For frag's sake, why is this even a thing?
My dude can defy gravity, bend space and wield space magic, but he needs a little break to catch his breath?
And it's not like there's an actual sprint recharge mechanic, you can run forever is you so choose. But for some reason, if I stop running, I have to wait to sprint again. Why?
All this stupid mechanic does is get me killed in clutch situations where I need my dude to respond. It's not skill-based, it's not balancing, it's just annoying.
So please take that stupid thing out!

3 RepliesI have gone through about 5 controllers because of this since the start of Destiny. Magicallys though ALL 5 controllers seem to work absolutely fine in other games, if you press sprint, you should sprint, if you press it again you should jog ... simple. There have been multiple posts like this, including one I made myself with at least 50+ likes on it and yet ... no response from Bungie on the matter, do they even read? Do they even know about this? Are they even working on it ... I mean it's been there since the beginning of the game. Comfortably THE most useless, annoying, illogical thing that is in the game, why it is even there beggars belief. When a games company makes a game, they assign buttons to do things, never have I ever had to deal with a button not doing what the games company said it should because they can't code correctly. I will like, post and bump every post I see about this because it just shouldn't exist in the game.

2 RepliesIt's just a part of the movement mechanic. To be honest I don't think sprint lock has caused me an issue in the last 12 months as I understand how to move in Destiny on an almost autonomic basis now. Sprint lock only becomes an issue if you are stopping and starting a sprint too often. So simple management of when and where you sprint is the key. For me the bigger issue is when an "invisible snail" causes my Guardian to be knocked out of sprint when on an otherwise clear run, or when a 2 inch step stops you from strafing when your guardian should be able to navigate such terrain without jumping.

It's acceptable when you're smoked or suppressed, where there is some visible and audible effect that's telling you you're suppressed. When there is no feedback about a cool-down, neither audible nor visual, and worse, when there is no [i]reason[/i] for the cool-down, it makes for an extremely frustrating experience where you're mashing the controller but nothing is happening. That's not good UX, Bungie. Either get rid of the cool-down or provide a clear on-screen and audible status of your sprint availability. It just needs to be a small dot sitting in the corner somewhere, that changes from green to red (or whatever) depending on whether you can sprint or not.

4 RepliesThere is only one solid reason that they shouldn't change it. Striker Titan. If there wasn't a delay after shoulder charge or the barrier charge wore off, they would constantly be running around in Crucible ready to do those abilities. Those are the only two abilities in the game that should not be allowed to immediately start sprinting after stopping. Other than that, everybody else should be able to start sprinting immediately after stopping.

I find double tapping sprint fixes it a lot of the time. Whilst I'm sliding i always double tap sprint so as soon as the slides finished it continues sprinting...
