I truly hope that the outcry and support against the new shader system reaches you, you realize how bad this decision was, and you are able to patch it out.

THIS IS A POST UPDATE: (Original post name, Dear Bungie, did you mean to disrespect us with this cash grab of a shader system, because that's what it feels like.)
After the extreme response this post has received, both positive and negative I felt the need to make a couple edits to further explain the communities frustration and to help feed the trolls trying to get a rise out of everyone.
1. I LOVE THIS GAME, DESTINY 1, OL' BUNGO, AND EVERYTHING THE HAVE EVER DONE. This is not an attempt to bash them and I understand the original title was a little whiny and it made me look really entitled.
2. Everyone who has an issue with the shader system comes from D1 where we had an excellent system where you could collect and "grind" for special shaders, some of which you had to work VERY hard for. This was a perfect system. It allowed guardians to express themselves and show off a visible trophy to everyone else. By making shaders a single use they take away the appeal of trying to earn shaders in the first place. Why in the world would anyone grind for a couple hours to get a shader that you can use on a piece of armor that will be obsolete after a few more levels. If I work hard for a cosmetic item it should be able to be used again, bottom line.
3. MICROTRANSACTIONS ARE NEVER GOING AWAY AND I GET THAT, BUT I'M NOT GOING TO PRETEND TO BE HAPPY ABOUT IT.
First things first, if your argument is "Well then just don't buy it" you can kiss my lilly white @$$. Seriously if you aren't a troll and this is your honest to god argument you are so far gone. The point, to me and many others, is that we bought a game, plan to buy every expansion they offer, and have no intention of leaving this game to go spend time on another for a long time. But for companies like Activision to try and monetize an incredibly loyal fan base is disgusting and greedy.
I will not be buying anything because that is the best way to speak to a company that only speaks in profits, but the point is we shouldn't have to have a micro protest in a game where these types of items exist. If they want to have exclusive shaders that are only purchasable they can knock themselves out with that but this isn't what this and and you ALL know it.
Reddit update:
All the posts on the front of the destiny Reddit total 70,984 upvotes as of this post. This is clearly a problem and if you don't see some issue with it you are clearly in the minority.
Thanks to everyone for reading, I'm sorry if I triggered you, get back to orbit and lets have a good time!

It's true that shaders now have more versatility in how they can be applied but at a cost we did not want or ask for. Some of us collect shaders, others collect exotics. How would you feel if they added a cash grab scenario to your exotic collection?
-
1 Replylet's look at this with logic. shaders are a one time use consumable, with great drop rates. gear is no longer RNG perks. add the two together now you got all you need. instead of 15 of weapon x with different perks, and 10 of armor y with different perks, make your sets how you like and save them. it's very easy, very much a good set up.
-
They should remove the cost for applying a shader onto armor. Then make a kiosk were you can buy shaders you already got for 250 glimmer each.
-
4 RepliesSpend less time crying like a baby and more time actually playing the game and you'll realise shaders are ridiculously easy to get. I've only just hit 20 and I can barely hold all these shaders I've collected.
-
2 RepliesYou are Level 10 maybe play the game you mook.
-
I like the added customization that came with 2. But turning everything into a consumable sucks ass. Blatantly obvious greed right there
-
I tottally agree with this!
-
Problem is that they are taking away content at your cost. Show them your Wallet and they will replace content that was already there to begin with.
-
2 RepliesHow are people so mad? It's not even a bad change.

I'll just wait till they sell a blowy shader I like and I'll spend the small amount of money for it. nothing too serious as long as you dont spend hundreds

Edited by Blind Luck: 9/7/2017 4:25:01 PMSo... Complaining about Activision? Because this was probably them. What you don't know, is that Bungee did something to counteract the cash grab. According to a XBox user known as "Mista Satan" , every level after 20 will give you a "bright engram" instead of the previously earned moats of light, this information is also reliable because of the users level, above 20. Not only does this add more incentive to play more after beating the current activities, the reward is also more useful than say- "here is 300 moats of light my faction... What I still didn't rank up!? I need my chroma though..." From this information I have come up with the conclusion that the "pay to look good" is for the fake gamers who won't grind.

1 ReplyThe spawning animations that we put on our ships shouldn't disappear when we switch it out either.
-
3 RepliesThe answer is easy. Do not purchase under any circumstances

Agreed

1 ReplyI agree 100% about the single use shaders sucking. But keep one thing in mind. 70,000 up votes is nothing. It really is nothing. You say the majority? Do you know how many people play Destiny? 70000 isn't much. According to Digital Spy, Destiny has over 30 million registered players that have played over 100 hours each. http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/destiny/news/a793113/how-many-people-play-destiny/

Kinda glad Destiny 2 PC comes out late October, I pre-ordered D2 so I could get that extra day on the beta, knowing I'll have lots of time to read all the D2 console users reviews if I wanted to cancel it. Bungie already lied about their microtransaction policy (cosmetic only,) and now they're keeping their mouths shut about this ploy. They're going to be releasing four $20/$40 DLC's within the next three or four years already - on top of a $60 base game with tons of microtransactions. Gonna give Bungievi$ion a week or so to tackle this Shader issue and, at the very least, issue a statement regarding their pay-to-win microtransactions unless I'm canceling my pre-order.
-
1 ReplySo we pay 60$ for a game we will later have to pay even more money for a bunch of expansions, while having to pay cash to get the upper hand and have a cool looking character. Yay

I will not buy a -blam!-ing one, -blam!-in lame bungie
