Just looking to get the opinions of those who want the stormcaller nerfed, then add my personal counterargument. IMO I think it to be balanced

3 RepliesEdited by Marshall: 1/11/2016 6:22:02 PMI don't think it needs a nerf, but it definitely needs an adjustment. It feels very inconsistent when I use it. I think it should be more similar to BladeDancer. If I could change it, here is what I would do: Limit the range to just outside melee range. When pressing fire, the super meter drains faster, maybe twice as fast. I would leave the overall time alone. It would still last just as long if fire is not pressed. If fire was held down the entire time, it would last half as long. Currently there's no reason not to just hold the button down. During Stormtrance, there should be an increase to armor like Bladedancer and Sunbreaker. I think those changes would make it more consistent. It should be more like Bladedancer, except shooting short range lightning instead of using a blade. I think at times, Stormtrance feels too weak. I've been killed many times right as I use it before I ever have a chance to get any kills. Other times, when I'm not shut down, I get too many kills. It needs to be balanced so that it gets around 3 kills pretty consistently unless the person using it makes really bad decisions. By not changing the base duration, it gives them time to look for enemies. By making the actual attack use more super, they will be out of super by the time they've killed about 3 enemies. The only way they would get more is if they found groups and got multikills. Ever since Stormtrace was added, I've felt like it's the cheapest super in the game. It doesn't take much skill to roam around the map holding fire looking for red on the radar. I really hope that they reevaluate hunters and warlocks like they did with Titans. It would be nice if they made major changes to Stormtrance like the ones I suggested.

3 RepliesBecause its not a hunter subclass.....

I would like to discuss a bad game. Let's talk about Destiny.
-
1 ReplyBuff bladedancer It's OK with stormtrance, float on into my bubble ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I dare you......
-
Land fall rivals fist of havoc. Landfall kills in centre and blinds everywhere else.
-
I got rekt through a wall
-
What I don't about it is Landfall. You get to be a striker plus damage for another 20 seconds! If there's no landfall I'd be fine.

Edited by Flintkid810 : 1/13/2016 7:15:41 PMWell its a little stupid if you think about it. Have another perk active. When super charges switch to transcendence to get 27 second super. This is not just an issue with Stormcallers either, it's just worse. I Think If you change any node if your subclass you should have all abilities timers reset. If I didn't feel like so many storm callers did that I wouldn't have much of a problem with Transcendence because you give up other good perks for it. Maybe though, the conditions for transcendence should be a little bit harder to meet.
-
Maybe just tone down how long it lasts with transcendence. And remove the health regen with transcendence. Otherwise the class is pretty fair in the crucible (after testing, thunderstrike only adds like a foot of distance to the warlock's godlike melee range) and stormcallers are great in pve.

When the same super can kill you three times in a row there is a problem. I know I got some bad spawns but that shouldn't happen

6 RepliesIf all the classes were balanced in terms of viability then essentially there'd be no problems. They took the right steps with the nerfs to Sunbreaker (albeit a tad too much with the splash reduction). There are still glaring problems that the other supers have which Stormcaller hasn't got. Bladedancer hit detection isstillbroken. Backstab is still registering even if I melee someone from a 90 degree angle or even from the front. Sunbreaker can't kill unless it's a direct hit, if I wanted a direct hit kill super I'll switch to GG as it's a LOT easier to use (GG is straight with 0 travel time, HoS travels in an arc with a lot of travel time) also, direct hits sometimes don't even kill. Nova Bomb (going on people telling me) still kills the user in close proximity. FoH's death from above should have a Halo 5-esque aiming reticle so you can actually aim your superman dive. Aftermath should have a DoT (Similar to Nova Bomb) effect rather than insta kill. FoH is having issues (good for the user) where pounding the ground is killing enemies in elevated positions. GG is about right although symbiote shouldn't reduce your time, it makes the helmet more of a detriment than an asset. NS's smoke shouldn't slow down movement, just partially blind and take away radar, the Wombo Combo is nigh unbeatable in the right hands. (Although I do love the combo). Quivers tethers should last less, but have more range. Defenders bubble should not to die to by-products of supers, it doesn't get destroyed by a combustion victim exploding next to it (I think) so Landfall shouldn't pop it either. I agree that a shatter nova bomb should kill the bubble and anyone inside, but not one bomb, although the after effects should remain. SC's should have to shock the bubble for a certain amount of time equivalent to perhaps a radiant skin Warlock to pop it (remember this bubble is "impenetrable"). Stormcallers, your melee and grenade should be exhausted if you use transcendence, in which case the time is fine. It is a fair payoff, if you use Veil, they would be restored instantly. Landfall shouldn't blind enemies near you. Storm grenade damage should be less but last longer and strike more frequently. Thunderstrike should have a damage falloff similar to shotguns. I mean that's my take on the classes and where they would stand :') I'd also make a case for basic melees to be the same distance, but that ones on me for starting as a Titan with my baby T-Rex arms. :)

3 RepliesEdited by Guardian0346: 1/13/2016 11:39:03 AMNeeds a nerf. What other super can you kill you standing above or below you on the map without even looking at you? What other super can kill you thru walls?(may be bug but still..) What other super can kill you without doing anything but just float around the map? If I can die with one hit melee from a hunter while running hammers but I can empty clips into a storm lock running his super and he won't die?

1 ReplyNothing is wrong with storm trance I just think everything else needs a buff to match them.
-
1 ReplyIt doesn't matter who calls for nerfs, and who doesn't. Bungie determines what gets nerfed. So, regardless of what anyone says, Bungie will do what they want.
-
2 RepliesRest of the class is lame so I say no nerf.
-
Super is fine but transcendence might need a slight tweak
-
2 RepliesYou can't argue this: stormtrance is actually less then op because its 1.5 second kill time with virtually no armour doesn't need a nerf Signed a hunter :)
-
12 RepliesSuper is fine, melee range is not. That needs to be adjusted.
-
Imagine if bladedancers had the power that Stormcallers had
-
Transcendence is a liiiitle too long and landfall needs to be tweaked so it's not as crazy strong but otherwise warlocks overall are probably the most balanced class
-
3 RepliesI feel transcendance should have some time chopped off I have been in situations where I end up screwing my team over because I cant put sniper damage on golgoroth during taken spawns
-
I dont run it void
-
Too many dont know how to counter it so they cry for nerfs, same goes for all the weapon nerfs too many players with no adaptable strategy
-
1 ReplyEdited by Ratti: 1/11/2016 11:45:39 PMI still remember when Sunbreaker was "op" and Nightstalker had the unlimited shot glitch, people were saying that Stormcaller was the most balanced out of the three. It's funny how all of the supers (besides Defender) can easily destroy a Stormcaller during their super. All supers are meant to provide a significant boost of power to give the player are significant advantage over others. Nerfing it will just cause another super to become the most powerful and people will whine about that super as well. The only solution would be to remove supers from PvP altogether and then there would be less crying.

4 RepliesEdited by Sixclicks: 1/11/2016 4:04:53 PMBecause some salty Titans need something to target in retaliation for the HoS nerf. As soon as the HoS nerf was announced I saw 5 or so posts by Titans with subjects containing something along the lines of "If HoS is being nerfed, why not Stormcaller?" Stormcallers are fine as is.

10 Repliesall I want is for landfall to not kill or blind
