Zero Hour is designed for you to fail... a love letter.

This is my favorite mission in the franchises history. I'm still failing in the mission, and I love it. I see the posts... here, on reddit, Cross made a Youtube vid... it doesn't annoy me, the nerf "drama" nonsense annoys me. I fully expected these posts. This is a Time Trial mission... a well designed TT. And you're meant to fail it... in the beginning. Especially on Legend, it IS SUPPOSED to feel virtually impossible, but I promise you it isn't. This mission is meant to make you a better player. I can't wait for the Final Shape, I'm having so much fun right now. I have all these kits... it's been fun really testing them. I don't even care about Onslaught anymore... what I got now, is good enough. All I'm going to be doing... is playing inside this mission to perfect my kits. In the FS, I got a great spot to gamecraft for Prismatic. Now, please bring back the Swords card for Nightfalls. ZH is a solo player's dream. It never gets old too me. I was going to make a post breaking down why Zero Hour is so amazing, but I decided not to. You'll either get it... or you won't. I'm not saying the mission is perfect, and I've offered a few recommendations for adjustments. As follows: •Increase the max benefit of the vault puzzles (2min per, max 6 mins) •Add Surges to match the Threats •Let the flag be refreshed before Boss Room and move the respawn there (only on normal) •Change the "Quarter Hour" Triumph to Legend only. However, if additional traversal skips unlock the next 2 weeks. Like these mechanics usually have practical implications. The original clock puzzle was about "time"... These keypads we're activating are right next to doors. I'm thinking there might be an additional skip or two that will unlock in the next 2 weeks. If so, I don't want any of those adjustments except for the flag refresh, so you can practice Boss room. Zero Hour is a marvel. I can't believe it holds up so well. Amazing 😇 👍💠.

  • The timer is fine. The brigs are fine. Still probably my favorite exotic mission out of all of them. However, why is the “normal” version putting you under light? This makes no sense. The legend version is as advertised, and is needing no changes.

  • Personally, I’m fine with let’s say 70% of it Reasonings being: brigs and a very unforgiving timer, maybe give it what 3-5 more minutes is that asking too much Anyway, I don’t mind the tougher adds or the shielded shanks or the ones in the vent area, just don’t want to face brigs as they are by far the worse designed enemies I have ever seen, they remind me of d1 shirkers, having no critical point but still doing a lot of damage and punish you even dealing with them I’m not saying make it easier with less damaging adds, just no bullet sponges unless it’s a walker

  • Did it all on my first attempts and I’m by no means a “good” player. Mid at best. Not every human is going to be good at every video game & not every human will be naturally talented at a game or be willing to put in the effort needed to develop their skills. And some humans will never be good at some games no matter how much they try.

  • Don’t care about getting better… I want the timer gone, easier ads and the loot… don’t want to spend hours stuck on a boring mission, needs a heavy hit with the nerf hammer

    • Alot of you will never know what it felt like to get the best weapon in the game GHorn from a rng drop. Now any decent exotics are locked behind get good scrub and have at the ready an army of Friends to help you get it.

        I’m glad you like it. I most certainly do not.I did the old version with the catalyst and have no desire to do it all again. It represents so much of what not to do, at least for my tastes. - timed trial - no thank you, I get enough sense of urgency in RL, I really do not need it in my spare time - endless repetition - I try to avoid it as much as I can in any Destiny content - overtuned combatants - it breaks the basic gameloop of destiny’s shooter mechanics - puzzles and traversal challenges that you basically just have to memorize and most people just google, because of the time pressure. Why have them at all if you degrade any mental or exploration component into a circus dressage. I don’t feel like investing time into this again. I do play other games and have other hobbies besides gaming. Bungie simply reaches my disengagement point with this kind of stuff.

          The mission is easy if you know what specific items to abuse but this might be the most buggy exotic mission of the lot. Missile barrages during the final brig boss can sometimes be invisible and instantly kill you, and in the hanger bay just after the main tower courtyard sometimes when you kill 1 of the servitors it will bug out and go invisible but still count as being alive and you are unable to damage it and it softlocks the entire mission forcing you to restart. Other than that I would say Legend should have its timer increased by 2-4 minutes to accomodate for the extra ending brig boss and for allowing you extra time to track down and complete the switch quests.

          The fact that anyone is shamed for not being the best at a video game is truly pathetic, irregardless of complaining on either ends of the spectrum. If anything, I thought Bungie was an accessibility friendly company. In the end, it is a game. If you're not having fun, there are other options, etc. But to those who are behind a phone/keyboard telling others that you are sh#t because you can't complete said activity: karma is a b#tch. Try real life. It's always on hard mode.

          • The problem is some difficulty in d2 feels like it's just simply hard and unbeatable at times due to things outside your control. And what I mean by that is if I'm playing D2 and I'm running hard content it's hard to figure out how to do better in some cases especially if your teammates are messing up. Where as if I'm playing dark souls or elden ring and I lose it doesn't feel like it's just simply impossible to achieve. For example if I'm doing the current dooooooog water nightfall this week. Unless you literally cheese the nightfall chances are your not getting through it. And it doesn't feel good to lose because of rng or a timer. "I did the mechanics right and killed all the ads but lost because heavy ammo rng was bad" it doesn't feel good to lose to a timer because literal rng of ammo was bad. Where as if I'm playing elden ring for example and I'm fighting maliketh. It's like ok I'll just learn the attack patterns and dodge. When you mess up there it feels like your own fault which allows you to feel like you can actually change it. Losing to a timer just says "you know what it's this time, you didn't actually lose but I said you lose and I think you lose so you lose". It's not fun

            • There is an additional route that negates operating switches to open silo 3 hatch. This saves a bit of time.

                • meh.. if you can get to boss room with ~7mins left, you should be ok the first run we completed on legend we finished with 18 seconds left.. next attempt we got to boss w/5mins left and failed because the rally banner disappeared before we grabbed it next attempt we got to boss with about 8 mins, finished with 1:30 on the clock it is not a 1 and done activity though, memorizing the route is harder than the fights

                  • You're correct, but this community doesn't like to fail. It feels it should be able to do every activity asap when put into the game, and if they can't, that means something is wrong with the activity. Bungie did something wrong, and the game isn't fair. That is, until they see a vid of someone doing something to beat the activity, they copy it, and then said activity becomes too easy lol.

L.[/quote] What makes you think that ?, this isn't some seasonal mission , it's a reprised exotic mission that only had 2 paths, one for normal and one for Heroic I was wondering what you meant by "Wait 2 weeks", and that's not happening, sometimes you think about more things than Bungie does
