I say remove the 3 loses.
Simple as that, you want to know why so many casuals are leaving now? It's not only the sweaty Trials streamers or just mlg players who enjoy denying people from setting foot into the Lighthouse, it's also because of the intimidation of those losing 3 wins.
I will definitely get a lot of hate from elitist and sweaty Trials players who enjoy denying people hopes and dreams of getting to the lighthouse
cause well lets face it, it's the only thing they got going for them in life's satisfaction
I suggest we remove the 3 loses, this way it may fix the problems of the increased amount of casual players avoiding Trials in general. Sure it will take people a long time to get 9 wins (more then others I'd should say) but at least it would appeal to more players and new streamers starting out who want to play Trials every weekend.
I know I will get lots of hate from those who think they are almighty champions who needs to feed their ego. But let's face it, Trials at the moment is dwindling in interest. I see no one wants to play it and I don't blame them. If we can fix this maybe more people can have a chance at participation without intimidation of the 3 loses in the back of their mind and just concentrate on having fun in a competitive game mode.
Dear Cozmo I hope you can see this post after the amount of hate comments I will be receiving.
Btw it's just a game guys enjoy it, have fun!
Also can we talk about spawn flipping perhaps in Trials that would freshen up the experience.

1 ReplySee for me, it has nothing to do with my PvP skill as to why I rarely set foot into ToO. I am not a bad player, but I am NOWHERE in the same league as some of these top notch players. Even so, I would not back down should I be placed against them. Yes I will cuss if my head is blasted off the moment I think I have my shot lined up, but that is usually my reaction in normal PvP. I am rarely in ToO because most of the people on my friends list are either not on when I am during the weekend, or they are already in matches with a full team. I have come to accept I may never make it back to the Lighthouse (made it there once back in y1), but I would still like to get on sometimes and just have fun. Hell, I still need to complete part the part of my RoI book that requires completing passages, and that may end up being the only one I do not end up completing and all I need to do it is 5 times lol. Oh well, I will continue working on getting better at areas I feel I need the work (no more shotguns for me thanks, snipers are what I use now).

4 RepliesGo to a two-tier system. Every week once you go to the lighthouse you only play other Lighthouse winners. That way it's truly a competitive thing and people don't get pub stomped as often
-
3 RepliesMaybe just one free card each week and then the rest are as usual. No losses would make trials just a grindfest
-
I dont know about you but every freaking PVP match is sweaty as -blam!- for me. Regular Skirmish is like crazy sweaty! And let alone if you play with a friend who is better than you. The game will become so crazy that I get ready to murder the cocksuckers at bungie who created the matchmaking system!
-
The first week of RoI the player base of ToO was nearly 900,000 accounts it barely broke 300,000 this past weekend it will continue to drop as people put this game down.

10 RepliesEdited by Cosmic Zaa: 12/21/2016 12:47:53 PMTrials will soon either: 1.) Be barren of players other than the top .1% 2.) Be removed completely for lack of players. 3.) Change better suited for casuals. Stats have shown that trials had 900,000+ participants when ROI dropped. It has declined in players every weekend and this weekend had only about 100,000 participants. It's been on a steady decline and soon will only have a few hundred players left if they dont change something. It has not sat at a specific number and if it does it'll be at an all time low We all know how bungie changes things to be better for casuals. Trials was said to not be for casuals, however bungie has said things and then changed them.

They should just open it up as a social space. I don't really care of people get there or not. Many just want it for the grimoire cards. Hell, even make it 9-1 or 9-2 you go to the lighthouse. You only get ornaments though if you go 9-0. I think that's a reasonable idea.
-
Nah, then there is literally no point to trials, it's just normal crucible with above average rewards, that's insanely idiotic. People in the comments have pretty good ideas about a win negating a loss or a loss takes away a win. However, I don't think it needs to be changed at all. If they want to throw in an extra reward at 9 wins on a card, that's fine by me, but the lighthouse shouldn't be something that's easy to attain
-
I honestly think you should be allowed to get up to 2 losses and a mercy loss and still be able to go to the lighthouse. So as usual the card after 3 losses without a mercy completes the card. If you have the mercy you get 4 losses. They honestly only have to change the fact a non mercy loss still allows you to go to the lighthouse as long as you haven't hit 3 non mercy losses which completes the card. Therfore, you change nothing aesthetically about it. This allows less experienced players a chance if they get matched with streamers on their 9th game twice in a row. Thus, bringing more mid and lower tier players back to trials.
-
3 RepliesIMO the best way to fix this is: 1. Get rid of the boons completely, and just make it to where you automatically have a mercy and only have to make it to 7 wins to go flawless. This removes a system that is kinda stupid since most people just delete their card if they lose before their 5th win anyways. 2. Make people that have already gone flawless on that character only play against people that are also flawless that week. Meaning after you go flawless on all three of your characters then you will only be put up against flawless teams. This removes two of the biggest complaints that most people have with trials in its current rendition. There are less people that can just be straight out carried because streamers/carriers can only carry three people. This also alleviates the problem of people unable to go flawless. With the new system, everybody will be able to go flawless with enough persistence. Now I can already hear the complaints that trials is only supposed to be for the "hardcore" player, but things need to change. Trials participation is down almost 50 percent since the launch of ROI, and that number is steadily decreasing, and will soon begin to spiral. Players like myself that are good, but not top tier will soon start to fall off as the competition becomes even more stiff. Hopefully with changes like the ones above we can keep the community healthier, longer.
TLDR trials needs a few changes where it's still competitive, but average/above average players have a better chance, or the game will die even faster.
It's for the best only. So only these guys get to go:
super sweat steamers and DoS'rs
Ya I avoid trials like the plague when people ask me to play with them it's just super frustrating. Now when I see people wearing flawless gear it's nothing special to me because you could very well be one that was carried to the lighthouse. There is no shader that looks good with the ornaments anyway to me and my opinion unless they came out with a pastel pink shader with no black and maybe some orange. This is just MY opinion of course your free to like the look but I don't.
-
2 RepliesI understand you frustration. It is a tough thing. If you are like me ( grimior nerd ) unfortunately it is a part of the game that not everyone will succeed at. I'm still trying to get my doubles grimior complete. But with time patience and one hell of a grind you will get it one day.

Play CoD before hopping in Trials. You will wreck Destiny players as you feel like flash watching everything move in slow motion. Play Titanfall before Trials and Destiny will feel frozen and you will think the game is glitched out.
-
I gind it bizzare that trials had the least skill based match making in the game before the patch. I feel like this is the place where they beed to implement it which would mean people who maybe arent as skilled could still go 9-0

28 RepliesEdited by Man Torpedo FTW: 12/20/2016 6:24:04 PMTrials has proven that it brings the worst out of the community. Paid carries, hate mail, special snowflake syndrome, etc. I am absolutely enchanted too when elitists say that "Trails isn't for casuals." I hate to break it to them but Destiny isn't a hardcore in-depth RPG. It's a console exclusive casual game. No matter how you slice it, It's CoD levels of cuckery. By the way, only about 16-20% of all the players in Trials alone make it to the lighthouse each weekend. About a little under a million play a weekend. Many are repeat players who go every weekend. Which means that there is another massive percentage of people who aren't even enticed to try it. So I assume that out of the entire population of Destiny players, the percentage has ever even been to the lighthouse is easily a single digit number. So then Bungie claims it's difficult to give us content constantly, while running a weekly event that no one wants to play. Sounds a bit like shooting yourself in the foot of you ask me. But they keep it this way to keep less than a tenth of the community content with being special snowflakes. Plus they already have an extra special emblem for players who are actually good at PvP. If you have lighthouse gear but no scarab you are either a. A cheater b. Know people who are above average players (or cheaters), or c. An above player yourself. You are not a PvP god. i think its ok the way it is but if your gonna change something to make it a lil easier just make boons work they way they did in year 1 where you can use them at any point in the card.
-
Like what others are saying. Make it that 9-0 gives you the adept versions and ornaments while 9-1, 9-2 and 9-3 don't give them.
-
2 RepliesYeah that's gonna be a no from me dawg
-
1 ReplySpawn flipping seriously is a must in Trials. There are way too many maps which give the other team the advantage for Heavy, height or whatever. As for the removing losses entirely, it would remove the entire use of Trials, so no. Changing it to 9 win = lighthouse, disregarding the losses would be better. At least that would keep people going on instead of dumping the coin with 1 loss
-
-
1 ReplyI just want to know how many characters go to the lighthouse. Not how many times the light house is achieved. Would be interesting to see total visits vs. unique visits.
-
I'm an average PVPer, but I used to run trials most weekends for bounties. In year two you could get a decent trials weapon like the Glass Promontory or the Doctrine of passing from the gold bounty, it just wasn't Adept. So we got to enjoy using new guns, and the elite players were still identifiable by their Adept versions. Now in year three as all I can get is year two armor for bounties, I have less motivation to suffer being pub-stomped at the hands of the elite. If bungie made bounty rewards more current again I think more average players would return.
