The Guardians Canon Loadout.

So, I’ve been thinking about what the Player Guardian would have as their loadout (or as close as we can get to it in game), and I think I’ve got an idea. WEAPONS Exotics. Now Exotics are kinda tricky to determine, because as it stands, quite a few exotics in the game are owned by the Guardian, as a character. All the weapons of sorrow besides Osteo Striga, all Exotic Mission exotics, Exotic Quest exotics, etc.. In spite of that though, I think I’ve whittled it down. We can assume the Guardian would primarily be using one of the exotics that I’ve listed below. - Khvostov (self explanatory. It’s the first weapon we ever receive). - Bastion (Saint says it was one of our favorite weapons). - Ergo Sum (Replicates the appearance of the Edge Swords in D1, and was entombed upon our grave where upon we found Bastion in the Corridors of Time). - Gjallarhorn (Infamous among guardians, we seem to be the only Guardian to have produced a modern version of it. Twice at that.) - Honorable Mention, Young Wolf’s Howl (I’m hesitant to include this as it’s locked behind D1 and was destroyed during the Red War. Bungie had the perfect opportunity to bring it back as our version of the Iron Lords Axe instead of Wolfsbane) Now, here is where it gets tricky. We need Legendary Weapons to compliment the exotics. If we assume the guardian runs one primary, one special, and one heavy. Primary Kinetic is easy, as that’s just the legendary khvostov, and since there is no Primary Energy Exotic, we don’t have to figure out a Special Kinetic. The Energy slot gets a bit more tricky. I’d like to say that the Primary Energy Legendary would be Elsie’s Rifle, as we had previously received the Strangers Rifle upon completion D1s Vanilla Campaign. A Legendary Energy Special gets a bit harder, as does a Heavy Slot Legendary. We could just shill out and say they’d be foundry weapons, and that’d be a fine answer, as most Guardians, including us use Foundry Legendaries and Exotics (See Surous Regime), but that’s not a satisfying answer. Currently, I don’t have an idea of what the Legendary Energy Special and Heavy could be. I want it to be something that the Guardian has been acknowledged to use within the lore, either by being a legendary variant of an exotic (Khvostov) or being a gift we had received for whatever reason. ABILITIES This gets a bit tricky, but also a bit easy. The Guardian is canonically all three Classes. As showcased previously, guardians of any variety can use any ability, and the Subclasses are more akin to philosophies of how to best implement their Light. A hunter is going to be more free spirited, and as a result, their philosophy toward each energy type is going to be different. It’s why abilities like Blink and Void Wall grenades exist. Hunters wanted to be able to copy Warlock blinks, but found that the way they approached Arc was more inline with how Blink as an ability was achieved compared to a warlocks Void. And Voidwall Grenades required an understanding of Solar Light in order to implement these void flames. On top of that, we also know a sufficiently powerful Guardian is capable of using different energy types back to back, which includes our Guardian, so it’s safe to say that no matter what Class you choose to play, you’ll be running Prismatic. Prismatic as a Subclass, while locked behind Final Shape, wasn’t actually a lore accurate showcase of what Prismatic is. Guardians could already do what Prismatic gave us, with the exception of TRANSCENDENCE. Transcendence is unique to the guardian, being the ability to not just use a Dark and a Light ability back to back, but being able to fuse both light and darkness together into a singular ability, as seen with the grenades. That’s what Prismatic is. Now, it really doesn’t matter what abilities you use in prismatic, as the Exotic Armor is going to be a dictation of what you use. ARMOR Let’s start with Legendary Armor, or Transmog in this case. It’s easy. The armor you wore at the beginning of the Red War (the Celebration Gear) is the Guardians canonical armor, though I wonder if the “upgraded” variants we received in “Into the Light” would be the version we now wear. Whatever the case, that’s our armor. As for exotics, this is where it gets tricky. The easy answer is the Exotic Class Items. They are one of the few pieces of Armor that requires an Exotic Quest/Mission iirc and any previous armor piece has lore tying it back to another Guardian or no lore pertaining to the armor itself. If I’m wrong, please correct me in the comments. This is what makes it tricky. Saying the Class Items feels to easy, but saying something like Sunbracers isn’t fair, as the Guardian (as per Sunbracers Lore) doesn’t own Sunbracers in spite of the Final Shape Trailer. So I just don’t have an answer. If anyone smarter than me can give me a good reason why a certain exotic armor piece should be included as canon wear for the guardian, then I’d gladly like to hear it. So let’s recap. The Guardian Loadout in game is Prismatic, paired with the Exotic Class Items. Your Transmog should either be the Red War Starter gear or the upgraded version in Into the Light. Your Exotic choices include Khvostov, Bastion, Ergo Sum, and Gjallarhorn. As for the legendary weapons available to you, Elsie’s Rifle and Legendary Khvostov should be the choices you use to fill out the kinetic and energy slots. The heavy slot gets a bit tricky and I simply don’t have an answer. As for kinetic and energy Specials, again, I don’t have an answer.
