Recommended light level is no where close to actual light level difficulty. At this point having a light level of 1000+ we should be rolling like Gods through content that is 750. Anyone else feel this way??

2 RepliesWe did for a short while. Whisper mission and Zero hour. They removed the light level advantage handicap by accident. It was the most fun I have had since laser tag weekend. Too bad Bungie is anti-fun. Anything that could be awesome they nerf/remove/change. Hurray Bungie!

5 RepliesEdited by RussellMania: 7/24/2020 9:19:30 PMI mean, we shouldn’t have limitless power and run around 1-shotting bosses with a shotgun. Having a power delta is a good thing and makes sense. However, right now the delta for damage dealt is +0 (the delta for damage taken is +50). In other words, you’re damage is capped at the same level as the activity/enemies. This makes us feel really weak. We can’t even melee OHK trash ads. IMO the delta for damage dealt should be +20 or +30.

6 RepliesEdited by mja calg: 7/26/2020 3:56:13 AMYa. I picked up Anthem (I'm bored with Destiny) and was pleasantly surprised. When I put on my higher level gear, and go out on Patrol (FreePlay) on "Normal", I'm basically unkillable. If I want a challenge, I can increase it to Grand Master 2 or 3. Of course rewards scale with difficulty, so the harder the level, the better the rewards. But if I just want to explore and not worry about things beating the crap out of me, I do FreeRoam on Normal. Same basically applies to The Division 2.

Zero hour mission would agree
-
Isn’t LL benefit capped at 25 or 30 LL higher and the change in damage is only in effect every 5 LL? So a 1070 and a 1074 are playing the same in a 1080 NF.
-
Agreed. Shouldn't be having any issues at all doing 750 type missions when at max level. What's the point of being max level when we feel like that don't mean crap when getting killed by a 750 enemy that one to 2 taps u. It's stupid how bungie made this crap up
-
5 RepliesMy main issue is health increases. 750 patrol enemies aren't nearly as beefy as 750 strike enemies. That sucks.
-
I think we would steam roll through content. Which wouldn't be a problem if the loot invested into that content is subpar.
-
The game is already extremely easy. If anything it should be harder.
-
1 ReplyCosmo replied to a similar post last month and basically said that they (the player) were wrong and that being a higher level does make a difference and that if they didn't have this mechanic then the game wouldn't be challenging enough.
-
1 ReplyThis game fails in this respect. Bungie obviously should read up on the design behind the system of a traditional RPG where levels were a two-way street between players and enemies. And here I thought Western RPGs had a terrible system ten years ago.
-
2 RepliesNow, if its one thing Ive learned over the years, its that if I wanna feel like a "God" and be "powerful" in a game like this... I jump on Warframe. My Rhino/Rhino Prime would completely stomp my 3 Titans, at the same time...
-
Yes. There is no feeling of power after the powergrind, doesn't make sense.
-
1 ReplyIt's called timegeting (which I colloquially refer to as "Lightgating"). To put it simply, being above the recommended light is absolutely useless in PvE and is only useful for endgame PvP. The AI doesn't give a damn if you're 300 light above them; only if you're 50 or more below them.
-
1 ReplyIncluding my artifact I'm 1071, and for example this weeks nightfall the corrupted I find in very hard on 1020, which should be a walk in the park by now.
-
2 RepliesI’ve always felt that the “scaling” used in the game could do with some modification. I don’t want to become immune to damage when in low level activities however I should feel bad ass once I max out my base power. The way the game plays right now there isn’t really a feel bad ass level to reach. The game plays exactly the same whether your 960 or 1060. This is what I’d like to see modified.

Also bungie: if you're above and beyond op we will artificially scale enemies ranks to still be able to whoop you, even more so in "special" versions of strikes, old raids, gambit, etc and you can't be immune to them, can't kill them as fast as they could kill you when you would've been lower rank than them Bungies logic of how an mmorpg game must be like, putting restrictions only when it benefits the enemy ai but never the player no matter how higher rank they are vs enemies
-
Yup, recommended light 750 in reckoning tier one, I join as a 1030 an was getting tossed around along with my team.. literally every game with new teammates we were all getting 2-3 shot by knights..
-
All these people telling me I'm weaker, yet here I am roflstomping hordes of adds with Trinity Ghoul (with catalyst), roflstomping bosses with Falling Guillotine... Man, 1-phasing Raid bosses in D1 took proper teamwork. Now any fool with the right weapon can do it.
-
1 ReplyI don't. Destiny has always been this way. Light lvl isn't a indicator of power but basically a damage nerf system. Lower then the enemies lvl, then you do less damage and it does more. At or higher then its level then there is no change. It's how they keep all areas playable for all players regardless of how high that players light. It's been that way since destiny 1 and I see it as a part of the franchise.
-
3 RepliesBungee can't do math well so the simplify the dmg numbers to a first grade level. If they tried to do real scaling with light level and dmg with the different enemies in different areas and activities they would have to recruit a few people who were geniuses at programming that stuff and those types of people don't come cheap.

5 RepliesEdited by massatony: 7/25/2020 5:14:43 AMLL gives very little weapon advantage. Go down to the tribute hall with a low LL mate and shoot at anything with the same weapon. I did, mate at 13 LL below me got 13190 with a Jotun ... I got 13385... hardly any advantage. It does however give you an advantage when being shot at.... well at least some. That said, Nightfall 860 (whatever can't remember) way harder than nightmare 1080. There is no rhythm or reason at why Bungie has done this. At 1080 LL I don't feel at all (more) powerful in any of quests, strikes etc.
-
The diminishing returns from being overleveled kinda ends after 50 levels.
-
5 RepliesYeah. "The Guardian" has actually gotten weaker over time since the start of destiny. And that really sucks. We should feel much stronger
-
3 RepliesI'll put it simple, D2 is not a mmorpg and that's why light level means 2 dried shits, it will only work against you(tougher enemies, sometimes immune) but never in your favor (you wont clear old content solo with ease like escalation protocol). You grind power for the grind only, that's the content nowadays.
-
I think they should just get rid of light level and replace it with an XP rank climb. You do not get any more powerful as rank goes up. And XP would be a function of kills times the activity complexity. That way you had to participate to earn it.
