To add some perspective:
FFXIV, an MMORPG with paid expansions, a cash shop, and a monthly subscription (and maybe a battle pass soon?), sells campaign skips for $11-25 USD depending on how many expansions you want to skip.

This doesn't raise your character's job (similar to class/subclass) level to the point where you can immediately start the next expansion, which is a separate purchase at $25/job (there are 17+ jobs).

People keep saying Bungie is "greedy" but it's a question of what's more valuable to you as a player: ~8 hours replaying a campaign on an alternate character, or 20 bucks.

I've always been kinda interested in FFXIV. Have you played it? Do you know if it's fun?

I've only played the first campaign (A Realm Reborn) up to the point where they force you to start raiding, but the gameplay is much more about mastering your cooldown timers. It's fun in its own way but very different than Destiny. Also, everything I've heard is that the story doesn't really get good until like 2 expansions later, and that's something around 80-120 hours of gameplay.

This comment would be valid if the Poster had said he wanted to pay for a skip. But also, bungie literally have that system for light level catch up. Which is pointless because all you have to do is play on those characters for about a week or two for you to catch them up. All paying for it does is level all your gear up quickly. Definitely not worth the 1000 silver you would spend for it.

To add another perspective. Diablo IV has a zero cost option to skip the campaign when creating any new character(s). -
Don't pretend like the same company didn't release Diablo Immortal.

Oh, I’m not pretending anything. Just think, even they decided not to monetise the campaign skip. -
And that Diablo 4 has scam practices and that the people who tried defending the game just made the game seem worse since saying "It gets better after you beat the story" doesn't exactly appeal. Diablo 4 is just D2 but in another game genre.

With far less things to do after the campaign.
