Thorn is terrible now the range is terrible but not only that the exotic perk which is supposed to make it powerful is useless the damage over time is to little, the quest is super long and all you get is terrible exotic
Edit: Cozmo has replied! But please still vote and bump this post just in case, so it is very likely thorn will be receiving a buff soon

That dude was like my brother, look at him now, poor thing, he should be like me, or my cousin Iron Gjallarhorn.

72 RepliesIt's something to consider. Thorn has always been a polarizing topic. Thanks for posting your feedback. I'll make sure the designers know that you would like a buff.

Thorn is trash, keep it that way.

Edited by sjshady0169: 10/15/2016 2:52:17 PMThis is a perfect example of where Bungie nerfed a weapon one too many times and no one was calling for another nerf. Now you have a weapon that's too weak to compete in crucible. Thorn was probably at it's most balanced two nerfs ago IMO. Then it still had some range and DOT damage. It's kind of a waste to do all this work to get a weapon that most people won't end up using after completing the quest for it.

9 RepliesPeople really have a short memory; or, many of you weren't around during House of Wolves and the reign of the hand cannon. I like Thorn and I've used it a bit with 4,508 kills between PVE and PVP, but I think bringing it back to it's glory days is a bad idea for PVP. PVE is a different thing entirely, bring it back to it's most potent form and give it a huge Viking Funeral type buff. That would be great. Just not for PVP.

2 RepliesNo it's not a long quest. Second its a fine gun its a handcannon not a rifle get over it. Also the artifact helps keep thorn in place if you don't use the artifact your more likely to die. It's power an by power I mean impact is what kills the poison damage is meant to be extra help. As for its effectiveness in pve well I blame ever whining little rat from pvp gameplay.

Buffing thorn is dangerous. Id sugest a entire re master Damage over time as it is right now but instead of luck in the chamber, have a perk where "Reloding when your super is full grants a unusually large mag that drains your super energy when fired, but deals more dot damage"
-
It only needs buffed in pve
-
I think it would be dangerous to buff thorn. Remember year one??
-
Only if Red Death gets a buff as well
-
The quest drop rate needs a buff.

Edited by AR IS4 NUBS: 10/14/2016 7:48:00 PMThorn needs to be Y1 version. If the 7 for "bleed" damage is too much, then bump it down to 4 or 5.
-QA Test Engineer (a.k.a. AR IS4 NUBS)
Nope. Dont want that fiasco again.
-
Why? What's your logic besides that you want to be able to kill people quicker? If you want it to be as OP as it used to be, then maybe you should just ask to make it the only primary weapon because that's the only one people would use.
-
Gjallar-Man hasn't used Thorn since the April Update, but enjoyed it enough. A 3 body shot is too strong though. Perhaps 1 headshot and 2 body shots should along with poison should be enough to kill low armor guardians. That way it's a bit stronger than the regular 81 impact handcannon so it'll merit it's exotic slot and has enough poison to be useful and not just 2 seconds of no recovery.
-
Maybe if you attack others in the effective range, you want get massacred attempting to kill players. Just like a shotgun. Can't expect to kill shit if I'm literally out of the range, where they'll be damage fall off.
-
3 RepliesI don't play PVP so all this care about is it's performance in PVE which currently sucks, Thorn needs a buff.
-
If it gets its range back it'd perfect. Really good, not OP.
-
You know what would fix it?
Removing it. Boom. Thorn is now at a good place.
-
3 RepliesNo buff. They never should have brought it back.
-
2 RepliesEdited by msqar: 10/13/2016 6:47:32 PMThe quest is super long? seriously??? the quest is super short lol... year 1 thorn was way "harder" to get. Although i think it needs a buff, the weapon itself sucks... the DoT is too low, the crit damage is low compared to other hand cannons, and also, tones of ghost bullets due to the low range. So yea, is not the best primary out there... but i don't want a lot of douches using it coz it's OP like in year 1-2 before nerf. Imo they just need to reduce the ghost bullets and that's it.

2 RepliesPoll says 31% of the players are to weak to handle a Thorn buff. Since everyone knows Bungie caters to the weak. Thorn will not be adjusted.
-
2 RepliesEVERY SINGLE PERSON who voted against this needing at least a range buff is what is wrong with this community. The DoT doesnt exist especially with memory of silimar. It needs to be restored to its TTK nerfed status aka the pre 25%range reduction. Why do you think it was used by sweat community for such a long time??? Because it had most reliable hit registration. Well now its a flip of a coin if u will hit stationary target at mid range.
-
It does not need a buff. I used it the other day. Still did very well. The only reason people are calling for a bug is the same reason they used it in year 1. A fast firing spray and pray hand cannon. It will be the only hand cannon that can 3 tap the body and still kill. No need to aim for head shoots.
-
4 RepliesI feel like if it was buffed, people using the memory of silimar would just put its damage back down to a 2.
