Bungie, according to your "Statistics of the Week", 820,986 people participated in ToO this weekend, and of those, 133,444 made it to The Lighthouse.
So, using your (bogus) statistic that 25 million people are playing Destiny, that means that only 3% of the Community even participates in this PvP endgame content. Moreover, less than 1% of the Community enjoy the rewards of Mercury! Do you consider these numbers some kind of success?
You shouldn't. What you've created at the expense of the entire Community - given that every minute spent devoted to ToO development and maintenance is time/energy away from the rest of the game - is an endgame activity that a miniscule fraction of the Community even tries.
I am interested in hearing other folks' opinions on whether and how ToO could be made more accessible to more people.
I have two suggestions that are sure to raise the hackles of the ToO pros:
1. Once you go flawless on a particular character, that character is no longer eligible to compete in ToO until the next weekend. For those of you badass enough to do it, you can take all three of your Guardians to The Lighthouse, you simply can't keep playing on the same character once he/she has been there.
2. Provide optional matchmaking. Perhaps, go so far as to have two separate ToO: pre-made fireteams and matchmade fireteams. Hell, you could even slightly reduce the quality of the rewards in the matchmade Trials league, though this seems unnecessary, given that going flawless would be arguably harder with a matchmade team of randoms.
Now, these suggestions will piss-off anyone who already thinks this game caters to casual players - which it really doesn't; a game with this much grind can't be enjoyed casually - but understand that my motivation here is to challenge Bungie to really use these numbers they vomit at us each week, and ask whether what they are doing is working. Ninety-seven percent - that's 24,250,000 players! - don't even step foot in ToO. Successful endgame content, Bungie? I think not.

1 ReplyNumbers say not to many people do raids either
-
Im done with this game! the fact that they give us weapons that arnt even worth is lame....idk why im out doing strikes when i know they are useless in the raid! Also I was hoping that the adept versions in ToO were good at least with burns on them. Now it makes me not want to even try it because for 1 ToO can be very frustrating for certain groups and if the rewards arn't there to relieve that then its not even worth to play again. Also why are they not even updating other strikes in this game and POE common bungie! This game gets boring really quick an mmo should have enough content to keep the players still around.

Point 1 really sound good!
-
It's not a fail. It's a huge opportunity for them to shove more unwanted PVP down our throats.

1 ReplyBump. How's that ten year plan looking Bungie/Activision? Sort it out, for your own sakes if not ours. https://www.change.org/p/bungie-activision-bungie-activision-guardians-are-you-with-me-bungie-activision-enough-is-enough

5 RepliesIt isn't worth it with all the cheating going on, and that won't be fixed till Bungie gets its own game servers instead of P2P and that won't happen till Activision shucks out some money for it, which won't happen because they want to replace all the carpet with gold in their office.

Trials of osirus is lame im suprised they have 3%. Its also exactly the same as skirmish mode which has been around since launch. Stop wasting time playing such a terrible mode
-
2 RepliesIt's an elite game mode for the best of the best pvp players. Pity it plays worse than Battlefield 4 did on launch day. Destiny pvp could be so much better than it is currently. I dream of a day that I can play crucible with almost no lag, decent Matchmaking and 60fps.
-
1 ReplyPvp in cod and halo is great no lag so far js
-
1 ReplyYet they are tracking what those 3% do and it will hurt all of us in the end. Every gun they use every hammer they throw? Sounds like it's nerf time again
-
3 RepliesThere are lots of games that do this. Another example could be raids from MMOs. A lot of people attempt it, but not many beat them. Back when WoW first came out only a very small percentage of the player base had completed a raid. Even 2-3 years after launch. Nothing wrong with having things saved for the top 1%.
-
4 RepliesCan you please post the stats for hm kings raid, let's see how many have beat it, their will be more people who have tried it because people could just fly in for the grimoire score
-
25 RepliesIn regards to their statistic they like to throw out about players averaging 3 hours playtime a day, I believe that is a somewhat misleading stat. Because of spaces like the Tower and Reef, it's easy to log in and sit in one or the other while doing other things. I know I'm not the only one that probably spends at least a third of the time I'm logged in sitting above the Cryptard or jumping on railings.

1 Reply84% of trials participants lose. They don't go to mercury and get best rewards. I'm not saying we need participation trophies before anyone gets their panties in a bunch. I'm saying "is it fun to lose?" Would you keep coming back to lose week after week in a video game or would you play a different game? Good luck Bungie. The different games are now here.

23 RepliesAny thoughts on my previous post yesterday?

BUMP! Great post. Couldn't agree more.
-
8 RepliesI assume the reason they see it as a success is because its meant to be ridiculously hard. And surprisingly enough people are enduring that stress.
-
6 RepliesWell some of us 0lay trials after we finish our cards for FUN. Don't let us not have fun anymore after going flawless, just matchmake us with people who also have flawlessed on that character
-
2 RepliesNumber 1 please. I've felt this way since trials first surfaced. However you can help friends beat the raid numerous times without rewards. People in trials who carry don't get to open the chest more than 3x a weekend. That would be like saying once you beat the raid 3x you can't play it again till reset. Devils advocate here. Trials is different from raids. It's pvp obviously where when great rewards come, you have to be flawless. That is why people cheat. I would never cheat in a game, but so many are that desperate to do so. My solution to it all might not be simple, and many might hate it. It will work though. I want a complete separation of pve and pvp. Your gear weapons and everything else you have is yours. Nothing changes in pve. Pvp though gear is irrelevant, it's cosmetic. For ex. Your character looks like your character, gear shader wise. Your weapons won't though. Loadouts. You pick a primary, secondary, and a heavy. Balanced weapons. Meaningless to pve, you can't acquire them. Only used in pvp. I just honestly don't ever see them balancing things the way they are. With different perks and gear corresponding with each other. There's so many combinations to the point where balancing is impossible.

5 RepliesTheir "25 million players" is not accurate. A large portion don't get on destiny and play other games. They're simply registers users of destiny
-
1 ReplyThe high difficulty of trials now is great but the ONLY thing that should change is classes that went flawless already shouldnt be able to keep playing.
-
I don't know Trials gives raid tier loot ( which isn't so spectacular but hey double loot!)
-
Lol I like trials and I look forward to it every week, like the way they made it more competitive and now it's more of a challange. However the error codes are real and so is the lag... I feel bad for people who cant participate and just have such a tuff time.... I mean really I am all I have to say is get good. Lighthouse or bust mutha truckas!!!
-
3 RepliesEdited by Pure Angelic: 11/8/2015 12:26:33 AMI like how they made it seem like less people were making it to the lighthouse in y2 because it was harder I bet less people played y2 trials since they just *forgot* to leave out unique users statistics

I won't even bother reading any of the other posts in thread......the fact that almost every time I see a guy in regular crucible with a SH!t connection he has Osiris gear tells me I don't want any part of it. It's obvious how probably 50% of the "winners" achieve anything from that fact, and all the Osiris players who've mentioned bad connection enemy teams in other threads.
