Sadly it's true.
For some of us with disabilities it's a meaningless (and at times hurtful) phrase thrown at us.
Our KDs are laughed at
Our ELO becomes the topic of mirth.
But we carry on regardless.
Why ?. Because our struggle is real. Every little achievement is that much sweeter because we've worked for it. It's not a natural gift of split second reflexes and hand-eye coordination but a slow often painful process where we've died a million times before doing something you've probably done in your sleep.
To anyone out there who has befriended, supported, teamed with or match made with someone with a disability,
Thank you.
Edit : this was meant as a thank you. Unfortunately I've been accused of demanding sympathy, pity, playing the disabled card etc. I have re-read what I wrote and I'm pretty sure I'm thanking people for their friendship and support...
But I will try again.
Thank you. Thank you for making Destiny enjoyable.
Is that clearer ??

1 ReplyI cant git gud because i just suck and my girlfriend is the same but man am I proud of her. She wont quit, loves the game and even plays trials. She used to not be able to kill a dreg! This game is best enjoyed with friends and loved ones and being kind to those that are struggling can be the most rewarding. I thank everyone who encourages and helps.

1 ReplyDon't let the jerks on here get you down! Kudos for your perseverance! I have issues that impede my ability to play guitar (muscle tremors and a bilateral deformity that renders both of my pinkie fingers useless), but I love music and will never stop playing. I might not be a virtuoso but I still play and love doing so. Keep doing what you do, Guardian!

3 RepliesI only tell people who shot gun and thorn to get gud. I also tbag them but, they chose it. That's your destiny, thorn shot gun and blink. I tbag you. Because I simply am. Better.than.that. But I've never been flawless, I barely maintain a 1.00 k.d and I love me for who I am.

Ayy disabilities are not something to be used as an excuse, but something to make you a better version of yourself. As soon as you make excuses because of a disability, you fail to grow. No matter what, anyone can infact git gud, or at least git gudder than they used to be. Become top tier? Maybe not. But was that ever really the point? Or was the point to be better than yourself.

3 RepliesI know I guy who has one hand that could probably outplay nkuch. It's about practice

Haha, ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha. Ah ha hahaha ah aha ah haha hahaha ah ahhahaha. Yeah. Seems pretty much to be the case.

5 RepliesSee the thing is I don't find the disabilities arguement relevant considering I myself have disabilities and I have over come them to be in the Top 1% in most aspects of this game for PvP. (Autistic and slight dyslexia with a messed up hand.) Just some people get the way the game should work and others don't. That's all there is to it really.

Git gud

1 ReplyWhat do you mean you can't "git gud"!? Just because you might have a mental disability doesn't mean you can improve ..
-
You can't get gud at a game that isn't gud ;)
-
2 RepliesTry harder
-
2 RepliesI have 0 disabilities but still can't get good lol
-
1 ReplyDisability or not, the vast majority will never git gud. You're not on the own. If I want to see a lighthouse I go to the coast.
-
I'm pretty good. I've nearly killed 200 guardians!
-
4 RepliesI hate the phrase git gud. Makes you sound like an illiterate hillbilly. People who usually say that are asshats with nothing special in their lives.
-
Maybe we aren't as fast as the other guardians or it may take longer but with time comes excellence you see my hands are so weak that I can't even run in game but I still have 15 exotics and top 10 percent of all 8 million guardians. So take your time and rub your enemies faces in dirt as you stab them with your sword. Oh and any missions that seem hard just shoot the boss in the god dang face! Join clan super slayers we get u to be gud.

2 RepliesPlay games for the enjoyment of playing ,if you don't enjoy playing don't play. Don't worry about what other people think about it and when they give you a bunch of salt , pop some pop corn and keep on playing as long as you are having fun doing so , just don't crunch the pop corn while you have your mike on .

I get more laughs out of this forum than I ever got out of Dandy, Beano , Viz thank you all for making me laugh

I don't give it a shit about Elo and kd. Sometime I challenge myself with some underrated gun such as Green Scout with LitC (1 out of 14 is a bit too much 😅). Just enjoy you game and forget the haters.

2 RepliesI remember being in a HM Crota group with this guy that had a disability so he was playing one handed. He had to sit in the little rooms on top of a door frame to get line of sight and it didn't hamper our Crota kill at all. We did it in 2 tries with him because Crota bugged on us the first time. Also, it was the non-disabled people that died in that raid.
