Nightfall Hero Difficulty Weapon drop rate is broken
This isn't the first time this has happened, but every time the Palindrome is featured I grind nightfall strikes trying to get it. However the drop rate is abysmal. According to the info on the screen it says that the hero difficulty drop rate for nightfall weapons is uncommon. But for the last 3 times it was available it never dropped once. I've play probably 20 nightfalls in the last 2 days and still nothing. Bungie, I understand you want us to work for these weapons, but I don't get paid to play games. so can you fix this?

Players are so quick to dismiss posts like this because they have just learned to accept mediocrity. In D1 right now you can run a weekly Nighfall for a guaranteed skeleton key. Then you can choose whatever strike you want and use the skeleton key to open the loot chest at the end for an absolute drop. Each strike has 2 strike specific drops so you have a guaranteed 50% chance to get the specific drop you are looking for. Running playlist strikes also have a chance to drop skeleton keys at random. Not sure who decided that you can run 40+ nightfalls in D2 without getting a drop was a good Idea but it is a pretty sleazy way to increase play time

1 ReplyYou have 2 characters above 1345. Find a team for Master or GM. Don't complain about rng not being on your side because your "uncommon drops are uncommon."

Some weeks it is bugged -- or rigged -- and other weeks it works. A few weeks ago I spent a couple hours running Hero Nightfalls, and I received a several Palindromes, including a few with good rolls. But this week.... so far nothing. I probably will not spend any more time on it because I already have a few of the weapons with good rolls.

It would be a better use of your time to do Masters. They're really not that hard.

So, if you are doing hero, your chances are much worse than legend or master which would be so much more efficient, and you are high enough light to do them

Lower difficulty = lower chance Do a higher difficulty, fixed your problem

I've done a fair mix of difficulties this week up to (and mostly) Master. The drop rate is quite low. I've had 2 x Swarm and 1 Palindrome. I've had 5 exotics.

Thats because you're in a Playlist that has uncommon drops which means the likely hood of you getting it is very low. This is why people run masters and grandmasters

This philosophy is why I only do GM’s now. Get a weapon every time (as long as it’s Platinum).

That's not enough to make it worthwhile doing NFs using the highest difficulty offered with matchmaking. Contrast that to Exotic drops and it's ridiculous. I've literally filled my inventory slots with exotics but don't even get One Mere non-adept version Of a random rolled, huge lottery pool of perks That needs to change. If you want Exotics galore run MM NFs, but don't even bother for the NF weapon, it's not worth it. They also need to add MM for Legendary and have that chance-drop Adepts - if they're going to run this kind of bad broken system that they were formerly moving away from. The system should work for all players not just those with GM teams and only work at GM. Legendary and Heroic both need to work in the way described too for their respective levels.

The drop rate is very, very low hence anything below master is not really suitable for farming.

Tbh, you're better off running Legend/Master/Grandmaster nightfalls for decent chances at nightfall weapons; Hero won't give you very good odds. Imo, at your current level, it may be worth the hassle to do GMs and secure yourself an adept version of a Palindrome, or at least do Master for a relatively good chance for a base one.

The higher in difficulty the nightfall the better your chances at a drop. Hero mode won't net you many drops. 20 nightfalls and nothing? Welcome to how raiders feel trying to get Vex or Eyes x)

Same here. I’ll get multiple Swarms but no Palindrome. Completely rigged.

I haven't tried this week but I agree with you. Other weeks between my 3 characters just doing the 2 runs on each for the engram I always end up with 1 of the available weapons that week... but never...ever palindrome week. It's definitely rigged it's obvious.
