I used to come on these forums and defend both the game itself, and bungie. Those days are over.
I still enjoy the pvp side of the game, when the lag isn't so bad that you swear some guy must have literally invented a time machine and could move forward and backward in time 1-2 seconds so as to never be hit. And I'm still as addicted to trials as a 14 year old is to jacking it once they figure out the pot of gold that awaits at the end of the rainbow. But, just like jerkin the gerkin gets old and you do it more out of habit, trials has also begun to lose its luster.
Enough about trials though.... Why am i no longer willing to defend bungie? Well here are some major bullet points in no particular order.
-Since September we have had Sparrow racing, a Halloween festival, and crimson doubles. Throw in 3-4 time gated items, and raid challenge mode, and a weapons patch if you're feeling generous. All of those are fine and dandy, but they really are not "new content". Those are all things that should have been considered normal operating procedure for a game that has a 500 MILLION DOLLAR operating budget.
-It's been almost 2 years, and the lag in pvp has gotten WORSE as the player base has decreased? And that's after you've acknowledged you were aware of it and trying to fix it! I don't know if you got your tech guys off the short bus or rented them from rent-a-center, but either way, you should probably return them. There's nothing more infuriating than lining up that perfect headshot on a guy only for the game to have a stroke and the guy that was there one second is now right on top of you with a shotg... dead.
- One of the few times you've listened and reacted quickly to community outcry was in regards to sunbreakers. You remember them right? The class you kept featuring in pre TTK launch trailers and commercials? The one that made us all excited about playing? Still doesn't ring a bell? Here let me help.... It's the one no one can even play anymore because you nerfed SEVEN friggin things about it all at once, seemingly without testing the changes at all. What used to be a super based, hellfire hammer throwing juggernaut of destruction has turned into something about as frightening as a midget running around throwing cotton balls at you. Yeah it's still fun to watch, and that little guy is throwing them as hard as he can god bless him, but let's be serious, you're more likely to die from an ingrown toenail than to a sunbreaker.
-with the last major weapons patch you promised more diversity in the crucible. Last time i checked, there were 3 primaries that made up for 96% of primary kills, 3 secondaries that made up 98% of secondary kills, and 2 heavies they made up 99% of heavy kills. Then you send out a laughable email to me this week telling me how great the gunsmith weapons from last week did in iron banner compared to Mida multi tool... lol good one bungie. If the gunsmith weapons were better, it's only because the bullets they shoot could go backward and forward in time to catch up with the laggers mentioned above.
-Finally, the straw that broke the camel's back.... the transparent desperation of your last 4 weekly updates. You tried so hard to get us hyped again. New pve content you say? New light level cap you boast? What's this? A new taken king sized expansion in the fall? Tune in next week to learn more? PRAISE BE TO HEAVEN TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!
Next week.... we are excited to announce a new way to announce new announcements. We are going to make our very own twitch studio!
Ummm ok, that's cool I guess. I hope it's because you need to go over so much info on the upcoming content you announced last week.
Next week.... ok guys, it's been a very busy week here at bungie. Now the moment you've all been waiting for.... TAH-DAH!!!! LOOK! Our new twitch studio is complete. Man if you only knew the man hours that went into this thing. We should charge 1000 silver just to watch it, but we won't cause we're awesome like that, and hey, we still had 493 million left over in our budget. Now watch some videos we had nothing to do with making, but we pasted the links for you.
Next week.... wow I hope you enjoyed that tour of the dreadnought as much as we did! No doubt at least 6 of you hadn't seen every last inch of it already. Tune in next week to go deep into the exciting, thrilling, pulse pounding world of.... audio production?? Dammit who put the question mark on the teleprompter again?
Seriously bungie. A game that promises to be one of your biggest competitors comes out in 5 days, and you can't give us ANY info on new content? There are only a couple reasons why that could be.
1. There was a leftover tech guy from the short bus and you put him in charge of PR.
OR
2. YOU DON'T HAVE ANY ACTUAL INFO.... because you only announced new content because you realized it was probably bad that only 14 people play your game every day, and that new content is so early in development you don't even have a single exciting aspect of it to share.
Please, please, don't let this potential gold mine of a game go the way of ET the game for atari. I don't want to have to watch a documentary with my grandkids in 50 years where an archeologist digs up 345,000,000 hard copies of "destiny 2 : if only we hadn't f#%!ed up the first one".
Give me a reason to love playing this game again!
Edit 1: Hey we are trending! Thanks guys. I'm as excited as a post nerf sunbreaker that got a point blank hammer of sol kill, even if I did die at the same time.

1 ReplyThe only ones defending this game anymore are the desticles, even people that loved this game have lost faith. No one gives a shit about weekly updates talking about the next weekly update that might mention something about a future weekly update that will have some info on the next dlc....It's been a shit show in year two, though to be honest it was already heading downhill a while before that, and they've done absolutely nothing to restore any of the faith people have lost. At this point I have doubts about even caring about the sequel when it comes out, if it's anything like what this game descended into, then it won't be worth getting.

All I took away from this was that Fusion Rifles are OP and need a nerf.
which I completely agree with
1 ReplyWasn't ET made in a few weeks???? A incomplete mess of a game

3 RepliesEdited by Bryco2000: 3/6/2016 4:56:44 AMit's just really disheartening that Bungie ignores it's community like this. They're people, we all know their ninjas and Bungie themselves see this. And they ignore it, out of fear and cowardice. Their game is shit. Year 1 was fun, some may disagree, but when they literally threw the past year out the window and delivered half of it remodeled it seems. This game has so much potential, and it sucks because like I said, Bungie sees and ignores what they should be working on. They don't realize, we are waiting for an apology. Waiting for an acknowledgment that they've made a mistake. I believe that if they would come out with that, it would help. But they're Bungie, so they're gonna try to hype a dead game, gonna expect us to come back, and gonna ignore their communities constructive criticism. But... I believe this time, most of us aren't coming back. Edit: I don't care about any typos or grammar issues. I hardly play this game or visit these forums so I don't care enough to please grammar -godwinslaw!-. you get what my message was saying though.

2 RepliesEdited by MONKEYGOTRABIES: 3/6/2016 12:38:21 AMWhat is most pathetic of all is the response to an overwhelming outcry from their fans about driving this game off of a cliff. Instead of actually addressing any issues or talking about a path forward, they do these little updates and tours that blatantly and transparently hope to "humanize" the development team. It's as if they think that if they show themselves as people working hard that we can relate to then we might be a little more forgiving. Too little, too late. It's like the girl you're trying to dump saying "but I just got turned down for a raise, my parakeet flew out the window, and my mom is really sick! Please don't leave me now!" They had plenty of time to endear themselves to the community, and they choose to do it as an exodus is mounting INSTEAD of enticing us not to leave by giving us incentive not to do so. They must have spent all of their time making this game sequestered away in a monastery listening to the Halo soundtrack because Bungie has gone from combat evolved to social skills devolved.
-
3 RepliesI've hit this same point honestly. I used to defend the game, but the blatant and shameless disrespect to the community has been nothing short of staggering. The Obama administration has been more transparent than Bungie and Activision have. The golden age of this game (if there was one) was when HoW was released and they made all content relevant with the addition of etheric light! Literally everyone was happy about this. It made everything so much more diverse and playing time went up because there was now so much more to do! Then TTK came out and they took all of it away! Content that we paid for is now gone from the game because it was made obsolete! Now instead of 2 raids and 3 PoE challenge modes to do each week, we have 1 raid. WHY?!?! Who are you helping Bungie? Who? It certainly didn't help you guys! The content you guys spent time and money to create is now wasted, and its driven out so many players, and those that are still here are playing far less because there's less to do. So you guys didn't win in this, and neither did we. You literally made everyone unhappy when you didn't have to. They gave us something we were all happy about, and they just took it away. All for what? I seriously can't think of a single benefit to that decision. That's when I lost faith.

7 RepliesNot going to lie here. Destiny has turned into the last relationship I was in a couple months ago. Stick with me on this one and youbmay find something to agree with. Lasted a little over a year but in the last 7 months, it ended up being the same as this game. She started becoming distant and the only time we would do anything is when I can would pay for dinner and/or a movie. When I first saw this happening, I let it progress for 3 months. I wanted to see if the phase would pass. Nothing changed so for the next three months I tried to fix anything that would help. The last month, I was just bitter and done. When it ended, she said "Feel free to call or text me if you want to talk." After 7 months of pretty much waiting 45-60 minutes for a reply to a text, I don't have any interest in falling into that routine again. Now everytime I think "maybe today I'll text her." I think of something and then become bitter about it all over again. I mean, yeah, she had a fear of commitment and settling down, but I didn't learn about that until the very end. It also countered the fact she liked "long relationships". Yeah, long as in keeping you out of my life long. Needless to say, it's like Destiny. 1) Happy for that year 2) After year one, the game took a turn away from what we wanted 3) We did our best as players to point out what the game needed. 4) Everything has been pretty much ignored that we have said. Little to no progress shown. 5) Months in between needed updates. 6) Growing bitter about the game Destiny has become. 7) Any mention of the game usually makes us even more bitter and resenting towards the game. 8) Their fear of committing to the game has hurt what it could have been. Promised a game with 10 YEARS of content but couldn't even keep it going for 1. Basically, any news of Destiny makes me irrationally bitter now. This is the first of months I have been on this app. Warframe is where it's at now. Free game, Microtransactions that are worth the investment, more planets, and free story content (some unlocked through in-game currency through missions).

https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/194943617/0/0/1 Basically Destiny is a game that could have had a TON going for it and still does. If Bungie would just take their head out of their ass and acknowledge the the open world, RPG, loot based properties they promised this game would be a lot more fun and a lot better for it.
-
The game is garbage, simple as that. Drops are terrible, Xur is terrible, the NF, the raid, Iron Banner is worse then before. No one should ever defend this game. Lol
-
I'll still knock my raids out at reset, and Sherpa the occasional raid. But I've been really getting into the Witcher 3 to scratch my questing itch b
-
2 RepliesHave not played since last year. Is there a reason to?
-
3 RepliesI would tend to agree. I was a hype man for a long time. I still check out the forms to see if there is anything new but there's not. Same empty promises and vague hints but always info on pvp and weapons. Answer me this. I got the collectors edition of both games. So I got 2X destiny 2X both "expansions" and the taken king. So why would I pay even 5$ for the next dlc. I mean I spent well over 200$ for a game that I haven't even turned on in 5 months, for a game that you could of waited a year to ship with all the existing content now and would not of herd the "they cut up the game to make more money" witch from my point of view (now) you did. It's like this. I herd that bungie was putting a new ip on the ps3-4 and got excited. I never owned a Xbox so I missed out on halo. I thought this is awesome. Everything I herd about bungie was good things. The idea of multiple playable areas on different planets, different enemys, a great story. But you guys failed on ALL fronts. 1 area per planet, reskined enemys, and a "story" with more holes and dead ends then a strainer. And the worst part of it all you guys said you were working on this for 7 years, more like 7 months. It saddens me to see such a highly praised company such as you just basically put out a shit product and think it will last 10 years. Ok I'm at work and rambling. I'll just say this and be done. Bungie I will not be buying the dlc. I might buy the (stupid me) collectors edition of Destiny "our hands deeper in your pockets for less content". But the Taken King should of been the first game. Not Destiny ( and 2 expansions).

1 ReplyThis shyt is funny and witty. Mostly because it's true though, which makes me sad. I remember back in 2014 being a forever 29 thinking I'd never get to 30. Oh how the times have changed...
-
11 RepliesI'm really shocked they aren't trying to compete with the division hype. Seems like a major oversight if their plan is to just wait til the hype dies down. Especially since division has a clear road map of content being released in year 1.

Edited by Powermix24: 3/7/2016 9:41:04 AMYea , Good thing we Left , i mean so many games to play , PS now offers 330 PS3 games . This game is a Disaster . It's like a Solid shell and it's empty on the inside.
-
Lol all of this bump!
-
Yeah. I can't take anymore apologies and empty promises from Bungie right now. I'll run my weekly raid only on challenges. That's it. This game has such a lack of direction. We are halfway through year 2 and we have gotten no expansion or even a date of one. This game still has the potential to be great, the current way year 2 has been ran though doesn't yield a good omen for the greatness to arise.
-
Crucible is just horrible atm, most games I join are already in progress, whats up with that? Also takes alot longer to find a game than usual. GG
-
The lag at the moment is just weird. Don't know how else to explain it.
-
Next week's twitch stream will be "A tour of the Tower" *Gasp!!* I can't wait!
-
1 ReplyEveryone here has been thru the lag winners... those players that needs to hit the lag switch to win at anything. TRIALS OF OSIRIS should be re-named to TRIALS OF LAGSWITCHERS.... The sad thing is, everyone is forgetting the main issue.... Bungie does not CARE.... This is a multi million dollar company that is only concerned with making more money.... They don't care if players lose or win, and how they win or lose, all they care about is the ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR.... So making threads on the forums and even showing bungie a video of players cheating in-game will not change a thing. It's sad too because this game is awesome and offers a ton of things to do but, bungie is in it only FOR THE MONEY. Does anyone really think that any one of bungie's workers lose sleep at night because players are cheating in a game... lol. All they are dreaming about is buying that new house for their family, or getting more money for their kids to go off to college. This is only a game and getting bent out of shape because of cheaters isn't going to solve a thing. All big companies do this, make a product, sell it, make money, they lay low and enjoy all the money they make from that product. Millions of dollars a month will change anyone, to the point that nothing really matters to them but making more

-
1 ReplyI hardly play the game anymore except when someone in my clan needs help or to fill a fire team for a raid. I also play with my kids occasionally. For that reason I will not delete from my hard drive, but I will not be buying Destiny 2 unless Bungie really shows that they really care about this game. i will not support a failing company that care more about their bank account that the players that buy their products.
-
Year one I played about every day, this time around I hardly bother. double rng, crucible sucks (so do I so that may be my issue)lol. There is literally nothing to do, nightfalls suck, weekly strike playlist is pointless. Need I go on. Totally agree with your points op. Just a shame bungie don't care.

TL;DR.
