its annoying to lose in comp just because one guy from your team left
even if he/she leaves in the first few seconds no one ever gets put in your team again and you are out
numbered the whole game.
i know you get punishes (not really) for leaving a game but the team thats left behind loses (most of the time) and loses glory points
thats stupid
why are you getting punished because some idiot decidet to leave mid match
please either fix the matchmaking so that its more common that someone joins in late
or have some kind of systhem that if someone leaves the glory points either stay as they were before the match or have have less points taken away or atleast have it not affect the win streaks...

16 RepliesI think they need to lessen the penalty for players still in the game, as well as increase the penalty for leaving. Part of it is that salty ragequitters don't have any reason not to quit.
-
In my time in comp I have found there to be ALOT of comeback games. Don't give up. I can also attest to being shit on in ways that cannot be come back from. so... 🤷♂️

32 RepliesI've left Comp matches before. When it's me and 3 other potatoes against a 4 stack of pro gamers and they are just kicking the snot out of us. This bullshit happens A LOT too. Why stay and be a punching bag when there is no hope? Seriously, it's a waste of time and completely demoralizing. I don't do it often and will stay to the end if it's not a complete landslide. Comp is nightmare with the shit ton of 'account recoveries' out there. Pro gamers playing on accounts at my level. The worst thing they ever could have done is require reaching a particular rank for these quests. The system they put in place for the sniper is MUCH better where you don't loose points. I don't understand why they didn't adjust all the other quests to be the same. Some people will no doubt just tell me not to play but that's not going to happen. I want the same guns other people have too. At my age (slower reflexes and such) I will never be able to compete with the younger high level players but I sink A LOT of time into this game, it's the only game I play and I want the same weapons other players have so I'll plod along until I get them. Likely ruining many comp matches for others along the way. It's either that or cheat and pay someone to play on my account and that I just won't do. I don't blame the players, I blame Bungie for their SHIT design with Comp.

15 RepliesEdited by Wintermute 2050: 9/6/2019 11:05:11 AMThere is an easy fix: remove the point loss and more gamers will stay in the match. Leavers know that there is no reason to stay when they will lose points if they leave or if they are being destroyed every moment. By removing the point less there is a chance they will stay even if it is only to complete daily bounties.

Like wicked mentioned there are a ton of recoveries out there. It’s not just rare occurrence - it’s quite common and it ruins comp for the people trying to get to 2100.

4 RepliesIt's obvious Comp is largely flawed in the most flawed ways. Even if they do give you an extra person to make up for a person leaving the match, the person coming in is being punished for joining an ongoing session that is likely going to end in their loss. The mode doesn't encourage players to play it, and it discourages solo queuing. Add that on top of no dedicated servers, people using the most broken or sweatiest loadouts to win, and losing competitive points with no rank lock creates an unpleasant experience.

3 RepliesLately I'm seeing people play as if they are trying to lose. Playing control like its clash and not capturing a single zone. That's great you got 21 kills. Over half came when we had 1 or 0 zones. While I'm desperately trying to hold done 1 zone from being tripled capped and have already killed 3 out of the 4 on the other team.

2 RepliesEdited by CookieNiki: 9/5/2019 8:44:02 PMYou can see where the match is heading in the first couple of minutes or even quicker. Considering that you lose the same points by leaving before the end or by keeping being destroyed by a 4 stack of pro's, the choice is obvious: leaving is the smart thing to do in that situation. That's caused by a poor matchmaking algorithm not by players.

2 RepliesWhen I played comp, that was the funnest thing to do. Leave right as the match starts. Wait a week, then do it again. Never got punished.
-
If it was the Comp match on Xbox at around 5pm today, I am sorry. I got Beavered.
-
I called a guy out for leaving recently. His response was: "I can choose to leave and take the penalty." And I was like: "You're forcing everyone else to be penalized as well." He was not apologetic, to say the least.
-
You're in luck! Comp is changing next season. Survival is MUCH less penalizing when a player quits. I've won several 1 vs 4's.
-
You realize that every time a 4 stack is losing they would just have a teammate bolt to orbit. The individual leaving the match needs heavy punishment in some form so people would do it less.
-
Or just make it individualized. This collective win/lose works fine when everyone stay, but that's not how this game works.
-
2 RepliesThey should implement a system where if someone leaves you don’t lose points if you lose, but the winning team still gets their points. That sounds fair to me.
-
Comp tickets available from eververse. A consumable that when used allows an empty slot on your fireteam to be filled by a random solo player from matchmaking. 100 silver = 1 1000 silver = 12 1000 bright dust = 1 10,000 bright dust = 12

Edited by RedSeaAZ: 9/5/2019 9:43:56 PMFixing this by a mechanism like Overwatch used/uses if someone leaves in first 30 seconds or whatever the match is voided and everyone is kicked back to orbit. The issue is if someone leaves later in the match. “Fixing” this issue with removing all glory point loss or other punitive mechanism would open the door to teams rotating members leaving matches they are losing to avoid glory loss for the rest of their team. Having people join in progress can also be punitive for that new member that if the match is a blow out they spawn in and get an automatic loss with no way to help avoid the loss.
-
Still an issue I see. Bungie doesn’t care. They’re too busy making battle pass content and changing this game to f2p.

1 ReplyAlot of people are being disconnected since Tuesday’s update.

Edited by Mnkke: 9/5/2019 8:36:00 PMNo excuses this is outrageous. Facing a 4 stack? Give it a try! Yes matchmaking is shit but you are using that as an excuse to create another issue. Please stop leaving matches. Sometimes you can beat them. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Start taking some. EDIT: when I say you I mean the people who quit who are reading this. People who don’t quit: you’re cool!
-
Not all of it is the player. Have been bounced from a few before even getting to land. Now the one's leaving 1 or 2 minutes after beginning the match, yea I get you.
-
3 RepliesFunny it’s a big problem in comp , the punishment for leaving is too small. Disconnection should not count as a loss or leaving. Loosing a player should stop the game till a new replacement is found like in a strike. Yet very people support this
-
1 ReplyIt’s because bungie doesn’t care about you or the pvp community. We are like the bottom 1% of their concentration
-
6 RepliesI’ve been stuck on heroic 2 forever in large part due to players leaving or not even been matched with a full team. They need to remove the loss penalty for uneven games. It’s not fair and extremely frustrating for players like me who aren’t the best, but can win if given a level playing field.

I actually have a relevant match to this. Yesterday I was working on mountain top and I got into a 3v4 match, still managed to stomp the enemy team even though I only used fighting lion.
