I've seen a lot of guys requiring guys to be 330+ to join a raid. Why? Are you that bad? Okay that was a little uncalled for, but seriously, level means next to nothing when you can get to 335 without ever being in a raid.
I took a little vacation from my console while I was moving and the max level went from 320 to 335. The HM raid was a cake walk at 310, and after playing it again, it's still a cake walk at 310. I played the other day with a guy almost 10 levels higher than me, and I was teaching him the raid.
A better judge of one's ability to assist in a raid is his emblems, his grimoire raid stats, and the most important his ability to communicate effectively. If you feel you need 330 or higher, you're doing it wrong.
Edit: So many good reply's, even ones that disagree, so I won't try and respond to all of them, but thank you. I hope this conversation has resulted in at least a little education for some. Remember, raid experience and communication skill are the most important factors in a raid. Light level comes in afterwards.

Thank you!!!! I was thinking the exact same.

I think that no matter the light cap, or how long a raid has been out, or how easy it is to carry a group through, some people will always believe they need just about max light teammates to succeed. It's so funny.

1 ReplyLooking for 5 people, 330+, Hard Mode KF, add me on PSN.

11 RepliesLol I Sherpa people through raids, and have dealt with basically every scenario, incompetence, ignorance, people being stubborn and wanting to do something their way when clearly they don't know how it's supposed to work in the first place. People trying to tell me my strategy isn't correct because they watched a video somewhere or they did it once before and used a different strategy so apparently that is the only way to do it. Hell my favorite is when I'm trying to explain a section of the raid to 2-5 new Raiders and they won't shut up focus and listen. Aside from that rant my point is that I have carried people at 290 through an entire hard mode run start to finish, and I'm not talking just one or two I'm talking like 5 and then myself at 335, and those runs have gone smoother than an entire group of 330+ players that claim to know what they are doing yet mess up more the once on each encounter. I have even made new accounts leveled up a fresh character to 290 and made a hard raid team just for fun and had high light players try to bash me tell me I couldn't do it because i was too low. Yet by the end of it they have all died and messed up so much that I'm sitting there laughing at them making them look stupid at 290 light. I've also equipped 300ish blue gear with crap blue guns on my main account just to bring my light down and troll people and pretend I don't know how to do the raid. Meanwhile if the scrubs paid even a little attention they would have noticed my 4930 grimoire lol. Long story short you don't know what you are going to get from lfg or randoms I the tower. Make friends build a team and grind it out together and learn how to compensate for each other. P.S only scrubs need titans for the Kings Fall Raid #HunterMasterRace

4 RepliesCan someone carry me through the raid?

Wouldn't agree more.

Agree 100%. Sadly many people will never understand.

2 RepliesEdited by The BEATDWN: 8/8/2016 5:04:39 PMIt's actually because most of the veterans have fallen off until the RoI drop. I never ask for light or weapon requirements but I understand why they are to a degree. The counter argument is that since max light became so easily achievable these guys running around at 330+ could easily be noobs that have never completed a raid. Completions are the best test of a raider but I rarely check em because I'm OK teaching some noobs here and there now that raid rewards are essentially meaningless to me. Also what console are you on. You can raid with my crew any time.

The raid is not about light level is all about making the Jump Ship puzzle and before the sisters without dying. That's the real test if a person is really experienced at the raid :-)

Edited by Moxxis Playtoy: 8/8/2016 7:53:27 PMIf they want to fap with lotion be my guest I'm not one to judge. Sometime your hands are soft enough where you don't need lotion.

Edited by DaysOfRage: 8/8/2016 11:32:06 PMIt's not really any of your concern what other people do, or how they want to do it.

The first time j did hard mode I was 306 light on accident. Someone posted in the normal section on the forums and k joined them and didn't really feel a difference until someone brought up my light at oryx, and I was like wait this is hard? And they were like yea, but you're doing fine so we'll keep you for now.
-
Most people asking for 330+ are wanting to speed run through it and don't want an under experienced player making things take longer than needed. If you don't like it make your own group and do the raid with whatever requirements you want.
-
Too many fake 335s.
-
At this point I don't get why we all don't chill out for the remainder of year 2.... 310 light? No problem bruh...
-
I did my first hard mode at 307

6 RepliesHM raid is easy at 310? lmao, get six guys together at that light level and try it before making up stories. Yea one guy maybe two and they better play flawless but no way and average party level of 310 is going to fly on hard mode as a CAKE WALK. It was done when HM first came out but it was the OPPOSITE of CAKE WALK
-
First time doing hard mode when it came out I was like 308 and it was fine.... Just scrub things I guess.

3 RepliesSomeone sounds upset and a little fanny flustered.

2 RepliesI used to think that until I spent 19 hours of my time trying to complete the raid with people below 330 they don't have a clue and shit doesn't get done
-
1 ReplyBetter question, does the Grimoire count a Raid completion as just killing the boss? Or going through all the checkpoints in a Weekly Reset. Either way, when you think about it. If the initial was true, then it is another number that can be skewed lol.
No seriously I haven't got a clue on what counts for it...
4 Replies"I've seen a lot of guys requiring guys to be 330+ to join a raid. Why? Are you that bad?" 1) Most people aren't going to search through another players stats on Bungie.net to see if they are capable or not to do a raid. 2) The likelihood of someone knowing what to do with minimal teaching is higher with a player that is at or above 330 than someone who is below it. 3) A player that is higher light level has a greater margin of error in regards to being killed by enemies in the raid than someone who isn't. " If you feel you need 330 or higher, you're doing it wrong." 1) If the people who are making these post weren't able to find people who meet their criteria then you would see post asking for lower light. 2) You always have the option to make your own fireteam. 3) Those requirements aren't out of need its what they want. Not everyone is Saynotorage and willing to Sherpa/ teach players.

Well said, we were smashing Orxy before the level cap changed and now he just get smashed that little bit faster. To all those who say 330+, give them a break, if you wanna help, then help, if not look for a regular raid group and keep yourself to yourself.
