What's the point of deeming weapons "Exotic" anymore Bungie?
Iv'e been wanting to make a post about this for some time but haven't gotten around to it.
It's obvious why armor pieces are exotic and should be for good reason.
Guns such as Suros Regime, Hawkmoon, Hardlight, and a few other primaries right now just don't feel exotic... even Thorn.
Why even bother using a Hawkmoon now when Eyasluna and Palindrome just outperform it in every aspect?Why use an Auto-Rifle when a high RoF pulse rifle is basically that but better, or a Doctrin?
Basically we should just go ahead and remove some guns from the Exotic pool and drop them down to Legendaries or give them Life of the Exotic, because of they've been neutered.
I don't know if it's the nerfherd who should be blamed for this nonsense, or Bungie for caving in and actually nerfing the primaries because someone most likely got outplayed but blamed the primary for being "Too OP".

Technically exotics are supposed to be different not better than (or equal to) the competition And yet, even in that regard, they still fail

28 RepliesI see many responses here about what "Exotic" means and I agree.... largely. The game is what it is now and I'm more than happy with it. Y1 players though (Yes I am one) are haunted by the memory of when an Exotic was truely magnificent and when one finally dropped for you it was ..... well you just have had to experienced it. Suros, Vex and Thorn at times ruled PvP. Ice Breaker and Y1 Ghally were devastating in PvE. Read Death, Invective and Bad Juju also had their moment in the sun. It made the grind worthwhile to wield these monsters in virtual combat. Exotics now are simply pale shades of what they were in Y1 and I believe the memory of their greatness will haunt Y1 players for some time.

Thorns burn nerf was unaffected in pve. Its a more pve gun IMO.

Typical. Upvoted over 200 times butb reading the comments suggests otherwise. You've got a VERY vocal minority here. Pvp and pve need to be absolutely 100% separate in every aspect. Wouls make pve guns,gear,supers,etc back to fun like y1. Pvp players? You all would be happier as well. Destiny 2, i can only hope they fix this issue..

agree. zhalo and gjallahorn are the only two exotic weapons worth a shiz, and even they are nerfed. thorns now a waste of time. I've taken to farming exotics to infuse into legendary's. bring back elemental primaries. nightfall that boots to orbit, and that feeling that your exotic was worth something like yr 1 created

1 ReplyExotic doesn't and shouldn't mean better! If all exotics outperformed legendaries then what's the point in legendaries? Exotics have special perks that you don't see on normal guns e.g. Hardlight has the ricochet bullets and no damage fall off, that's what makes them 'exotic'

Exotics were never supposed to be the best guns in the game by default. They're just unique.

Exotics arent supposed to be "OP" they are supposed to be different. Thorn: DoT on a handcannon makes it super unique TLW: full auto hc? Unique Hardlight: shitty perk, but still unique Red death: outlaw+regen is VERY unique Suros regime: glass half full+ health regen is unique. Should i continue going on, the point of the exotic is to feel different, not overpowered

16 RepliesOh yeah because two tap thorn was balanced. OG mythoclast was balanced. The bugged 111 headshots while ads on tlw? Now that's what I call balance. Two burst red death? Was there something wrong with that? One shot hawkmoon? Well I mean what other way to balance a game than to give a primary the chance to one shot someone, right? I'm not saying I agree with all the nerfs but some of them were justified.

Exotics are niche weapons, not the all-around beast everyone seems to think the term "exotic" stands for. Hawkmoon is the only weapon to have three Luck in the Chamber shots, two of which can stack. Suros has a chance to heal on any kill along with Glass Half Full, again the only gun with that perk setup. These guns are meant to shine in certain situations. They obviously won't be applicable to everything.

1 ReplyThe only exotic weapon I use in crucible now is the truth. Everything else just feels like a waste. And whenever I decide to use a machine gun, I usually have no exotic weapon on.
