Exotic thunderlord machinegun hidden ability, and are there more exotics with this sort of thing?
I have noticed that even though there is no "rolling thunder" perk on my thunderlord machine gun it still has a chance to explode npc and player enemies in a very satisfying and large electrical explosion...Awesome! My question is two fold, has anyone else noticed this on their thunderlord and is there any other exotic out there with an effect that is not mentioned in the descriptions or perks?

I believe all exotics have a hidden perk. Thunderlord has chaining Arc Firefly, Gjallarhorn has Proximity Detonation, Truth has Tripod, Mida Multi-Tool actually has a couple of hidden perks like increased ADS speed, it makes noise when you're near a chest or other item of interest, it seems to snap to headshot when you ADS as well but I'm not 100% sure on that. I don't actually use too many of my exotics very often these are just the ones I've noticed (I don't have Thunderlord but I've seen the Arc Firefly effect first hand). I'm sure most if not all exotics have some kind cool perk like that.

Had a player explode on PvP after shooting him with thunderlord yesterday and thought of this post! Big arc explosion!

5 RepliesYep, It seems to do arc firefly explosions on occasion. Only unlisted perk I've seen on another is proximity on ghorn. I love/hate it at the same time

Got mine from the Deathsinger and yes I've observed this. I used it on the Dark Beyond mission to complete the heavy weapon Eris bounty. Thralls were just chaining like crazy. It's a good way to make Glimmer with Black Idol active.

Edited by CHEWBACAWAKA: 1/16/2015 5:52:37 AMYes I have noticed this farming thralls, it seems to happen with critical shots and IT IS AWESOME. The shock takes out a group of enemies usually at lower levels and does about a 1/4 on hallowed units. Never seen it happen in pvp as its a really low chance to happen, maybe 10%. Also I never noticed it until I fully upgraded it doing 331dmg (ps3)

1 ReplyI too have the THUNDERLORD and just this morning I was thinking about exactly the same thing. After killing many a foes i have noticed that the effect is pretty much random. Its not because of head shots and its far to frequent to be me destroying the opponents grenade that they just threw it. I have no idea of how much damage the explosion does or how often it should be triggered but i do know one thing... It's absolutely BADASS!

Also to you other question I think Thorns shots may have a chance to deal bonus damage randomly. I know the last round in the mag deals extra but half way through the mag it seems like every so often one or even two deal considerably more than normal damage. (Like 30% extra) It may just be a bug but its certainly not as defined as THUNDERLORD's hidden ability.

Got mine from my 1st VoG completion. Havent even used it cuz i got a billion exotics right now (4 of which i havent even touched at all, just sittin, collectin dust). I look foward to seeing these so called electrical explosions.

4 RepliesGot mine from Crucible. I don't have the highest damage upgrade yet, is yours fully upgraded? I haven't noticed the explosions when using mine, but admittedly haven't used it as much as my others yet.
