Bungie should “have” just expanded D1 and kept adding content to that. The game is so much better. We all love the game and just want it to improve but sadly they butchered it.

17 RepliesExcept for the fact that D1 was built on a terrible game design platform. 8+hour loadtimes, frequently crashed, hell, I remember reading somewhere that they burned out over 400 PS4 devkits just to make the game. Have you seen the price of those things? They ain’t cheap. What’s more, the evolutionary path that D1 took all the way from day1 to the end of y3 changed almost everything in the game. All those coding changes? It adds up and makes the system more complicated as a whole. Now, I’m sure they wanted to make an expansive experience for everybody, but, in the end, it just wasn’t practical to do so. Maybe D2 will prove differently, since it was made differently.

I can honestly say if they had two expansions, d1 and d2 and I could only buy 1 I’d get the d1 expansion

Edited by Ravontulet: 12/1/2017 3:59:44 PMI agree that D2 should have been an expansion, even with game-changing parts to it like the new weapon loadout or economy changes it would have been better that way. IDK why they took a lot of stuff out - from D1 into D2. When I posted here earlier - another user mentioned that Bungie couldn't just add on to D1 with what we now call D2. Because then what about D1 and PC? Is the reason that we lost a lot of stuff due to the fact that it would have to be re-coded to make it work for PC? The more I think about it - the more it seems that Bungie's laziness in bringing Destiny to PC has cause the loss of a lot of things. Is PC (as a platform) to blame - heck no - I feel like Bungie is being lazy and didn't want to do the work to bring Destiny to PC fully and properly. That's the only conclusion I can come to.

1 ReplyI'm of the opinion that, with some fixes to the plot (other stuff too), a codex, and not reworking weapons, "Destiny: The Red War" would've been the greatest expansion to Destiny 1 in the game's history. It has a full story, new strikes, new raid with new mechanics, introducing quests for gear and adventures for lore, new guns and armor, clan updates, faction rallies, new public events, new weapon types, new vehicle play, four new planets... they could've styled the Leviathan and almighty like the dreadnought, as player spaces and boom 11/10.

3 RepliesI think they dropped the ball on destiny 2 a bit. I still thoroughly enjoy the game and don't have any major gripes over it. However I would have been way more dissapointed if they had expanded on d1. I feel I speak for alot of people when I say we wanted a new game. And a new game is what we got. It's easy to look back and say I wish it were still d1 but in reality that would be worse.

People have been calling D1 "so much better", and truthfully it was, but damn that's not what people were saying before D2 came out. People were roasting D1 at the stake just like D2. So forgive me if I don't take people like you seriously.

16 RepliesThey couldn’t, because of the terms of their contract with Activision. They are required to release a full sequel every three years. https://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2017/10/19/bungie-and-activisions-badly-scheduled-deal-is-what-hurt-destiny-2-the-most/#6ee171e23467

9 RepliesCan you kids not grasp that it had to be a new start, distinct from D1 because it was brand new to PC How could they "have just expanded" D1 for PC, when it has never existed there?
