Do you REALLY want matchmaking for raids?
Think about all the complaints you see with strike matchmaking. Do you really think raid matchmaking will be any better? I think there will be more Complaints because there's more commitment to a raid than a strike

Some people are asking, why don't you want it? Just don't use it.
Here are my thoughts.
Think of it like taxes. We bought the game, we're contributing to the devs pay checks. I'd rather that they spend their time making something cool or fixing something, rather than making something that is doomed to fail.
Most people that have trouble putting together their own groups either don't have mics (which you don't want on your team, more than likely), or aren't experienced or skilled (again, undesirable)
Another thought: how does hosting work? If someone trolls, what can you do aside from quit? Some want kicking. Who gets that power? What if you get kicked because you don't have icebreaker or gjallarhorn?
One more: what about checkpoints, how do they work? Have to start fresh? Choose your own? Then people would just MM for Atheon hard mode, which would be even worse.

I just did my first raid (vog) and hell no. I used to be a big proponent of raid mm and thought it was stupid not to have it, but i was -blam!-ing wrong. I never knew how complex and the amount of team work it took to beat it. MM for raids would fail. Bungie needs an in-game msg board for groups though.

How many groups, forums, websites are there that are dedicated to finding and putting together raid teams (manually matchmaking)? There's loads of them, and they get used by a lot of people, if matchmaking wasn't required they wouldn't get used as much as they do. If they put in a option to match make (not compulsory) how would it affect you or anyone else who has their own raid team? It wouldn't, atal, so why is it a problem for you? As for the issue you mentioned, they all already happen with forum manual matchmaking, it would be no different. And I'm sure they could match make people with the same check points together. I want optional match making on raids AND on nightfall/heroic, people who don't are mainly the self entitled elitits who passionatly dislike people cheesing, or people buying from Our etc. And introducing match making for those things wouldn't cost a lot, its already in the game for strikes.

How about both options, bring your own team or get the lottery. Personally I've met some brats that I would rather not be paired with. If I find a good team player in a strike I friend them. If they like the way we played they accept and we play again.

Yes I want raid matchmaking. It would not be difficult to form an 31+ matchmaking group so any 31 and up would be put in your group (can set any level and up you want). If a player remains inactive or gets zero kills, an option comes up for other players to boot them. Not that difficult.

Yes I would honesty bc alot of time I need a group. But if they put a shorter afk timer so after 5 or 10 min they get kicked. The reason I say that is if ur gonna take a 10 min break then u might as well stay in orbit. I understand sometimes u cant help it. I have a 3 month old so I know when u gotta make a bottle and feed it will take a min but stil theres no point in others having to wait also. If its that big of a deal then add some one in so u can rejoin when done. If that idea doesnt work then they could have a vote if majority votes them out then they get kicked. That will fix the host problem, but thats just my opinion bc sometimes I need a group and cant find one

It'd be nice, but the standard matchmaking would not work. Maybe a mandatory player rating after each raid so future matches are better (it'd suck at first, but in the long hopefully would work), or a conference room at the tower for people looking. Personally, the forums work alright. But it's tough because you never know when that invite is gonna hit, so I usually just stare at myself in orbit, twiddling my thumbs, hoping all that typing I just did pays offs.

Alright, some valid points in this thread. Maybe matchmaking isn't the ideal option. But at the very least give us a formal way of making groups ingame. Chat channel? Meeting spot? The fact that I need to use a third party LFG application in a social game of this scope is undefensibly absurd.

2 RepliesPlease no. Lfg is bad enough as it is. Matchmaking will only make it worse. Playing with randoms has mostly been a bad experience, just because it's more time consuming than playing with friends.

to an extent matchmaking would work just a menu of witch raid you want to do you then click on it then it searches for the best pings of other people wanting to play that raid finds a host. everyone can be kicked if majority vote for him to be kicked also hosts would have the option to open the game or not but the default would be open

No. Because that would mean anyone including all the -blam!-ing terrible players will randomly be placed on teams and make the game virtually impossible to be enjoyable.

It really can't be any worse than AFKers in strikes. Don't like your raid group? Leave n try again. Or make friends and raid with them if you don't want randoms.

All that being said...I'd like an LFG lobby in game. There shouldn't have been a reason for this not to have been included on day one. Matchmaking should also be an OPTION and only that. P.S. You aren't as smart as you think you are. Matchmaking has been around for ages. The vote to kick option is accomplished easily enough. Four out of six random people are highly unlikely to vote to kick without warrant. Also Matchmaking with checkpoints is easily done as well. It will only match you with people that have the same checkpoints you have. See....simple fix. No one is farming checkpoints. This would actually prevent all those asshat LFG guys from stealing checkpoints and leaving the group.

I dont raid & i never intend to but i do think the option should be there for ppl to choose. P.s. I think all checkpoints should delete once players have returned to orbit. Each time you raid it should be a new match, you shouldnt be able to transfer cp,s from 1 person to another.
