Im already bored... multiplayer would have been amazing in this game...
Update: ok ill be more specific on why i got bored....
1st hour : wow this is amazing, omg is that a cave?!
5th hour: oh look.... another reskinned cave...
Sorry but a game that has no multiplayer and constantly brags about how its all about exploration, should have a bit more variety... i shouldnt be finding reskins of everything already...
Edit: i guess we all can only have ONE console now?

Edited by gethyn007: 8/11/2016 4:58:26 PMThis is one of those games that everyone I knew was so excited about and preordered. Always seemed to me like I dunno... NOT the kind of game to preorder. Was hopeful and interested, but just seemed like it could either be epic and take you where no game has gone before or be one big boring piece a' crap, full of reskins, and hours upon hours of utter pointlessness. I am now keenly watching my friends to see how long they actually play it and how sincere their voice sounds when they say, "oh yeah, I like it." Also taking note of the fact that they still seem to be playing Destiny in addition to this game.

1 ReplyI'm not going to say anything definite until i play it. But I've been excited for this game since its announcement (like 2 YEARS ago?).

9 Repliesonly issue for me is the shitty inventory. I'm flying/walking around unable to pick anything up because I no longer have inventory space I unless I want to start destroying items for the sake of picking up more of an element to destroy later when I want to pick up something else. I did finally find a spot on my planet to start selling a shitload of materials from the area so I could at least get SOMETHING from it though.

Sorry but a game that has no multiplayer and constantly brags about how its all about exploration, should have a bit more variety... i shoulding me find reskins of everything already...
This game isn't supposed to be multiplayer and never was. Hello games and Sean Murray have said multiple times this is not a pvp type game. There are plenty of other games like that. Go play those. And as for reskinning? That's got to be the worst argument for bashing a game. Our real universe is a reskin. Different dogs cats bears bugs even humans. Why is a reskin bad? As for the exploration, have you gotten to the center? Have to tried blasting a hole though a planet with your mining laser thing? Have you explored underwater? Have you learned any new languages? Is it difficult because there's no linear path drawn out to tell you where to go? It's your universe man! Do whatever you want! But you can be bored of the game too and never play it again.

It's definitely a very slow game. But it's more about the experience and what's around you. If you get bored at looking around you then yeah the game might not be for you. And that's ok. I'm an experience guy myself though so I'm enjoying it.

1 ReplyEdited by TheArtist: 8/11/2016 3:32:09 PMThey aren't "reskins". There is only so many different ways of making a cave look different, before you fail to IDENTIFY it as BEING a cave. Bottomline, is that the dev was right. This is NOT a game that's going to appeal to everyone. If you don't like exploring and crafting...and you need an "adrenaline rush" in order to be entertained....then NMS is not your game. If you dont' like the challenge of resource management and almost continual problem-solving...then NMS is not your game. The game is almost more like a real-time strategy or simulator game of the sort that I used to play on PC. But that's the problem when games get released with this kind of attention. So many people just let their imaginations go to work on what the game "should" be....rather than listening to what the devs tell us to expect. ..and then people get upset when the devs make they game they said they would, and not the game they imagined.

6 RepliesI'm not going to purchase the game, but it seems you have set your expectations too high. You want each planet to be "hand crafted" but Hello games doesn't even have 20 developers. They made each planet with math. I'm impressed with what these developers were able to accomplish with such a small team.
-
1 ReplyThe type of game it is isn't for everyone. I honestly don't think that Sean thought the game would be as big as it is.
-
8 RepliesWhat do you mean a 'reskinned cave'? Lol how do you properly 'skin' a cave to make it different from all other caves?
-
I'm not going to rag on a small developer for doing what they want to do, especially if it's against the norm and had so many people hyped about it anyway. However, the game looked and sounded boring from the first time I'd heard about it.
-
2 RepliesBut OP you're doing it wrong. You see, you're supposed to praise the game, no matter what you really think. Opinions are for losers and xbox fanboys, everyone knows that NMS is a 1500/10 perfect masterpiece and the best video game that has ever been created!!

Okay... I want you to take a step back, re-read your post, and just think about this for two seconds. First off, Hello games is a small group of developers, 12 people in fact. To put this into perspective, Bungie has 200+ people in their studio. A small independent developer like that can only make so many assets that get combined through the magic maths they used for the game. This limited pool of models, textures, and animations can be combined a thousand and one different ways, but it's still limited. You're chances of running into a repeating asset is high, but you will never see an exact copy of a planet. So when you say "reskinned" I think "Its not reskinned, it's just similar. Something to be expected out of a generated map. Not to mention how different can a cave look? It's a cave FFS!" This game's universe was designed by maths. It wasn't hand-made down to the every last planet. Lower your expectations for diversity. Don't expect something wildly different around every corner. That's not possible. Secondly, multiplayer wouldn't have done a damn thing to this game. What would you do with those other people? The same exact thing your complaining about now. It's not NMS's fault that you find it boring, it's yours. Your expectations are wildly inconsistent with procedurally generated games. Either your too daft to learn from history or you're new here. -
3 RepliesYou got about 13 or 18 quitillion planets, do you really expect for each one to be completely different? We don't have alien technology to make that possible. You gotta expect to find some pretty similar stuff. Also there is the fact this game was made by like 4 guys with no huge budget like Bethesda.

No mans sky's limit in exploration is the imagination of devs.

2 Replies-blam!- you for having a different opinion then me. You know nothing at all. I love the game, and since it is made by a small developer you cannot hate on the game at all as you are just being a douche bag.
please do not take that seriously, this comment is supposed to be a satire comment reflecting many people's comments.
He asked me did I give a -blam!-... I said no

6 RepliesLol complaining about a game that reskins on a Bungie forum, the irony
-
It seems like an interesting stepping stone to me. If twelve guys could make a universe this big maybe a large team could make a really interesting starwars game. If only NMS came out in 2013. It would've been a really impressive tech demo.

1 ReplyI think it looks like a lot of fun -xbox user here-

Im already bored by just watching streamers repeat the same thing over and over.
-
I agree. Still playing it like a hookers ass but it can get pretty boring
-
It's all up to luck, really. Some people might encounter tons of similar-looking planets, while others get radically different ones at every stop. The devs created the formula and set limits, but have no control over what ends up where.
