Why MERCURY isn't in the Game
Guys,
Mercury can't be in the game because it's the hottest planet in the solar system. It basically touches the Sun's CMEs and we would all be dead immediately due to radiation and heat. Why do people want to go to a molten rock and fight the vex? These things blow my mind.
Why do people keep saying VENUS is hotter than Mercury? You guys need to learn the order of the planets.

6 RepliesThe atmospheric pressure on VENUS makes it hotter. Although this is something you should learn in school, it is also readily available on the internet. Also, I have a belief that the left time portal in the VOG raid is mercury and not mars. The crucible match on Mercury is in ancient vex architecture which looks identical to that on VENUS. Also the grimoire suggests that the vex previously inhabited Mercury. That then leads to believe that Mercury is past and VENUS is future.

5 RepliesYou're an idiot. Venus is hotter than Mercury by about a hundred degrees because of its atmosphere. In the game it describes Mercury turning into a "garden world" until the Vex turn it into a weapon like how they tried to do Mars. In the grimoire cards in places, it shows Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn which shows that we will be going to those planets.

If bungie did a better job of explaining the story, you would know that the grimoire explains how the traveler made the other planets livable for humans. I mean c'mon man. It's a Sci-Fi game. How come when you jump on the moon gravity pulls you back down even though there's no atmosphere? Why can't I just float through the air infinitely?

I did some research Venus's average temperature is 892 degrees Celsius and Mercury's average ranges between (some number in the negatives I don't remember) to 800 degrees Celsius so Venus is hotter

Venus is suffering from a huge greenhouse effect whilst Mercury has virtually no atmosphere, thus the surface temp of Venus is much higher than Mercury despite Mercury being closer to the sun. Mercury's temp ranges from 425 degrees Celsius on the side facing the sun to -195 ish degrees on the side facing away, whereas Venus is always 462 degrees C (plus or minus a few) all over the planet. So yes Venus is hotter than Mercury. In fact parts of Mercury are actually colder than earth and mars. But now I think about it, I think your playing and I've just been had ;) ,so if that's the case fair play, lol.

Venus has a greenhouse atmosphere. They've tried sending spacecraft there but they were destroyed by the heat and corrosive atmosphere. If it's atmosphere had been blown away as Mercury's had then it would be cooler.
