Only 3% of the Community even participates in ToO. Bungie fail.

Bungie, according to your "Statistics of the Week", 820,986 people participated in ToO this weekend, and of those, 133,444 made it to The Lighthouse. So, using your (bogus) statistic that 25 million people are playing Destiny, that means that only 3% of the Community [i]even participates[/i] in this PvP endgame content. Moreover, [i]less than 1%[/i] of the Community enjoy the rewards of Mercury! Do you consider these numbers some kind of success? You shouldn't. What you've created [i]at the expense of the [b]entire[/b] Community [/i]- given that every minute spent devoted to ToO development and maintenance is time/energy away from the rest of the game - is an endgame activity that a miniscule fraction of the Community [i]even tries[/i]. I am interested in hearing other folks' opinions on whether and how ToO could be made more accessible to more people. I have two suggestions that are sure to raise the hackles of the ToO pros: 1. Once you go flawless on a particular character, that character is no longer eligible to compete in ToO until the next weekend. For those of you badass enough to do it, you can take all three of your Guardians to The Lighthouse, you simply can't keep playing on the same character once he/she has been there. 2. Provide optional matchmaking. Perhaps, go so far as to have two separate ToO: pre-made fireteams and matchmade fireteams. Hell, you could even slightly reduce the quality of the rewards in the matchmade Trials league, though this seems unnecessary, given that going flawless would be arguably harder with a matchmade team of randoms. Now, these suggestions will piss-off anyone who already thinks this game caters to casual players - which it really doesn't; a game with this much grind can't be enjoyed casually - but understand that my motivation here is to challenge Bungie to really use these numbers they vomit at us each week, and ask whether what they are doing is working. Ninety-seven percent - that's 24,250,000 players! - don't even step foot in ToO. Successful endgame content, Bungie? I think not.

  • Trials is meant for the best of the best. Creating two different matchmaking for premade fireteams and not premade fireteams will never work. By that logic you're going to be asking for two separate matchmaking for raids as well. And if you say I'm bringing in a completely unrelated topic, I don't see how I am. No body ever complains about the way pve is run because pve is easy. But those that lack the required pvp skill to do well in iron banner and ToO will always complain. As I said before trials is meant for the best of the best. The only reason only 3 percent of the community plays is because those who aren't good enough to do well realize that, and don't attempt it. Maybe you should do the same

    • Saying Flawless players should not re-enter Trials is like saying Oryx should be removed from the Raid. The whole point is to face the best of the best it is a tournament for a reason.

            • It's not a fail. Trials of Osiris isn't for everyone, and they obviously know this. That's why there are multiple options for endgame. Ideally you would try them all, but anyone who can think should know that not everyone enjoys crucible, which is why it's an optional activity.

              • Ever thought it isn't because people can't access it but rather they feel why bother when the time and energy spent in obtaining the gear will become useless at launch of the next DLC?

                • But you got remember, everyone can get silver and gold tier rewards(packages) which is similar to the lighthouse and now you get 75 marks per character, with the chance to get trials guns to drop after matches, they may not be the adept kind, but I'm sure they are the same without the burn, so that's a positive step, even though trials is harder now

                  • Trials is sweaty and made for sweaty turds. I play it sometimes when I'm a sweaty turd. Talking it seriously and thinking you are somehow better because of ToO is pretty sad, really. :(

                      It is endgame content literally catered to-that's right- three percent of destiny players. Players who play the crucible every day and have a vested interest in the PVP. That IS the target demographic. Not Jimmy Joe casual who only plays the campaign and a few strikes here and there; not Ronnie the Raider who can solo Crota but gets spanked by 12 year olds in control. It is PVP content for PVP players. The vast vast majority of gamers are extreme casuals. 80% of Destiny players have not beaten a raid, any raid, on any difficulty setting. If you aren't into PVP then the trials is not for you! I don't understand how people who rarely if ever play the crucible jump into Trials, get wrecked, and then jump on the forums whining about how it's too hard. That's like someone who has never played football complaining that they can't win the Super Bowl! If you want to play trials then you need to put in the time to get good at the crucible. If you don't want to put in the time then there is nothing left to discuss. /thread

                      • They won't reduce how many times you may participate in Trials due to their streamer relationships. The live-team changes what the streamers feel is broken or unbalanced - not the casual players. Streamers keep promoting the game, bringing in more players or old players back. Keep the streamers happy, they won't start criticizing the game negatively. Although, some streamers will admit what needs to be fixed or changed. This is most likely only after the community has said it, or the streamer wants to come off more genuine than others and points out the imbalances or faults. Still, Bungie takes their time so not to appear giving favoritism towards streamers and not to hinder a little backlash, therefore generating more "positive changes" coming to Destiny. Trials will never change and prohibit endless play. Not unless they give the streamers something else to stream.

                        • Being as ToO is riddled with lag, cheaters, and occasional DDoS attacks, it's a wonder why. I attempted ToO in the very beginning when it came out. Got DDoSd'd out of the second round. Never went back. The PvP is so broken in this game it just is not worth the hassle.

                              • I reckon that people shouldnt go flawless every two hours. That destroys competition because its being dominated. It was exactly how i imagined. Trials should have been better.
