Well. Except for bungie’s tweets telling everyone to watch other people try to unlock the forge for you. :/

Agreed, but you only knew this IF you follow their tweets. I don’t, never have, never will. Not bc I have a case of the hind end against them, but bc I don’t need them, nor the streamers to tell me how I play the game. I see it simply, the puzzle was there, for all of us. We didn’t solve it, individual fireteams or collectively as a broader community. It was simple on their parts also, they created a puzzle that they knew to be challenging. They were proud of it, who completed it first was unimportant. I don’t think they thought nobody would have fully completed it before the pitchforks came out, but meh, it is what it is, or was. lol. I don’t recall anything posted here on b.net that was promoting, in advance, to watch the streams. I don’t think even the tweets were done days in advance to “promote” streamers. The tweets happened simultaneously as streamers were struggling and ppl like you were “expecting” the following:
What’s wrong with expectations? I paid for a product. Was told a date and time it would be available to me
Every previous Forge has open up times, none were available immediately, all had steps to perform, some longer than others. The question you pose is:
What’s wrong with expectations?
Well, the answer is simple. Your expectations were not met, and you were unhappy due to that. So, let’s anslyze if your expectations were reasonable. You stated:
I’m asking for content I paid for to be available when promised
My question to you is when did Bungie promise you the Forge would be open for you? What very specific time? Last I checked, all the forges had open up processes, some more lengthy than others. The legitimate statement here is that the Forge open up steps were entirely Too lengthy, and/or onerous to even the MOST dedicated. It is why Bungie decided to open it up, it’s why Bungie made that decision swiftly and decisively. But, it was hours in a process that Bungie wanted to challenge us. Hours, not weeks or months. Hours.

Nicely said. I still like that they are trying things like this. I feel the biggest thing is they could have gave a warning after the first forge that the opening of new forges would be intense (they may have and I just don’t follow social media). I will say though, we all should have expected something based on the previous new content. Devil’s advocate here, people probably feel duped. I don’t agree with it, I think it is crazy that we need Bungie to give us a tutorial every time a new activity drops. What ever happened to playing a game and enjoying figuring out the hard parts?
-
Oh no, I understand ppl feeling “duped”. And it’s not out of any sort of reasoning to say wtf Bungie. Where I draw the line is when ppl say: “I paid for a product and it wasn’t delivered”. I just think that is patently false. It’s designed almost as a threat, or I’ll sue if you don’t give me my content. Trust me, I get being upset, I don’t get the demanding attitude and/or lack of patience. We’re talking less than a handful of hours before this community crapped its collective pants. lol

Agree. I kinda feel like parts of the game get ruined when people demand an easy in/out. It leaves the game stale and not a lot to go back too. It also amazes me that people complain about the streamers and then tell people to go watch videos before trying anything. It seem like hypocrisy to me. Stay Gold Guardian

Roger that. I’ve said a hundred times on another thread that very same thing, wrt we guardians can’t even find out where the weekly ascendant challenge is without a video guide. Even though it’s already popped up in a specific order multiple times.

And here’s my reply to someone else. Guess this would apply to your post as well. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/250513333/0/0/1

Of course Bungie backed down. There was uproar in the community. But, back to the simple question, bc you stated you were promised a product and it wasn’t delivered on time. Exactly what time was the Forge being opened to the community promised? Inquiring minds want to know.

New content. Not forge. New content. Technically new content was available. The problem is that new content wasn’t designed for someone like the average gamer. It was designed for a select few that have the time to devote endless hours into it. In turn alienating a large % of the player base from playing this new content until “the best and brightest” unlocked it. Bungie realized how bad their grab at twitch publicity backfired and gave us the new forge. A new forge without any quest steps to open. So you’re correct. The new content was available. So have your pat on the back, mount your high horse and I’ll go back to slinging shit at Bungie for pissing on their player base.

The Forge being opened is the issue. And it IS part of the content. Has nothing to do with a high horse, nothing at all. But, the fact that you’re going back to “slinging” poo at Bungie, instead of using logical analysis in a debate, says everything that needs to be said.
