Was your time wasted grinding and building your character
I was very disappointed when I read the news. I felt all the time I and my son and friends put into getting all the gear and leveling up our light levels was a waste. All of the other games we didn't bother playing what a waste. One of the things that attracted us to Destiny was the fact that it was supposed to be a ten year saga to watch our characters evolve and to grow almost like having a friend to keep coming back to and enjoy there companionship . Now what bungie is doing is just another continuation game Destiny 2 then 3 then 4. Just keep wiping your progress and starting over. Who really cares about saving the looks of your character most guardians never remove there helmets. Your looks were your armor shaders emblems types of weapons slung on your back your Raid gear or Iron banner gear etc etc. Now you (Bungie ) want us to continue with you to do it ALL over again with just different planets different gear different weapons but probably the same old grind. Here's an idea how about sticking to the original plan , KEEPING what we already have achieved our levels our light OUR things and building on that. Moving forward on our original characters as a base going to a new Galaxy. Probably not because it's easier just to erase all our progress I mean we're only the players. Well I will end this rant with one word DISAPPOINTMENT

6 RepliesGet over it. No other game has let you transfer gear and max level items and characters to the next game. Next DLC yes but not game. Time wasted? Hell no. Met my best friend, a great group of friends, and my fiance playing this game. All great memories all those friendships are lasting. That is way more then any dumb gun that I can get in the next game anyways

Based on other games, all new characters are the norm. But Destiny always claimed to be different, it now looks like they are just like everyone else. I like the idea of my characters carrying over, but I would like a one time ability to change a character. Improve or change a few characteristics. So are we sinking a couple years into D2 before Bungie decides on D3. It has for the most part been fun to play Destiny, and I hope the servers continue for at least a year after D2 is released so players can continue to upgrade their current settings.. And maybe iron Banner does show up for more fun. The time I spent on Destiny has helped me in retirement, but it would be nice for at least one character to drag over it's levels and maybe a few weapons but not everything. It will make the transition better. Now it is no better than breaking the seal on a brand new game. And I found few games as much fun as Destiny. That's why i am waiting before I jump off that bridge.

You get to keep your character, not his gear. The argument that gear makes the character doesn't really hold alot of water. For instance our raid gear. Which raid gear? I don't see anyone walking around with their vault of glass gear on. I used to be proud of my VoG gear, but was replaced immediately upon the release of Dark below, and Crota's end raid. Which btw was replaced upon release of House of wolves, that was replaced with kings fall, that has been replaced. Looks like that trend is just continuing with the release of destiny 2. Not to mention that While I have enjoyed Destiny, I am ready for the NEW game. One that continues the Destiny story, but feels like a new game. People complain about the new weapons just being reskins of old weapons, and now people are bitching that the new game bring all their old weapons to be brought with them, instead of Bungie giving us new weapons..................Which would lead to people bitching about the lack of new weapons. Not to mention they would also have to bring all the destiny perks along with the weapons and gear. So Bungie would be handicapped by keeping those things instead of making a "new" game. Like we need guerilla fighter to continue on to Destiny 2.

I don't know for sure if it was or not. Is it a waste of time for a monkey to fling poo against the wall to see if it sticks? Maybe, maybe not. But the monkey doesn't care and keeps tossing. I guess I'll keep playing even though it may be a waste of time.

This was before the new consoles came out and Bungie realised they need a new engine and an overhaul. I for on am happy I want new things. You people complain about not having new content but when Bungie says they will give you a whole games worth, you want your old stuff back!

We all know it's a video game and there are thousands of them out there but like any MMO style game, people loved to improve their characters, build them up, make them badasses. Why continue to play this particular game If what your hunting for is irrelevant . I know it would be foolish to try and carry everything over but a choice of 5 items would be nice. It can be a combination of things . Maybe a Emblem, weapon, armor piece , shader sparrow, or simply 5 weapons that you really want to see continue, upgradable of course. Break these items down as the years progress so that when a new player comes in , he or she will have an idea of how archaic the weapon or armor is and in that sense it takes on its own form of nostalgia. Without any sense of a continuation, other than the shell of your character moving forward, there really is no further point to finish out the year. In that regards, Destiny 2 will simply be another video game and like I said; there are thousands of them. Good luck all.

I play video games for entertainment. Also, why would I want to buy a brand new game full of old content? Give us new stuff bungie, give us new stuff...... we are tired of old stuff, but let us take it anyways. With each new "season" or "era" brings new stuff to collect, nobody rocks kings fall gear or PoE gear... if they even still have it.

Did you not get to use everything you got, and worked on, in D1... on all of the stuff in D1? It's not a waste. Why would you want D2 limited to fit with all of our loot we have now? New everything means... New everything, and the fun of developing all of that again. Do you people, that are freaking out about this, freak out when every game you've played makes you start over in the sequels? Heck, when I first started playing video games, nothing ever carried over. I spent so much time collecting weapons and materia in FFVII, but when FFVIII finally came out, I couldn't even imagine all of that stuff carrying over, but I didn't care. I was excited to see what new things they came up with.

I can understand where you're coming from. But also think of this, in order for us to get new shiny stuff to collect, they have to get rid of the old. They may have a completely different system for like ships, shaders etc. Destiny 1 isnt going anywhere so if you want to still play it you can, alongside Destiny 2.

No it was fun playing the game . I'm all for lets start fresh , cause this game has been in hot mess ever since 2013 . Since we know Destiny had a rocky start , the way its coded there is no way to even separate pvp from pve . i want new stuff . LAst word , Palidrome , NLB , all that crap needs to be left behind

Truly I don't mind as long as I can stay the same guardian, which it seems like they are doing. If I were to change guardians it just wouldn't be the same to me.

I feel sad, but I think there are only two ways destiny cpuld have gone. Keep extending the first game with the same weapons or reboot almost fully. I do not think destiny could do the first for that long time. But at least they could import some armour and exotics.

I just want like a trophy or display room. Have my Outbreak Prime or Touch of Malice, Sleeper, Black spindle or some other weapons up on display rack. Obviously you'd be the only one to be able to see it, but still.
