I made a new/alt account and started a new guardian. Made a Warlock but that doesn't matter for this.
Played the Homecoming mission and then Spark, unlocked crucible and hopped in. Quickplay, mind you.
A level 4 warlock with nothing but white gear.
Very first match: One guy with a Not Forgotten.
My team mates weren't mentally handicapped and it was Vostok so I guess the field was more or less evened and we won the match.
But the very second match: A four stack, with at least one Luna. They completely stomped us and emote'd at the end.
Third match: An ongoing control match. No big teams, only a double. But I entered, as expected on the losing side. I got supered three or four times within the first thirty or fourty seconds and I had no means of fighting back because to this day, almost five years of Destiny total, you still enter ongoing matches without any super energy. Oh yeah, and there were Luna's Howls a plenty too.
Next match: Fairly decent team distribution and no notable amount of pinnacle weapons. Instead all people played super sweaty and tryhard and I lost count of how many Nova Warps on the enemy team got multikills. The alarm sound of the enemy team getting power play after power play kind of made me lose count before we lost around 50 to 150 with four people in my team going negative while only one person in the opposing team was negative and one went 20.0 in KD
The game after that: Ongoing control match again, score was 44 to 97. I decided I was done, for now, and bailed out.
After three matches I got "breaking up those teams for better matches". And it never worked because these kinds of matches and constellations are all you get, even as a fresh player with horrible gear and no abilities to defend oneself.
Bungie, Crucible is in an absolutely abysmal state. Matchmaking is just one of the issues. There are way more of them.
And here you are, revealing patch notes for Black Armory entirely ignoring the immense need PvP has for quality of life improvements resulting in massive frustration only shortly after you took a few right steps with Forsaken. If you omit changes or nerf things for a reason or great master plan then you clearly failed to state or hint and reasons for your actions and should that be the case then you are making a big mistake in gambling with trust not yet fully restored.
And personally, I'm sorry, but I no longer think anyone in the studio is listening. It seems to me now that you sit on your ears and only pay attention when you feel the situation gets dire. The picture I got from the forums and feedback is drastically different from the things you adress or miss to adress. It merely feels like you deliberately or accidentally smoothly move between critique and and feedback. And I think that's just indefensible given the dire situation D2 was in before Forsaken.
Honestly, to this day I think Destiny in PvE and PvP has massive potential, way more than has been utilized in any content drop or QoL fix. And after so many years seeing this potential left behind unused is frustrating and irritating.
I wanted to get this off my chest because, I guess at the core of it all, I like Destiny. And I like playing it. But I think that not adressing issues and problems and pretending that everything is fine does not help. Neither in the short and certainly not in the long run.

33 RepliesPvp is in the best place it's been since yet 2 of d1 please don't cry and get this taken away from good players again

5 RepliesBungie is contemptuous of their players in the way Ann Bolin was of her subjects.

1 ReplyThey only listen if you're a streamer. EP shotty nerf for example.

Excellent explanation of the current situation. And agree, D2 PvP is so broken at this point, that even my friends that are elite players, that often have KD scores 5.0 or greater (since the D1 beta PvP) have quit D2 PvP, stating how boring it is to be able to stomp everyone over and over. And as for friends that have struggled to kept 1.0 or greater KDs, refuse to ever play D2 PvP again now. Bungie as frankly screwed up D2 PvP so bad at this point is beyond joking about. Sad, just plain sad.

It's connection based, so you just wasted your time.

1 ReplyAt the very least you got full teams against each other. Look at my case: https://imgur.com/a/eDJ08kl Note that there was 3 guys in a squad, me and other solo dude. instead of making 3 vs 2 (which would be bad) this smart matchmaking system put me against 4 players

11 RepliesHonestly, I doubt there is going to be any matchmaking changes. I'd assume it would be too difficult to make up algorithms that search for a perfect match, mainly because there's a lot of different variables like level, rank, win/loss ratio, k/d ratio, connection, etc. This is more than likely bungie either not paying attention, not telling us why they can't/won't fix it, or they have been working on it and they just haven't told us yet. Not trying to defend/bash bungie, this is just speculation. I'm just trying to come up with something better and more original than "bungie is too lazy to fix their game"

This 3v4 shit in gambit kills this so called experience they keep throwing in our face. If they can fix it maybe more people will refer their friends to this game but the experience in gambit and crucible sucks ass.

Sounds like a good case study to me. Grinding Luna last season wore me out, and the iron bounty triumph

6 RepliesQuick play is connection based
not sbmm
2 RepliesDidn't bother reading much, because you don't understand, obviously... Skill based matchmaking is out. Matchmaking is connection based. /thread

They’re not sitting on each other’s ears, they’ve got their heads up their asses

On top of the above list (which I agree with) we also have the Joy of experiencing the only AAA title that uses Peer to Peer networking for "Competitive PvP". Until they have a real Regional Host Server network, it is basically impossible to balance the game because it's still "He/She who lags most is the Crucible King / Queen".
