4 RepliesEdited by ScribeTheMad: 6/30/2016 6:07:15 PMYes you can. I don't think you can have a decimal representation of a k/d less than zero though, props on that. 100 kills and 100 deaths gives you a k/d of exactly 1.00 This is breaking even. If however you go 93 kills for 100 deaths you end up with a k.d *represented* by something like .93 (simplified for explanation) You have gone negative, you have less kills than deaths. The fact that it's represented in a ratio not using a negative number does not mean it's not actually negative. For example, if I have $100, and put $1000 on a credit card, I am now $900 in the hole. The balance on the card will say $900 but it represents that my finances have a -$900 item. (also, a lot of accounting documents will list negative numbers as ($900) instead of -$900 because negatives tend to confuse people/systems) tl;dr Anything less than 1.00 is negative not because it's a negative number but because it represents a ratio that is less than evenly balanced. Edit: Think of it this way, any k/d less than zero, if you took your deaths and subtracted them from your kills you would end up with a negative number. A k/d of .1 for example is 10 kills to 100 deaths, subtract 100 from 10 and you get...-90

Technically speaking, no, you cannot have a negative K/D.
-
If you have 500 kills and 1000 deaths the difference is -500, looks pretty negative to me.
-
We all know what is meant by "negative kd".
-
I go on crucible once, get 0 kills, and 13 deaths. I now have a -13 kd, however the game does not display it like that
-
I hate these threads. Are you trying to stroke your math-peen? Are you trying to compensate for the fact that a <1.0 k/d has a "negative" impact on your team? Maybe you should work on reading comprehension skills, and less on math skills. When one refers to your k/d being negative, they are not referring to the actual value. But the negative nature of your play hurting your team, or preventing you from winning individual games. My k/d is less than 1.0. Therefore, it represents the negative impact I have in games. As such, I can say my k/d is negative.

2 RepliesIf you subtract your deaths from your kills you either have a positive number or a negative number Any kd below 1.0 will produce a negative number Discussion over lol
-
I do not care about K/D at all. I am playing a video game.
-
Are we talking about K/D ratio, or K/D spread. Very important to distinguish.
-
Technically true since you can't get less than 0 but in terms of k.d. anything less than 1 is considered negative
-
Technically a ratio cannot be negative, so I guess
-
2 RepliesNegative is anyhting less than 1. Yes igey decimals but what else are you suppose to say? You have a decimal K/D?
-
Edited by Kil (Inept): 6/30/2016 5:42:03 PMYou've clearly not seen the people who get put on my IB team ;D
-
As far as im aware you can not have a negative kd. Context doesnt matter. Math is math. Anything zero and up is positive. Even if its a decimal. Dont be stupid guys.
-
......are you guys trying to math again???
-
1 ReplyWell, sure, you can't have a negative number but if you're under 1.0 that would be considered negative. Pretty straight forward
-
4 RepliesIf you average is always negative then yeah your negative.. So sorry blueberry time to git gud
-
Anything below a 1.0 is negative since that means you give away free points for the opposing team, thus having a negative impact on your team. No one cares if you tryna do objective, stop fùcking dying. That's all.
-
7 RepliesWouldn't it depend on if you mean k/d ratio or actual k/d value. The ratio cannot be negative. Take for example a person gets 8 kills and 16 deaths, a 0.5 k/d ratio, which means they they got half as many kills as deaths, but it is still a positive number. At the same time, the k/d value would be -8, and thus a negative value.
-
I know what they are saying, but you cannot have a negative k/d. anything lower than ZERO is negative. greater than zero is positive. we all have positive k/ds...they just might not be that good!
-
4 Repliesfalse. anything below 1 is negative. 1.0 k/d = 1/1 0.5 k/d = 1/2 2.0 k/d = 2/1 technically any decimal number below 1 is still positive, when talking about k/d its negative. its all about context.
-
It's literally impossible to have a negative kd. 0.5 is a positive number!
-
4 Repliesdoes this mean i can start talking about my k/d in baseball term? Sweet! that means i have a killing average of 870, that sound way batter to me lol. Sorry, just having a little fun.

2 RepliesThe Prince of Tides was neither about princes nor tides. Discuss!
-
The problem here is that everyone is talking about KD differential and not KD ratio when they say negative.

Lol this B8
