players for kills. It's going to be trash.
-
2 RepliesI agree primarys do need a fix but to me players are running around using nothing but special weapons for 1 reason, they have ammo. And lots of it. Why not make it like juggler. Start the match with 5 rounds in shottys fusions and snipers a few more in side arms. To get more you have to get kills with your primary and pick up the ammo.
-
They are just trying to find a new way to ruin their own game.
-
I don't think they ever play this game. Shotguns are fine. In fact, they can be really inconsistent. Snipers should have only had flinch increased back when they nerfed them. Primaries need a buff as you said.
-
2 RepliesSpecials in general are too available yo be considered "special." Snipers are still annoying in 3s.
-
2 RepliesWhy can't PvP be separate from PvE!?
-
3 RepliesPvE players asking for shotgun nerfs? Shotguns are horrible in PvE! Why would a PvE player want them to be worse! Trust me. It's not the PvE players screwing weapon balance in this game. PvE players don't want their weapons to be weaker. They want to feel strong as they punch a fallen captain to death.
-
Pve players easily get fed up with pvp leave and play pve. Pvp whiners keep on playing and keep on whining.
-
Shotguns are in a pretty good place, as are fusions and sidearms. Snipers, idk because I don't snipe, but I know I don't get domed as often. Primaries just feel weak, but Bungie really can't make time to kill any faster or engagements would be completely one sided. Most of the maps cater to cqb ...
-
I back this. Shotguns are actually working how they should and I don't even main one. Ppl just aren't good at reading the radar and get baited easily and blame it on shotguns. So sad.

Not a single pve player would ask for shotguns to be nerfed. When pvp players got them nerfed the first time, it was pve players that got them buffed into useable range outside of the crucible. Idgaf what they do in the crucible, stop making guns useless in pve.

4 RepliesConcerned over shit in a game? Nah. Sticking my penis in crazy few days ago, who is already leaving notes on my vehicle while i am at work or asleep is what i am concerned with.
-
9 RepliesIf they focus on shotguns, you have the worthless trogs of these forums to blame. Who cares about balancing primaries and asking about them when you can just bitch about shotguns endlessly until they're nerfed for the trillionth time?
-
1 ReplyShotguns aren't OP, they've been nerfed over and over again. The problem is special ammo crates and the fact that one box can give an entire team secondary ammo after spawning with it at the start of the game. Right now, shotguns are fine, sidearms are ok, fusions are pretty good as a whole for maybe the first time ever, snipers took a hit but are still good and even great in the right hands. Aside from Supremacy, (where shotguns run the game) the secondaries are mostly balanced amongst each other. The problem with always nerfing shotgun range is that almost every subclass is fast enough to close gaps that negate those nerfs. Even if they change the way special ammo crates spawn similar to the way heavy does, people will bitch that one team can control all special crates and easily have an edge. There is no pleasing this matter.

Remember in year one when they doubled the damage of shotguns in pve.. That was awesome.

Edited by FrenetiCreature: 12/16/2016 8:29:24 AMThere is plenty of time to kill a shotgunner with primaries now, if they come running straight at you. If you have good aim and are to hit your shots, you should be able to kill them. Oh, "but what if they slide?", you ask. Well, you have to be prepared for that. You know they can do that, be prepared to aim down further when they do. It works, if you do it in time and don't miss your shots. If they start from close enough to get to you and kill you in one shot, well its because you were just out-played. They used a tactic like crouching, in order to stay off of your radar, or whatever... and worked their way close enough to you to get in that range. Don't run blindly around corners. Don't stand right next to a doorway, or choke point. This is where a shotgunner is most likely to be trying to sneak up on you and outplay you. Always, constantly be thinking to yourself, "A shotgunner can be crouched around that corner, could come running from behind that wall, may be sneaking up behind me, etc. etc. etc..." And also be thinking, "Where should I be standing, or how should I approach that door, in order to avoid be shotgunned?" It's on you to realize the constant possibility and to always be prepared. If they're able to sneak up that close and rush you, well, then you need to practice being more aware. But, if they are able to run across a room and get close enough to one-shot you, then you need to practice your aim. Learn to back up and hip shoot. Have a grenade on hand in preparation for those moments, instead of always tossing it to get the upper hand in primary fights. Basically, what I'm saying is... adapt. They're there. You know they are. Be as ready as you can for them. If you're as prepared as you possibly can be, and you still get killed, it doesn't mean that the gun is "OP". It means you got outplayed that time. It happens. You're not going to be able to stop it from happening 100% of the time, nor should you be able to. What would be the point of having a weapon in the game, if it was easily counterable 100% of the time, in every circumstance? I'm pretty sure that's why we don't have the option to use pillows as a weapon... yet. TL;DR: Adapt, be aware and prepared, and come to realize that you're gonna get outplayed sometimes, you're not the best. Just because something beats you, it doesn't mean it's "OP".
