I was very disappointed when I read the news. I felt all the time I and my son and friends put into getting all the gear and leveling up our light levels was a waste. All of the other games we didn't bother playing what a waste. One of the things that attracted us to Destiny was the fact that it was supposed to be a ten year saga to watch our characters evolve and to grow almost like having a friend to keep coming back to and enjoy there companionship . Now what bungie is doing is just another continuation game Destiny 2 then 3 then 4. Just keep wiping your progress and starting over. Who really cares about saving the looks of your character most guardians never remove there helmets. Your looks were your armor shaders emblems types of weapons slung on your back your Raid gear or Iron banner gear etc etc. Now you (Bungie ) want us to continue with you to do it ALL over again with just different planets different gear different weapons but probably the same old grind. Here's an idea how about sticking to the original plan , KEEPING what we already have achieved our levels our light OUR things and building on that. Moving forward on our original characters as a base going to a new Galaxy. Probably not because it's easier just to erase all our progress I mean we're only the players. Well I will end this rant with one word DISAPPOINTMENT

I'm sad, but the I'm fine with leaving my character here. I had some fun times with this game and I'm fine with making new memories in a new game.
-
Kinda feel the same, but the game is more fun now im not trying to get "x". I started on the first curse and chaperone quests over the weekend. Didnt care that ib was on. Im sure d1 servers will stay up for a while. But eventually just like the ps3 and 360. They will disappear.

Edited by Zee: 3/6/2017 1:38:42 AMTaking my memories with me. Losing gear would level the playing field and incentivise the grind !

Don't worry bro, they said all these items will still be available in Destiny 1. So in year 3 of Destiny 2, which would be year 6 of Destiny 1, while everyone else is complaining that our D2 items are being left behind when D3 drops, you can be laughing at us all using your Fatebringer to kill dregs in the Cosmodrome. Cause you continued to play D1 in protest of losing your precious gear while we all moved on to bigger and better things in the Destiny universe.

I don't feel my time was any more wasted in this game than it would have been wasted watching tv, reading a book, taking hikes, working out, or any other myriad of things I could have done instead. I paid my money to play a game, I played it. I'll do it again, not only in destiny 2 but in other games I'm the future I'm sure.

No. Just like when new halo's come out your armors you collected don't carry over to where you already have them. You gotta unlock them. I got recon in Halo 3, enjoyed it when I had it. Then when halo reach came around I had to farm levels and creds to get it back. People are crying about losing their armors and weapons but more than likely a couple weapons from D1 will be available in D2 as kinda a throw back to the classic.

2 RepliesHell no!! It's a frikkin video game, you play games for fun!! I had a blast playing with very close friends in D1 and will have a blast playing D2 with the same close friends!
-
3 RepliesNope! Bailed out of this game a couple years ago.

I dont care about the armor and i will get over the weapons. I want shaders, emblems, emotes, holiday stuff, ships, and sparrows. I should be able to be told from a Day 1 Destiny 1 player from a Destiny 2 player..." thats not fair, you have more stuff then them"... yes it is fair. I put my time and money into the game when they could have done the same thing but chose not to.

3 RepliesEvery time we get a DLC we kinda go through a reset imo. I've been here since beta. I never use my VoG, Crota or Kings Fall gear. Every time we have a DLC we have to grind our light levels again. I'm looking forward to a fresh start. Only thing I want to carry over are my emblems. Shame I switched to PS4 in yr 2. No founders emblem for me but I think our yr1, yr2 and yr3 emblems will carry over at least.

Time is not wasted if you enjoyed yourself. Personally, I did - still do. We have no details as yet on what is happening with Destiny 2, it may not make sense to carry it over lore-wise.
-
Skimmed it. Didnt bother to actually read. If you just got the game then yeah you wasted your money. If youve been on the game for, maybe, a year then you got your moneys worth in fun. Seeing your childs face shoot bad guys. Cheering after a victory. The point of a game is to entertain and relax. Side note. Its your own fault for gambling. Ex. Tess Everese.

So did nobody play Destiny for fun? I didn't grind to rub it in peoples faces or to show off, i did it because it was fun. I'll do it in Destiny 2 with a fresh start, because games are fun even if my past efforts don't show. I can't be alone on this.

Working is Grinding. If your rewarded money or gear, that work is time well spent no matter what the job.
-
Nope because the grind and play was for fun .... the point of it, it's not a job Destiny two will also be the same
-
Not disappointed at all. I dumped almost a thousand hours in and im still happy with a fresh start. Out with the old, in with the new.

Someone else posted something similar as a response but for me it was dead on... After being a gaurdian for 3 yrs and having done mostly everything there is to do, you have to invent stuff to keep you playing. I really don't care about the darkness and feel that my character is too powerful at this point to care either. One of the grimiore cards mention how your gaurdian defeated atheon, crota, oryx and that you were naturally a perfect choice. But after Siva and aksis you really get the feeling of an old knight with no enemies or conquest left. Bunch of super powerful gaurdians sitting around waiting for the next big thing to go hurry up and stomp out in a few days. I was against starting over, but I almost feel it's necessary.
-
"Was your time wasted?" I think that depends on your answer to "did you have fun grinding and building your character?" Because if you didn't, then why the hell did you play the game for three years?
-
Bout a month and a half on all three of your chars, I would say that was money well spent. Things progress. Move on. Do you really want to look like you came out of Taken King in the middle of Y8?
-
And there are those players that just grind away no matter the game. They get their team together and play for ten hours straight. New or old it doesn't matter to them. Get that fancy gear and weapons then bitch at those that don't play as well as them. D2 will give them the chance to start over grinding and bitching.
