Overall, I've quite enjoyed the beta but felt the Hunter ABILITIES above all else were weakest. Don't get me wrong it's not a terrible class (unless you're a scrub), but it's also not special in comparison.
Out of the three classes, the Hunter is the only one that has a super and class ability that utilizes a concept already seen in Destiny1. Arcstrider super is better than Bladedancer but has the same concept, just with combos and unnecessary (but amazing) acrobatics. Sentinel Titan and Dawnblade Warlock's supers are new concepts that are completely different from Defender and Sunsinger; Warlock's new super should last a little longer btw. Also, I'm SALTY Titans have the Hunter void wall lol.
Titans and Warlocks also have never before seen class abilities in using the barrier and rift. Hunters, on the other hand, have an ability that was seen in Destiny1....... dodging aka a better version of shadestep.
It'd be far more beneficial if Hunters adapted the Nightstalkers SMOKE abilities. Vanish in smoke or toxic smoke were much better than the easy-to-shoot-dodge ability Hunters will have. However, at least incorporate a better benefit rather than reload. Titans have infinite reloads every time they crouch behind their barrier, Hunter's get one reload per ability dodge.
It just sucks that Titans can place barriers around a flag, and Warlock's can use healing runes, while Hunter's have to dodge and pray. If anything, it's more balanced, if Hunter's dodge was incorporated similar to the Warlock's ICARUS DASH.
If you haven't guessed already, like many have mentioned in these forums, I too canceled my pre-order.
THOUGHTS?

Barrier is great. Rift is good. Dodge? A reload or melee charge that contributes nothing in the big picture. Its evident that bungie hates hunters.

Edited by AustinSX: 7/24/2017 1:41:34 PMYa it does suck. But don't worry, you'll get invisibility back when they put the nightstalker, stormcaller, and sunbreaker in a $30 dlc

I feel like the Dodge should turn the hunter invisible (not showing on our radar in PvP) and have faster movement speed for a few seconds. Would definitely make the class ability more interesting and it fits the hunter class.

The fact that Warlocks can have healing rift AND blink but Poledancers can't is a joke. I hate Arcstrider overall with it's janky super that makes you go slowmotion wide open to attacks unlike the Striker titans new ability which is essentially Bladedancer and Striker in one. I hate how dumbed down the super is, I rather manually zigzag in the air like a real bladedancer than this joke.

hunters are useless for PvE now 2 golden shots for killing a normal enemey, no support perk, bungie makes hunters worse, they think all hunters are an ego solo whore without a brain
-
Warlocks got dicked on by crybabies for 3 years, it's about time hunters get dicked on for the next 3 years
-
I'm wondering why they spent the time to craft the Arc Strider if it's going to behave like the Blade Dancer? Bungie decides we lose the invisibility perks and the super extender because that's unfair in PvP apparently because everyone needs to play the same. Forget practice, technique and timing, Forget that you can't use supers except to win/lose a clutch game

I think that if they sped up the roll animation and lowered the cooldown it would be alright. Even if they can insta reload multiple times or heal (which I think doesn't work if you're taking damage btw, I've stood in it and had nothing happen after being shot once lol) they have to stay in place. Hunters can empty their clip roll to suit their purpose and come out firing immediately.

My thought was to just change the dodge to a blink dodge or sidestep giving one invulnerability during the move.

I know their probably gonna take what I said and give it to blade dancer. Blade dancer will probably make a comeback. I don't think their gonna limit guardians to three subclasses again and just go for 6. That's why I think they took away the perk trees. They probably add the stealth mechanics to blade dancer since that was it's main use in destiny one. Arc strider is made for surviving close engagements. Lastly the hunters perk is more useful if I know how to use it. It's doesn't just dodge but it can automatically reload ur gun or melee ability. Hunters are the most powerful in pvp now with second being titans and that just because map space forces u to engage close quarters.

You could quit bitching. That's a start

i dont do hunters but id have to say i thought their special ability should have been invisble smoke to exit from a gun fight they couldnt win. stacks their agility to escape and takes their weapons away while invisible
-
Remember D1 subclasses also sucked with out exotics.
-
3 RepliesWay too early to complain about this. For one those new third abilities all kind of suck. Second, we don't have all the subclasses and we don't have exotic armor. If this new ability is your biggest complaint, I'd highly recommend waiting for the full game.

I'd recommend they just remake it. Perhaps like this: Hunter Dodge I was thinking making it drop a trap where you dodge from. The trap would suppress and make an enemy trapped in it stand still for 2 seconds and do like 20 damage(less than a high impact scout rifle body shot damage(it does 37)). And it would have a similar circle around it on the ground to the healing/ empowering rift on the warlocks that when a teammate passes through the area, they get increased Handling, Stability, and movement speed for 10-15 seconds. The trap would be great to prevent enemies in PvP from chasing after you, and in PvE you could dodge around a tough enemy to prevent it from using abilities and moving around while your team could focus it and kill it faster. This would help nicely in both PvP and PvE. Imagine playing hunter and dodging next to a power ammo pick up a little bit before it spawns... and an enemy tries to pick it up, but gets trapped. It wouldn't be OP. To counter it, shoot or use an ability on the trap to destroy it, you could still shoot while you're trapped and it's only for 2 seconds. But the trap would have to be invincible after activation so it is actually useful. I'm not sure how you could make this 2 choices in the subclass tree. Possibly the other one can be a rift like thing again, but teammates that pass through turn invisible for 3.5 seconds? Enemies could take damage and be slowed when walking through.

Warlock Main here. Hunters got shafted. I'm sorry. They're my secondary, I feel you.

1 Replyoh no the hunter is actually balanced now so awful
