I'm sure there are people out there who are deadly with the Hunter's throwing knives. Maybe enough to call it an unfair advantage to be called a "one hit kill".. I get that, but is a blink strike a one hit kill? Almost always.. Is a shoulder charge a one hit kill?.. Most definitely. Flame shield?.. Yeah😒.. Then I start to pull my hair out and demand it to be a one hit kill.
I get the balance issues.. But let's take the Hunter for what it is.. Weaker than the other class by design. Uses its agility to traverse the battle field with stealth and quickness its strongest allies. The Hunter has not shield if any sort.. (If I'm wrong, please tell me so I can equip it as soon as possible) I'm not complaining 99% of the time.. I'm playing the damn game. I enjoy this game, I want it to be fun. But it's not fun when I'm trading with a Warlock in and out of cover and they already have a shield that I chew up (with my dis 43) plus a little chunk of their health bar.. I pop out of cover to throw a knife, it lands solid upper torso.. I wait.. No kill, fight still on. So I attack, I rush with almost full health turn the corner get only to be melee'd and turn into particles red matter.. It was a good time for a break anyways.
That happened about 25 minutes ago.. I mean.. Really?.. I'm throwing a foot long dagger that has to be calculated almost perfectly with the distance and elevation required to get a headshot.. I hope you guys care, it's not worth it to commit to throw the knives if you know they have no reward. It's the hardest melee to learn with the least benefit. That's not fun. Take another look at the gunslinger's throwing knives.. Thank you. Delta

6 RepliesYou throw a puny knife at a full kevlar / metal helmet, what did you expect would happen?
-
I have actually been killed by them more since the nerf than before. Or it seems that way.

Just copy/paste Deadeye's perk for Circle of Life.
Precision hits do more damage, and precision kills will recharge your super.
1 ReplyGo main defender then whinge.

Flame shield OHK is a super , Teribad comparison

Cut it out......HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Not even a main hunter, but whenever I get a throwing knife to the face, I'm not afraid of it anymore. It's supposed to make the guy back off because he's low. But now, I just charge right through it. Pls buff it back bungie
-
Because Bungie nerfed throwing knives , who knows what's next .

9 RepliesIsn't it unfair how titans and warlocks can always get a 1 hit kill with a melee yet hunters need to strike 2 or 3 times just to get that melee kill? Either Bungie should buff all the Hunter melee abilities, except smoke that's fine, or nerf the titan and warlock melee a to do as much damage as a hunter. Especially warlocks they can one hit and get a shield. That is just an unfair combo if you ask me.

2 RepliesI don't know. I'm still getting plenty of throwing knife kills. I use them as more of a last resort or to finish someone off. Just don't miss the head
-
5 RepliesNothing bothers me more as a gunslinger than when people complain about throwing knives. Shoot your target, finish with knife. If you are unable to shoot someone, then use gamblers dagger and incendiary knife plus khepri's or whatever. Just because you can't get kills with something doesn't mean it's impossible. It just means you're doing it wrong.

4 RepliesBungie obviously didnt like were the throwing knifes were so they fixed them. Deal with it and move on
-
10 RepliesLongest charged melee range in the game. It doesn't need to deal more damage. It already has a rediculously forgiving hitbox, and scores kills that never should've been close
-
The throwing knife is horrible. EVERYTIME I try to melee a shoulder charger it throws a knife a point blank range... Then while I finish the 5 second recovery animation I get storm gripped :( Return it to its old power... I could get a precision kill with one if I could get burn damage. Now it's useless :(

4 RepliesToday i hit a warlock in the face for a solid 79 damage with a throwing knife
-
5 RepliesYes throwing knives should do slightly more damage. But they shouldn't 1 hit. They have so much aim assist, it's crazy.
-
I main a titan but feel they bungie should have left the throwing knife the -blam!- alone. No one ever in the history of destiny complained about the throwing knife. I dread to see how bungie will destroy my shoulder charge.

3 RepliesEdited by Determined_defeatist: 7/23/2016 9:46:12 AMThrowing knifes are indeed less effective than they used to be but they are by no means weak, that being said, i share your opinion that they should be buffed and understand how frustrating pulling off a throwing knife combo, only for the enemy to survive with a pixel of health, is but i do not think a OHK is the way to go(and i am saying that as someone who has mained a GS since beta). My reasoning is that a throwing knife OHK would result in two things because as you have stated there are some really skilled players out there who could make playing against a GS a really obnoxious experience, especially for those who enjoy the up-close and personal play style. A) it would make shot-gunners( and fusion users to a lesser extent) feel they have to use a jug titan rather than the class they enjoy most in order to most effectively combat us gun-slingers. B) it would push some people to abandon their preferred up-close and personal play-style and switch to a sniper play style which they might not like. Personally i think the best way to go would be to revert the damage to what it used to be but tone down incendiary blade or replace it entirely with a new perk.

Fair points but throwing knife is a finisher for my firefights, I pop a shot with First Curse and headshot my knife. Boom dead. I killed so many shoulder chargers like that. I use it a lot in general and I'm not a PvP person, but I'm still capable with it in crucible. Maybe it's your weapon..? Good luck to you regardless though in your search for the right build and playstyle.

1 ReplyNah, throwing knives should at most (even with a head shot) do like 35% damage. But you guys should get a lot more of them. At least 3 that you can throw very quickly in a row with no cool down if you want. Then with stats or armor buff you could possibly have up to 4 or 5. But again they should do very minimal damage.

Someone actually threw a knife at me in IB, think it was the first time this has happened to me since the change and I was confused at first because I didn't notice him throw it but he ran off, didn't make sense, maybe if thought he could OHK still.

15 RepliesYou're a gunslinger, why are you charging them? You stick farther back in your gunfights, that knife is your trusty backup for charging opponents you've already damaged. That warlock you body shot with a sniper still charging? Throwing knife. That titan that ran through your trip mine with a quarter health left? Throwing knife. It's a defensive/finisher style melee. If your using it for solely offense your going to get beat. Throwing knives have never been bad, your just trying to use it in the wrong engagements. By the way the sunsinger melee is only a one hit kill in super and blink strike only with backstabb but your opponent has to be blind to be hit by that or your in inferno playlist.

It's the most fun when you land that headshot, easily the most fun. And that is why the struggle is wig-pealing real.

1 ReplyEdited by Dauntess: 7/23/2016 10:17:19 AMI don't know why they nerfed it. I don't think it was possible to OHK. Even if it was "OP", according to destiny tracker, Gunslinger has the least amount of melee kills vs any other subclass in PvP and that includes the new 3 which have only been available for what? 10 months? Compared to almost 2 years of Gunslinger?
