Was your time wasted grinding and building your character
I was very disappointed when I read the news. I felt all the time I and my son and friends put into getting all the gear and leveling up our light levels was a waste. All of the other games we didn't bother playing what a waste. One of the things that attracted us to Destiny was the fact that it was supposed to be a ten year saga to watch our characters evolve and to grow almost like having a friend to keep coming back to and enjoy there companionship . Now what bungie is doing is just another continuation game Destiny 2 then 3 then 4. Just keep wiping your progress and starting over. Who really cares about saving the looks of your character most guardians never remove there helmets. Your looks were your armor shaders emblems types of weapons slung on your back your Raid gear or Iron banner gear etc etc. Now you (Bungie ) want us to continue with you to do it ALL over again with just different planets different gear different weapons but probably the same old grind. Here's an idea how about sticking to the original plan , KEEPING what we already have achieved our levels our light OUR things and building on that. Moving forward on our original characters as a base going to a new Galaxy. Probably not because it's easier just to erase all our progress I mean we're only the players. Well I will end this rant with one word DISAPPOINTMENT

And there are those players that just grind away no matter the game. They get their team together and play for ten hours straight. New or old it doesn't matter to them. Get that fancy gear and weapons then bitch at those that don't play as well as them. D2 will give them the chance to start over grinding and bitching.

EVERY video game is essentially a waste of time. You could even argue life itself is a waste of time.

I don't think it's been a waste of my time because I spent all my time grinding for Destiny, not Destiny 2.

4 RepliesKilling off the game pretty much goes against this style of game. If I were one of those people who played some 8000+ hours in World of Warcraft..... then suddenly they're like "thanks for playing!.... buy the new one!" I'd be like uuuuh.... no. This is where those Minecraft-style games tend to excel... client and server are both client side, so you'll know you can always keep your progress. Killing off D1 rare items for me and many people kills off D2's rare items even before they exist.

1 ReplyAfter 1300hrs of game time, I can hardly complain. I've gotten more than my share value out of this game, and most likely will play steadily up until destiny 2 comes out. I enjoy the worlds, the gameplay, the feel of the whole experience. And the fact that I get to create new characters with hopefully more options, an idea of how armor looks when you're helmetless, and so on, well that just adds to it. I doubt I'll bring any characters over to destiny 2 (unless you need 1 to prove you played before, then my titan will survive the transition.) But in my mind, whatever stuff goes down, my warlock and hunter didn't make it, so my titan is gaining two new allies lol.

I'm not trolling like some others. I'm a week one casual and think its not a waste of time. I've met some pretty awesome gamers and had a blast doing so. From playing with elitists to playing Nightfall with a drunk which took over two hours to complete in year one. Just weeks before the DLC hit that made our year one gear obsolete I finally picked up my ghally from Crotas End HM. This week I've finally hit lvl 5 in Iron Banner, finished my thorn bounty, and hit 400 light. I made two new friends and we plan to raid and knock out Nightfall's. It's not all about the game to me. The new gear will be better or I hope so. New things to do isn't so bad to me.

i dont think my time was a watse, the game served it purpose and kept me entertained, as long as there is some kind of throwback to d1, same character likeness, emblems, grimoire, and things dont don't directly benefit gameplay would be enough for me, or access to old weapons when you reach a certain level in d2 as a reward for all the hard work put in, that would be pretty cool, but in terms of subclasses, armour, and weapons, I'm more than excited to start again with new things, im sure particularly popular exotics and legendaries will be brought forward to pay homage, they wont clean the slate of destinys history, were still in the same universe at the same time after all, im hoping well get a chance to play as a fallen, id honeslty probably just sigh if they said "hey were gonna increase the light level to 600 and look at all this content weve added and the graphics are a little better" i want new formats, more detailed skill trees, bigger worlds and more incentive to explore

4 RepliesI skipped all your post and just read the title (sorry by the way) Does it really bother you that much...? How often do you people actually switch your weapons or your classes or any of this? How long did it actually take you to grind your character from level 1-20? How long in year 3 did it take to get to 400, and all your other characters to 400? My greatest question to you is this: Why do you WANT to keep this stuff? Sure the armor might look cool, or the guns might be fun, but what are you REALLY going to be missing? Most, if not all people, will just be grinding to get that God roll weapon (if they still exist) and people have been doing this since the start of the game. Dlc after dlc people would do this, so why now does it bother you? Sure certain weapons are unforgetful. Like my trusty jewel of Osiris adept with solar burn...I miss that gun, but not so much so that I should always be able to cling to it. They want use to try new things, and I understand if your emotionally attached to this game that it's hard, but the end of a story leads to the beginning of a new one (cliche I know) Give them a chance to clear things up a bit more before you get angry

While I'd like to be able to carry over some of my gear I don't see it as a big loss. Besides if they did let us bring old gear forward I doubt it would be useful for long and would probably just end up taking up space in our new vault or what ever storage system they give us. Though I wouldn't mind if we're able to keep a few of our old emblems and emotes.

Did you feel a sense a satisfactory when you finally got that God roll weapon or when you finally beat the raid boss for the first time? Okay then, your time and money was NOT wasted. Grow up or go play mine craft. I'm tired of the cry babies in this community. Destiny legit had the bitchiest community ever

1 ReplyFirst off, its just a game. The only purpose of a game is for one's own personal enjoyment and entertainment. I don't know about you but I enjoyed the grind and I have no regrets. So i'm looking forward to a sequel and starting fresh. There are more challenges to conquer and more gear to aquire, so yeah, bring on the sequel.
