Everyone knows that death heals Primeval, but not everyone knows all of the intricacies of how the Primeval Slayer buff works. The Gambit Design team wanted to clear up a few misconceptions.
There appear to be some misconceptions about the “Primeval Slayer” buff in Gambit, particularly with how the leading team’s buff count affects the trailing team’s, so we’d like to take this opportunity to shed some light on it!
• Our intent for the Primeval phase is that the team that summons first gains advantage.
• The number of Primeval Slayer stacks held is unique to each team.
• If one team is significantly advanced in their Primeval Slayer stacks, the team that is behind receives ‘bonus’ stacks when spawning their own Primeval. However, the number of bonus stacks received is always going to be less than the leading team’s current total. Think of it as a tow cable trailing behind the leading team.
• There is a limit to the catch-up mechanic’s generosity. Even if the leading team is at Primeval Slayer x10, the lagging team will never start out with more than a few stacks when spawning their Primeval.
Our twin goals have been hitting the right balance between elasticity and competitiveness and fostering close, dynamic games. Now that Gambit is out in the wild, we’re closely monitoring the conversation around the Primeval phase (and playing a ton of it ourselves).

As a hunter who like this game now wtf with the Gambit matches you a holes put me into three Gambit matches with stupidity and the last one I played alone. Wtf Bungie wtf
-
Why do we join games in progress!!!???? Buff that!!! How are we suppose to get win streaks? Hands down the best way to lose games and the people who play them!!!
-
Cosmos as a f ing hunter that plays solo on chill days like today, wtf with the matches with gambit. I f ing lost three times by being alone and having people who leave immediately. Tell me how would that feel if you have to deal with that u
-
This is why gambit is awful....”start off with no more than a few stacks”...ha I played solo and spawned prime evil after enemy team and started with prime slayer x7...you definition of a few is definitely not correct
-
Get rid of this mechanic all it does is punish the people who are winning.
-
They tried 4v4. It didn’t work. Go back to skirmish and elimination. At least it is better than this. And if your saying that neither worked, try something else, in Bungie case, is not a good idea. All pvp modes are garbage, esp the comp. I miss elimination, and I was garbage in it. But, it was fun , even against a good team.

3 RepliesWell... this explains quite a bit. It also cheapens all those times where my team came back from behind only to eek out a win at the last second because I now know that everything was stacked in our favor. If I'm honest, knowing that every mechanic in Gambit is weighted towards teams that have lost the previous round or are doing poorly in the current round makes me less interested in the mode entirely.

Typical Bungie bad design decisions in the name of balancing crap. Good thing you guys don't make cars. It would be like we made a perfect car but then someone says we need to balance it with a touch screen for whatever nutcase of a reason.... Where do we fit it? Yes just replace the steering wheel with this and spoil it for everyone.
-
Seriously... you guys take the time to post this nonsense, which I haven't seen a single person ask about.... on the other hand, the entire community is in an uproar about the servitor BS in Gambit and what have we heard from Bungie about it? Crickets... Sad man... super sad.

2 RepliesThe rng for quest steps needs to stop bungie. Please its absurd already. Idc if linear requirements are longer but i played gambit all weekend and not once did the boss spawn and now i read that after reset chances are even smaller for the spawn. Come on already.

For the love of god, cut the catch up mechanics. This isn’t Mario cart. You want people to take game seriously, but then turn around and do crap like this.

But in the crucible you call it ”Damage Referee” You know those games where you’re up 30+ points but then all of a sudden your shots don’t register and everyone two taps you like you’re being shot by a 1 man firing squad! You know it be true....

Weird.

Guys! Guys! Can't you see this is just a mechanic so that all those participation medals feel well earned?!
-
3 RepliesI am willing to bet the losing team gets more high value targets too?
-
3 Replies“foster close, dynamic, games....” ^This is what I take issue with. This seems to happen in general crucible and other PvP modes as well. It has been speculated for years that it happens based on Bungie statements about fostering close matches. Ever wonder why your team is winning by a ton and then suddenly the team that you were beating hands down is now on your heels? In PvP in other games, such as COD, BF, or any other game, a team that is smashing another team does not mysteriously become worse... The whole philosophy behind boosting a losing team is BS.
-
I am VERY interested to know if these types of measures are put into regular crucible!
-
11 RepliesYou shouldn't get bonus stacks for being worse at summoning the prime evil. That's dumb
-
Keep all the numbers secret and manipulate matches.. The bungie thing to do😂..
-
Still haven't seen the meatball primeval spawn yet. However, played a match earlier 4 v 3, our primeval spawned, they had maybe 30 motes, another 10 on the guardians. They invade, we killed them, continue to work our primeval, they get primeval, we invade, kill, heal the primeval, we lose, as they down the primeval first. Something fishy......
-
2 RepliesWhy is a good majority of this community morons? If you read everything and understand comprehension; The losing team NEVER HAS THE ADVANTAGE. EVER NEVER. NEVER EVER. NEVER. Its always benefits you to spawn the Primey Boi first. Children I swear
-
14 RepliesJust remember elasticity is in slingshots as well.... just saying. This is beyond stupid, yet I wouldn’t expect less from yall. Thanks for ruining another aspect to this game. Gawd i wish another competent company was running this game. Imagine the potential 👍 Participation trophies for everyone right?
-
Gambits still trash
-
2 RepliesThis doesn't seem like a problem to me. If you have summoned your primeval, and have gotten your stack to ten, and they summon there's and start at three, that doesn't seem like something you'd even notice. If you're already at ten, haven't you had your primeval out for a long damned time by that point? If you have, and you're already that far ahead, you're probably a much better team. I don't think this explains the comebacks these people are complaining about. I do think bungie could use a better pr person to explain to them that sharing this type of information will only encourage the crying.
-
5 RepliesWow I didn’t think Bungie could get any worse, this is the worst mechanic I have ever seen! Just let the best team win!!

5 RepliesWelcome to the age of "everyone's a winner!"
