Bungie, here's a $200,000,000 dollar idea for you. Everyone will agree.

Just saying, most of us know by now the money they lost from bonuses and that they need more money. This would just be extra revenue to improve future games.[/b]

No joke! That's it. Video game movies are all the rave right now. The shitty ones like battleship are gone and now they are doing assassins creed and warcraft.
We all remember the hype for destiny. The live action commercials were inspiring.
For the lack of story in the game, you could make a story on film.
1) Fans of the game will love it
2) effing Sci-Fi fans will love it
3) Action fans will love it
4)CGI is much cheaper than it used to be and much better
Undoubtedly one of the most well know (whether infamously or not) games in the last 5 years. Destiny 2 is coming out next year.
NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME TO RELEASE IT.
I just came back from warcraft not knowing anything about it and expecting a bad movie. It was way freaking cool and I know a Destiny movie would be cooler. So do movie companies.
Imagine seeing a fire team going into the vault on the big screen. Maybe a teaser of Eris reporting her teams failed attempts to stop Crota as the captain of the fire team is being debriefed about the vault of glass. Then the second film would be flashbacks of Eris' fire team and then the main fire team of legendary guardians from the first movie going in to take down Crota. Or show the battle of twilight gap. Maybe show some ahamkara or stuff we don't know about yet.
I know pitching it to a good movie company would be easy as well.
the hype is real so take advantage while the timing is good.
This could easily be a multi-movie deal.

Edit 2: Let me make it clear that bungie would receive the money from royalties and trademarks and because they own destiny. They wouldn't need to do anything with the movie. Honestly the movie could suck and people would throw money at the (big) screen lol just like bungie always wanted
Edit 3: There is definitely a problem waiting for destiny to release more games and become an established empire before making a movie. One, the destiny games won't benefit from added revenue, advertisement would go completely to the movie company and not to bungie. We'd know the story if we wait, that leave more freedom for script writers to take more freedom and mess up the movies and make them worse. They need to hit it while it's fresh for bungie to benefit and to make it good. Any story aside from game cannon would make the movie bad.

Wow looks like crap. Destiny is far from what should be made into a film from the gaming universe. Also love how you're estimating 200 million for a budget. If they wouldn't make halo which is light years better story wise. They won't touch destiny

I'd rather not. Wouldn't be good. Maybe if they did something like Halo Legends? Just because other games have movies doesn't mean all games would transfer over to that media very well. Destiny story, which isn't that wonderful even in TTK, would not be able to carry a movie.

Too many induced seizures trying to keep up with guardians teleporting through a whole hour and a half. Plus firebolts are to dangerous for camera crews to get a good shot in on a battle scene......

It probably just sullied the adaptation process for many franchises. It appears the only people that like the movie are Warcraft or video game apologists. Objectively, reception has been tepid at best. ~Have you seen Destiny's story? Why on Earth would Bungie, a game studio, write and/or have anything to do with producing a movie aside from licensing out movie rights of their IP. ~$200 million is how much it would cost to make the movie. If it only brought in $200 million it would be a failure. $200 million buys you Prince of Persia, Spider-Man 2, Amazing Spider-Man 2, Tron Legacy, Terminator Salvation and Green Lantern (movies of similarly heavy, extended use of CG). ~Getting movies produced isn't that simple. Halo was much more popular than Destiny is and Microsoft couldn't even get anyone to produce that film. There are a number of things that are simply out of any one group's hands. ~Pitching it to a movie studio is hard as hell. How many expensive summer blockbusters even come out anymore? And how many of them are not sequels to comic book franchises? Zero? Warcraft (which again, is sitting at 29% on Rotten Tomatoes. Hell, one look at the internet about the reception of Destiny and they'll think that proposal is some kind of joke.

Bungie should not make movies. At this point, they probably shouldn't even make games. They should just split and move on as support for other, better games where someone with better oversight can give them real direction.

Any time a game I like becomes a movie, it ruins all of the upcoming games. They'll start making everything more accessible for kids and anybody jumping on the band wagon. It'll get watered down and hyper-commercialized. I think it'd be more wise to use their money and time on the games.

1 ReplyThey can make 3. Don't rush it Bungie. You can have 1 movie about what a guardian is, the tower, the speaker, what the traveler is, and the main enemy is atheon. The fallen are introduced as well. The planets are earth and Venus. This would showcase the striker Titan, gunslinger Hunter, and the voidwalker warlock. The 2nd movie can be about how the darkness is on the move. The hive are introduced. This is where the fallen are more involved however the main enemy is the hive and crota. This would introduce the defender, bladedancer, and sunsinger powers. The planet in focus is the moon. The 3rd movie would be the unlocking of the last subclass and getting rid of the hive once and for all. They have to take the fight to oryx. The vanguard play a bigger role than before and the focus is oryx. The last subclasses will be introduced as well as their origins. They will be able to use all the subclasses at the same time.(epic final battle with oryx using all subclasses). The planets are mars(cabal Intel), and earth, but mainly the dreadnaught. In the movies the 3 guardians will face conflicts between each other, question the speaker, and may even become divided(temporarily) because of the different factions. A destiny trilogy does not seem so far fetched. Since the lore can play a part, the 3 movies have the potential to be far greater than the game. [spoiler]i think the Titan should be a strategic master: virtuous and most importantly NOT AN IDIOT. Titans aren't stupid. Realistic. Not optimistic, but not pessimistic either. The hunter would be more laid back. More to himself. Lone wolf. Draws more on the realistic, yet pessimistic side. The warlock will be very smart. Not a nerd, but has very bright ideas. More optimistic. Probably the female of the group. [/spoiler]
