[Issue Description]
My emotes do not trigger at all during gameplay. I have tried multiple troubleshooting steps, but the character remains unresponsive to any emote inputs.
[Troubleshooting steps already taken]
1. Emotes Equipped: Confirmed that all 4 emote slots are filled with emotes in the character sub-menu (ship/sparrow page).
2. Reset to Default: I have reset the button layout to "Default," but the D-pad (Up, Down, Left, Right) still does not trigger any emotes.
3. Hardware Check: The D-pad works perfectly for navigating menus (Character screen, Settings, etc.), so it is not a hardware failure.
4. Custom Layout Conflict: I usually use a custom layout (R3 for Jump), but even when I assign a single D-pad button (like D-pad Down) to an emote slot with no modifiers, it does not work.
5. Location: This occurs in both social spaces (The Tower/H.E.L.M.) and combat zones.
6. Power Cycle: I have performed a full power cycle of the PS5 (unplugging the power cord for 1 minute), but the issue persists.
[Request]
Since the D-pad is recognized in menus but ignored as an emote command, I suspect this may be an account-side or character-side bug. Please investigate why my emote inputs are being ignored during gameplay.

2 RepliesAs viiTactiiCZz mentioned, this is almost certainly attributed to your stick drift on the controller.

1 ReplyEdited by viiTactiiCZz: 3/24/2026 3:52:08 PMThere were some posts around a year ago that had someone with slightest bit of stick drift that was causing it to cancel out the emotes. Can you head to settings -> controller, write down or screenshot your current deadzones and then set them at something like 0.2 or 0.3 (also you'll want to try higher just to cross this out as the issue if 0.2/0.3 doesn't work) then check the emotes. If that doesn't resolve it then set them back to what they were previously.

4 RepliesHi there, Thank you for your detailed reports. We understand that emotes aren't working for you. This does sound strange to us, especially given the troubleshooting you describe having performed. For our investigation, please consider using your platform's share feature to capture a videoclip of this behavior. If you record such a clip, you can upload it to a site like Youtube or Imgur, and link us to it here. We'll then investigate this further.
