Bungie really does design this Destiny and listens to the Minorities over the Majority. (I know I’m going to get some hate for this, but I don’t care, I am a Casual and proud of it.)
The Hardcore Players (and PvP Players) are a very SLIM Minority in this Community and I mean VERY slim Minority. The Casual Players (and PvE Players) are the LARGE and I mean VERY Large Majority of this Community and they should be listened to not the Minority. Since the Majority of Destiny Players are Casuals, Destiny should be made for Casuals not for the Hardcores seems as there are games made for them already via WoW SWTOR and so on that they can go play. There was nothing wrong with D2 Launch in terms of Leveling and other aspects of the Game. The only thing wrong with D2 launch was the lack of End Game Content and Loot Pursuit that was the problem, not that the game was “Too Casual.” Games are SUPPOSE to be Casual, not Hardcore like Destiny is being with being designed like a Carbon copy of WoW and making it feel like a Full Time Job just time keep up with.
Minorities like the PvP and Hardcore Players should be ignored while the Majority of Casual and PvE Players should get the attention and ear of Bungie. After all, the saying does go “Majority Rules!!!” Always has and ways will and as it should be.

Endgame is not casual content. Therefore if you want a casual game there will be no engame. Also, loot that needs to be chased is not casual. If you want these things, you are obviously not a casual player

Edited by Boldly Going Nowhere: 9/8/2020 9:59:14 PMCasuals aren’t mainstay players. They play for a while and move on. The ones left, the die-hards, are a consistent, fairly large group who keep the game alive with a thriving fan-base. That’s who Bungie should cater for.
-
I wouldn't want them focusing on people who play maybe 3 to 6 hours a week ... If they did.. That would just be another questionable decision on bungies behalf .. On top of all the other questionable decisions they have already made
-
There is nothing hardcore about this game. Umbrel anagrams handed out like candy. Endgame content 2 dungeons, 1 raid, trials. None with any real repeatability, after beating it a few times GM nightfall are horribly designed, if you enjoy great, run basically 3 to 6 guns for all endgame. Seasonal content built around public events. There is nothing hardcore about this game at all right now. No offence but if you think there was no problems with year 1 ,of D2 you are the minority, that is the closest this game ever came to dying. And as bad as I think the game is now, not even close to that crap show

3 RepliesYour use of majority and minority lacks nuance. Hardcore players comprise the majority of the consistent player-base and play the game the most. Labeling majority and minority off of just player numbers is disingenuous in this case, as the hardcores are their core audience and are the majority when it comes to player investment, time spent, and money spent. That’s what a company should be aiming for. You don’t make a store filled with guitars and market it to a pianist.
-
Their most favoured minority is cheaters.
-
The problem with D2 Y1 was the weak sauce they tried claiming were abilities.

This whole games trash it's out dated and slow. Bungie's doing everything they can to make pvp balanced for all 500 people still playing this relic. No game should be this behind and have this many short comings. Small groups are not the problem low numbers are. And you can blame bungie. It comes down to one word. Watchable.
-
I would like to believe you, but I would need you to source your data.

Destiny 2 Vanilla. Yeah, they listen to that. You can guess what happen after that.
-
Why should they listen to you? You don't even play the game anymore. Why are you even here?
-
They do, that's why we have this battle pass nonsense ... It's totally understandable that they will develop the game are which ever model is most profitable....

4 RepliesGames always balance themselves around the top tier of players. You don’t see Overwatch balancing heroes based off what bronze or silver is doing. They balance it around the top tier of players. So does WoW, so does CSGO, etc. Not every game is made to be casual. Dark souls wasnt, WoW wasn’t, and Destiny wasn’t. If it was, raids would explain their mechanics and wouldn’t require mics.

I personally enjoyed the double primary meta we had, the biggest issue with vanilla was how long it took for primary weapons to kill. Ttk has dropped dramatically over the years so if we were to have a double primary meta again, it would actually be amazing. Scouts and bows would replace snipers, side arms and smg’s would replace shotguns, auto rifles and pulse rifles stay where they are and hand cannons would basically replace fusion rifles since they have almost about the same range. Look at that, simply removing all those specials opened up the ability to use other weapon archetypes that currently don’t exist in crucible.

3 RepliesI'd rather a game favor hardcore players over casual players if I'm being honest. Who's going to stick around longer? The hardcore. Who's going to leave sooner? The casuals. Which makes them more money in the long run? The hardcore. Them shittily handling their treatment of the hardcore is what almost killed destiny and ANYBODY that came from d1 was either an average player or a hardcore one, not a casual. Just like Nintendo is eventually going to have to learn, favoring randoms over your fanbase is going to piss people off. As an example, I really like paper mario. My first one was TTYD and I've never had another rpg experience like it. So I see a brand new one coming out which based off the last 2 games that most of the actual fanbase of the game hated, i hoped they would learn that abandoning your following for a larger majority is a stupid idea. And it drops and i play it for 2 hours and got bored of it because there wasn't any challenge, combat was literally just a time waster and so many of the mechanics that drive an rpg were not there. They favored a casual experience, again, and many MANY people I can see were disappointed. That's not to take away from the fact that it was still going to be a solid game and it DID sell really well, but just like destiny 2 (which did the same shit, literally) it's probably been dropped by many people who enjoyed the game. Even IGN, kings of the "it has a little something for everybody," said it was just downright boring. Charming, but boring which is something the best entry from the game...did not suffer from. So what does that mean for them? Probably nothing because they care more about the casual experience anyways, but nintendo is a super juggernaut that can afford to make those mistakes. Destiny and bungie are not and a lot of people even now are distraught with the game because not even the hardcore can stomach the sheer lack of reason to play. Destiny needs to focus on its main audience, not some people who are always on the fence.

The fact that this has 124 comments and 0 upvotes is actually encouraging from this community.

1 Reply40% of players are PvP players Core players are the minority in numbers but probably have the majority of playtime. For the balance of the game a player only playing 100 hours a year should not count as much as someone playing 1000 hours a year . Destiny is one of the least ,,hardcore,, games you can find. GM nightfalls are a cheese festival. And everything else apart from trials is just as easy as every single player game you could find. We need hard mode raids. Change my mind.

Edited by Nox Lumina: 9/8/2020 12:59:40 PMUh-huh. So what's the hardcore content, mate? How do you identify a hardcore player? What about Destiny isn't casual-friendly? Can't be the raids or dungeon because those are pretty easy. Also, the thing you said, about turning the game into a full-time job "just to keep up". Keep up with what? With whom? You lot -blam!-ing hate Trials and IB, why does your Power Level matter to you?

I agree nerf harpies

i'm a casual as well, and if the 'majority' were listened to more, the game would be even more watered down than it is now. even being a casual, i prefer a bit of a challenge. pinnacle gear (pvp and/or pve) should be hard to get. it should be an accomplishment. not some 'oh i ran that mission and got the same lame reward as everyone else' sort of thing.

1 ReplyYou don't even play the game.

6 Repliesyou have a very controversial title to this post. My two Miserable cents... Hardcore players complain about casuals, casuals complain about Hardcore players. Bungie have not done a very great job at finding a balance for both or all types of players... hell, they can’t find a good balance for much if we are being honest. This game is going to end just as it started. With us being like “ wtf is this”

I agree.
