Look i know its a futuristic game and all.. but something has been bugging me about the scout rifle design. The magazine is mounted rather awkwardly underneath the rear grip. The round has no way to be extracted by the working parts.
Anyways didn't mean to kill anyone's buzz just an observation.

It makes the weapon shorter without sacrificing range because the barrel is actually longer but slid back into the rifle.

Edited by Kilo: 6/28/2014 2:55:01 PMObviously they're enriched with Space Magic. The bullet teleports via space magic from the magazine to the chamber. Seriously though, it drives me nuts that they are designed like that. At least with my half serious space magic theory I won't go insane.

You squeeze to trigger and the things die. Same as all the other guns.

4 RepliesIt is similar to the bullpup design in which the trigger is located in front of the reliever and of course the magazine is located in the back. There are disadvantages and advantages of this design. Too many to go into here. It is a functional design, personally I do not prefer the bullpup design. Anyway it is functional just not in some areas. So I hope I helped. I apologize if I completely missed the point.

1 ReplyAim. Pull Trigger. Bid them farewell.
-
well its similar to a bullpup design where the magazine is stored on the back of the rifle. Thats about as far as I got from it.

2 RepliesEdited by Celer Umbra: 6/27/2014 9:29:02 PMAre you sure it is even similar to ammunition we know now? This takes place 700 years or so in the future, and with the many gifts from the traveler including an explosion of new technological discovereies. Couldn't the idea of our ammunition being different seem possible? If you look at the hand cannons the ammo is a single cylinder that fits within the cylinder of the revolver. I am not sure with any of the weapons you see jacketed ammo similar to what is current except on machine guns.I hope this helps but we have to suspend disbelieve because we still are not quite sure of everything the traveler is capable of.

26 RepliesEdited by Psy: 6/27/2014 9:48:24 AMIt's a bullpup design, it's a fairly common weapon design actually. Did you ever play Halo? The Assault Rifle and I think the Battle Rifle were also bullpups. Then you have (IRL) things like the Steyr Aug, SA80/L85A2 and the FN2000. Added a video of a similar weapon design.
-
It's a bolt action rifle. Usually holds 10-20 rounds. It's basically like a pistol with less recoil and better sights
-
Bullpup rifles reduce recoil by having the magazine in the rear for better weight distribution, while maintaining a longer barrel for accuracy.

1 ReplyCould be like caseless ammo that's fed up through a cylinder, of the round is small enough it could navigate the curves. Or the maybe the magazine is just aesthetic and its powered on happy thoughts.....although my gun would go off at random cause I tend to day dream. I'd be taking to a fellow guardian when all the sudden a ricochet from my holstered scout rifle takes his head off "oh shit! I'm sorry this never usually happens....its just your so hot"

7 RepliesHow does the Sparrow work ?
-
Oh well if it shoots some manner of energy versus metal bullets than it'd work fine
-
1 ReplyI'll tell you. You hold it up, aim at a fallen or hive's head, hit R2 and watch his head disappear and another round goes in the chamber. That's I need to know. But seriously I do prefer the scout rifle. I tried the other types and found this to me my fav.

4 RepliesHave we seen the bullets to know they are cartridged rounds? If it was firing round projectiles like a musket it would be fully capable of traveling from that clip to the firing mechanism. And if, instead of being powder driven, it was magnetically propelled then that would pretty much cover the bases.
-
5 RepliesIMO, they should have went with Precise Energy Dispersant weaponry, like the clip has a certain stored energy capacity rather than bullets, and the projectiles would actually be condensed energy bolts. Then you don't even need to give a damn about bullet drop, the clip can go anywhere that fits, and it's futuristic as hell.

1 ReplySee what you mean. Probably use the 'Blink' chambering solution....

Just like every other gun works.

3 RepliesSpace magic. Also, for all we know, one "bullet" could be three rounds because future technology. Maybe tiny robotic parts that are really fast. Maybe it's powered by the hopes of children. Learn2SpeculativeFiction, bro.

11 RepliesUmmm it is quite simple, the magazine has a spring that pushes every round up as one is removed, within the butt of the rifle is a catch that pulls and chambers the round.
