Am I the only one who doesn't care about graphics?

I'd rather play a game that's actually fun than a game that looks pretty. All these people orgasming over frames and shit. Idk discuss.

  • this is why I still play Halo 3. I don't need the latest graphics or frames. Just give me a solid game and I will play it for ages to comes. Even with the release of Destiny, Halo 3 had a solid population last night when I got on. Good games last.

  • Nope. I mean its a bonus but a good game doesn't need outstanding graphics

    • Certain games need good graphics to make them more fun

    • I play minecraft because it's fun. I hear you. When I heard all of next gen games are on Blu-Ray, my first thought was, "Yes, more content and longer games." It has been the opposite. Less content, shorter games and better graphics. Depressing

      • Art style matters. Halo 4, for example, had some shitty visuals some places

      • People have talked about graphics a lot lately because the new consoles are out. New consoles have new hardware, so people pay a lot more attention to graphics now than they do in the middle of a console generation's lifespan. Just wait 2-3 years, and things will calm down.

      • I'm sort of with you there. It does help if a game looks nice, though. It helps you lose yourself a little bit easier.

        • Coming from a guy who enjoys 32 bit games, it doesn't concern me. Graphics are nice, it's nice to be in awe but it wont sale me a game if it lacks decent gameplay and/or story.

          • Gameplay ~ Story ~ Multiplayer > Aesthetics > FPS > Graphics > Resolution, where '~' means 'dependent'. Graphics aren't too important, however they should be on par with other games at the time.

            • It is a healthy balance. Of course some people would prefer one over the other but ultimately graphics do and should matter to everyone at least a little bit.

            • I choose graphics to be optional. I don't mind if a game has bad graphics as long as it's fun.

            • GOD no. I'm the guy who in 2008 was more excited to play Fire Pro Wrestling Returns then WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008. Why? Because what it lacked in graphics (2D sprites rather then 3D polygonal models like most modern games) it powerbombed SVR08 in gameplay. But I'm an old schooler. I come from a time where we didn't have HD high fidelity graphics...but we did have games you'd spend YEARS playing because of excellent gameplay and high replay value. As opposed to the games of today, where still playing it 6 months down the road it's a godsend.

            • Graphics are always the flash of a video game. They are important. However, with that responsibility comes the delivering of an experience worthy of those graphics. A good example of problems which can come from not properly preparing for such things is Defiance. I am probably one of the few thousand who actually got the chance to play that game. Why? Because I invested into the Xbox's memory capacity for movies. Defiance took a whooping 90% chunk of the entire Xbox max memory at the time of it's launch and still had glitches and bugs running rampant. Most gamers got the game because it looked great, played great in demo... but then realized the only way to play it was to practically get a brand new Xbox, maxed out memory, for way more then they were ever willing to pay. So the game flopped. You can get it at gamestop now for $8. I checked a few weeks ago. Balance of gameplay and graphics is important. So don't fret too much on what people talk about like that because they simply don't want a game like Defiance.
