Front and back at oryx
I can't believe this is even being debated amongst people in the game. When you beat the daughters and you step into the room where oryx is located, you come in the front. Oryx spawns in THE BACK! There is one door to come in and it's the front
Example: A closet has one door and when you step into your closet you enter through the front and the wall you look at is the back wall. You don't come in through the back and look at the front wall. Anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong and moronic.

He stands at the front of the class and never the back. Logic, isn't a common thought process. Clearly, you left logic out of your inference. Ask employee at the door "where are the TV's?" *****I know every store is different, but typically they are furthest from the front doors on the back wall***** Employee will answer "they're at the back of the store" Let's go through this scenario with a Destiny forum member that got a job at best buy. "Where are the TV's?" Destiny forum employee "they're at the front of the store" Customer looks at the registers, then by the shopping carts, then back at the employee and asks "are you directionally challenged?"

8 RepliesTo help you with your closet analogy: when you walk in to your closet what is directly in FRONT of you? Your wall. Ergo, when you walk into the room where Oryx is and he spawns in FRONT of you, he is like said wall: the front.

Homebuilders call the bedroom at the front of the home when you walk up, front left/right and if there's a bedroom at the back, it would be back left/right. I was watching a 48hr crime show thing and the swat team came up to the apartment which was a typical setup (similar to Oryx room) and the apartment on the front to the right was referred to as "front right apartment". Only Destiny forum kids would call something at the front "the back" Edit: I also love the argument "if you're looking at something that's in front of you, it's front". I don't know how some kids made it through high school (if they did)... Turn that joystick 180° and whatever you're looking at is now "front?" I dont think so.

Why is this even still an argument. As long as everyone on the team uses the same term so that they know where to go them it doesn't matter. You don't even have to call it the front or back, just number or name the pedestals

Front and Back is whatever the raid leader says it is. As long as everyone is aware for that specific fight, then who cares?

Not that I really give a hoot, as we call it backwards in game, but when you walk up to a house, you enter through the front door. You walk around inside of the house (oryx arena), and you exit through the back door (where oryx spawns).

Ugh, this brings back the whole "stage left" crap on Crota (at Ir Yut) ...you run out to the right, then it immediately becomes the left side, until Crota spawns and his first rotation is that way, which everyone calls right again. Anyway, with respect, Oryx spawns in the front... The door happens to be in the back of the room. Nobody would have that God awful dump in their front yard, that's clearly the back alley.

7 RepliesWhen you go to the movies and walk in the door and sit in the first row you come to, you would call this the front row? Or the back row as the screen would be front? By your logic the screen would be in the back and the row closest to the screen would be the back row??

Well we need to establish orientation in this space so everyone knows what you're talking about in case of strategies, callouts etc. Since left and right are relative to front and back this is a problem. I'll take front left platform. I'll take back right. Great, we took the same one. Last time I did Oryx I pulled out my MIDA Multi-tool since it has a compass and guess what? North is pointing directly at Saturn. I think it's fair to say that when you look at a map, west is normally to the left and east to the right. North is up and south is down. That's how we choose to visualize it. Oryx throne room is not a map, but we have directions from the compass so can't we just agree that west is left, east is right, north is front and south is back. tl;dr MIDA had a compass, north is pointing to Saturn. North is front/top, east is right, south is back/bottom and west is left.

I still say oryx shows up at the front of the room. Even after careful observation has revealed to me that the orientation of the dreadnought has the back of the ship pointing at Saturn. So instead I will present the logic that "going back" would be to "go back from whence you came" or to "go back to the door"

3 RepliesJust stop calling it a room technically you're out in space. It's easier to call it where oryx is at the front because he's in front of you when the last part of the raid starts.

Your relevant position on the ship puts you facing the back of the ship once you walk in the room. In other words, your standing in the back of the ship facing the back window or balcony with oryx standing in front of you. Oryx is standing between you and the back of the ship. The bridge of a ship has a window facing the front. The aft end has something similar. Do you see little hive ppl steering that big ole ship in that room? Are there things that look like controls? No. Why? Because it's not the front of the ship.
