I started riding my exercise bike about two months ago and I struggled to get to three miles in twenty minutes, I was huffing and puffing like I'd just run up a hill with an albatross around my neck, now I can do six miles in thirty (one) minutes, which is actually a bit of an accomplishment for me.
This isn't meant to be a brag, I know six miles in half an hour is pathetic, but for me it's an accomplishment, it's something I can take an (one) iota of pride in. Six miles is three hundred calories, that's not nothing!
Also my back hurts and my butt is numb, but hopefully that will pass with time, too. I think I have bad biking posture. What are the ethical considerations for getting a fancy bike seat for a cheap WalMart brand exercise bike?

Just have to make sure to keep at it.

1 ReplyOk so the gym probably doesn't want me swapping seats. But one of those Dr Schols style seat covers; I'm not "modifying the equipment". They make inflatable ones now too. Easy to deflate and stash. But I'm not sure about the quality of the air bladders. I saw one advertised for motorcycles though so I assume they'd be robust enough... That's all assuming it's not the *shape* of the seat that's the problem though. Disclosure, I'm not sure on the price difference. In theory a whole Cadillac seat would be more expensive than a Cadillac seat cover, right?

Definitely check the posture, that's probably more important unless the seat is that bad. But some of those seats are really friggin bad.

You gotta take care of your back.
