No Land Beyond: Rant

Please tell me why some of you guys on the forums think No Land Beyond is OP or takes no skill to use. I am curious what your line of thinking is because.... (1) it doesn't even have that high AA. (2) reload glitch doesn't always work, and the misfire can get you killed. (3) It may say it is a Medium/High Impact type but it starts you off with a 292 Headshot until "The Master" is active. (4) You still have a ridiculous flinch when being fired at, and unless the target is standing still most NLB users won't land the headshot in mid-fire fight. (5) No one said anything about it until they nerfed snipers across the board and Clever Dragon became the meta. Literally everyone that complains about NLB only started when the new Clever-Meta started. (6) You may spawn with Ammo but you lose having an actual primary. Like seriously? Everyone bitching when they have the most OP set up in the game. If you miss your shot, the Clever Dragon or Matador will eat you alive every time (Hell even TLW users do). (7) NLB is only as good as your aim, it is not very forgiving with headshots because of the unique sight. (8) It isn't a weapon that anyone can pick up and get kills with (Like the Clever Dragon or Mapadork) (9) Mulligan sometimes -blam!-s up your reload glitch attempt so you have to wait to fire your weapon anyways. (10) It was rated the most underused and useless exotic in the beginning. Hell people asked for buffs or tweaks with it because it was underused. Now that it is being used, people are calling it OP or needs a nerf? Shame on all of you who disrespect NLB and it's good name. Pick it up yourself and use it until the update happens (see how OP it is then). *Edits/Update* I had no idea my rant was going to be getting this many likes and responses. Thank you all who have discussed this, it has brought some insight and I would like to share some of my thoughts about what people are saying about the gun. *Edit/Update #2* A couple comments made me realize I could of been a little lengthy with my first edit and could of seemed like I was singling out some responses. Removed to keep to the point. *Edit 3* Critical is 292-293. Confirmed. Have a great night Guys, I am tired and I enjoyed all the responses. It was fun and did not expect to see this post trend like it has. It was simply me getting my frustrations out of people bashing my current favorite exotic. Have a wonderful day Guardians. Use what you like. Whether OP or not, because come the 14th this meta will change and NLB will still be my baby.

      •
It was rated the most underused and useless exotic in the beginning.
I miss when Universal Remote was like that. Average Forum User: "Why are you using that weapon? It's not even worth the exotic slot. There are sooo many better weapons that can be used..." *Universal Remote suddenly becomes overpowered* The Same Forum User: "Its haz tu beh nurved! its haz ranj adn amo! its haz les ranj then matadur butt univerzal reemotes ranj iz opie and knot matodurs becuz lojic. i suk aht tis gaym! Fixs yur gaym, Bunjie!" *sigh* Well, I guess it was going to happen to No Land Beyond as well eventually...

        • Same reason why legendary snipers were somewhat OP in year 2, lack of flinch.

People complain when they die. If people started to use a cotton ball tomorrow and people died to cotton balls they would scream about how OP cotton balls are. Here's the thing. Most of these whiny bitches are your general players. 90 percent of players are doo doo at this game. The fact I have a 1.2 and that puts me in the top 20% having not given a flying -blam!- about K:D until year 3 vindicates my thought process above. PS for all you morons thinking NLB has no flinch pick one up and try. It HAS flinch. Just slightly less cause you're not zoomed with a scope.

          • After using NLB for the past 3-4 weeks religiously, I can honestly say that the NLB has zero flinch. Aesthetically, it flinches you as much as a but not forgotten or 1k stare would, but it doesn't actually flinch you. I've had quite a few kills where I'm being melted by a clever dragon, my scope would be way above his head, I'd shoot and then get a headshot. NLB isn't op, but it's the best no-flinch sniper out there

            • Just relax and keep killing them with nlb. Those who can't adapt to fight it just complain about it. So, relax and keep killing them. Eventually they will learn to duck.......eventually.

              • Just two comments: 1) AA with Soft Ballistics is 60. Nothing to sneeze at. 3) Headshot deals 280-something (think it's 284 with Soft and 291 with anything else but don't quote me on it) Other than that, I agree. It's a skill weapon with a sizable learning curve. The flinch is only visual (which is why you can snipe through primary fire) but it's still hard to shoot through as your line of sight is completely obscured. People need to stop complaining. This thing was universally regarded as total shit until the last sniper nerf.

              • Right now primaries are horrendous unless you use a clever dragon archetype pulse or hand cannons and even those are unreliable at times. Nlb users like having the ability to combat long and close range with either a side arm or shot gun. The trick with getting head shots is what needs to be addressed with the No land. While it is a "skill," in the current meta, it need to be addressed. If all primaries, besides fast rof pulses, are buffed substantially, then I would suggest leaving it be.

                • Same thing happened to universal remote, it becomes a sort of low key meta and people start complaining.

It was one of the most used weapons in trials this weekend... That usually says that there is something good about the gun that no other weapon possesses. I used to use no land beyond every trials but now that it has grown in popularity I can't stand to use it. I have now switched to fusion rifles as a special main. Fusions and sidearms are the ones I feel like take the most skill in terms of play style.

                • Because........ 1) People put dots on their screen. They put that dot on someone's head. They get flinched by clevor dragon and the reticle starts to jump around like a fat kids titties. They disregard the reticle and use the dot to aim, fire, the gun will be pointing straight up in the air..... but they will be getting headshots. 2) Shotgun warriors don't use primaries so having another secondary is welcomed among them. 3) Sidearms are basically a primary and have good range/time to kill.

                • The fact that I'm dying from it so much tells me it's to easy to use. And the flinch is non existent, it moves on screen but the bullet goes where it was aimed. I expect that to be changed soon

                • I've just seen a lot of players just hard scope with it. Defeating the purpose of the high risk, high reward of the NLB

                  • I get annoyed with this gun for a few reasons: 1) Does it even have flinch? I can't tell you how many times I am laying into somebody only to have them pull off a seamless head shot. I have had this happen quite often unlike other sniper rifles. 2) The range. C'mon it has iron sights and can still pull off shots at range, and can even do it when getting shot at. That is just rediculous. This gun definitely takes skill to use, but seems like the guys that have mastered it have the ability to one hit kill in every situation. That makes the gun op.

Only read the first point that it has low aim assist... 60 aim assist is better than most

I've used No Land/Sidearm as one of my favorite loadouts since HoW. I'm 10 kills from breaking 7k kills with it and I only have 15k sniper kills in Crucible. The thing people don't understand is the gun has gone through next to no change since then, except for nerfs(Honestly, the ADS nerf to snipers screwed with me for ages on No Land and it took me a while to get back to normal with it). The closest thing to a "buff" it's ever received was when revive shields were adjusted, allowing NLB to finally res-snipe without The Master active. The only reason people bitch about it now is that every other sniper got the dick so hard. It still takes a skilled hand to properly use No Land however. I see many people running No Land/Matador because they feel this will help them do well, and I still outsnipe them with no issues. Bandwagoning the gun is not going to guarantee you kills and winning firefights, like Clever Dragon and Matador. Having used the gun for so long with so many people saying things like "Why? That gun is terrible.", it makes me sad to see it gaining such a bad reputation when there's truly nothing wrong with it. EDIT: I'd also like to note I don't use the reload glitch. I'm trash at it and it -blam!-s me more than it ever helps me, so I just don't even try anymore.

                        • Yea this weekend in trials I shot a guy with 2 pulses from my clever dragon from mid-close range and as my 6th bullet landed he still headshot me through the flinch with a headshot. All but one of my 6 bullets that landed was a critical hit (headshot). pretty sure this gun is supposed to be called No Flinch Beyond

                        • There are two types of NLB wielder... Type 1: the truly skilled hand. How to counter: hide and don't peek! Type 2: the bluffer. How to counter: switch to NLB

                        • It doesn't have flinch, if you watch videos of it you can see the reticle and the barrel of the gun are literally two separate objects. The barrel will be pointing towards the sky yet you shoot and the bullet goes wherever the reticle is. If it just didn't have flinch fine, but why have visual flinch yet you're still able to shoot straight? I don't like it because it's a pot luck gun, if I get killed by someone who's got the drop on me before I shoot them fair play but when I shoot someone mid range with high cal rounds first and they still have a good chance of landing a headshot it's not right. People don't use it because they can aim, they use it because they can't use a proper primary.
