Throwing Knives are incredibly too weak..

I'm sure there are people out there who are deadly with the Hunter's throwing knives. Maybe enough to call it an unfair advantage to be called a "one hit kill".. I get that, but is a blink strike a one hit kill? Almost always.. Is a shoulder charge a one hit kill?.. Most definitely. Flame shield?.. Yeah😒.. Then I start to pull my hair out and demand it to be a one hit kill. I get the balance issues.. But let's take the Hunter for what it is.. Weaker than the other class by design. Uses its agility to traverse the battle field with stealth and quickness its strongest allies. The Hunter has not shield if any sort.. (If I'm wrong, please tell me so I can equip it as soon as possible) I'm not complaining 99% of the time.. I'm playing the damn game. I enjoy this game, I want it to be fun. But it's not fun when I'm trading with a Warlock in and out of cover and they already have a shield that I chew up (with my dis 43) plus a little chunk of their health bar.. I pop out of cover to throw a knife, it lands solid upper torso.. I wait.. No kill, fight still on. So I attack, I rush with almost full health turn the corner get only to be melee'd and turn into particles red matter.. It was a good time for a break anyways. That happened about 25 minutes ago.. I mean.. Really?.. I'm throwing a foot long dagger that has to be calculated almost perfectly with the distance and elevation required to get a headshot.. I hope you guys care, it's not worth it to commit to throw the knives if you know they have no reward. It's the hardest melee to learn with the least benefit. That's not fun. Take another look at the gunslinger's throwing knives.. Thank you. Delta

  • Throwing knife is not a one hit kill. I've landed dozens of head shots in the current game version with both normal and incendiary knives and never once a kill on a full health guardian.

  • I have never, and I mean NEVER had a one-hit kill with any "normal" melee attack, charged or otherwise, EXCEPT the throwing knife. Headshot. One shot. Dead. Shoulder charge isn't technically a "melee," but it is aggravating. On the other hand, I have been KILLED in one shot by every single melee option out there, including "uncharged." The fact that Hunter Gunslingers can achieve this same effect from ACROSS THE ENTIRE -blam!-ING MAP (take a minute and let that one sink in, I don't think you appreciate the sheer bulshitosity of this simple fact) without even looking where they are flinging their pig-stickers...I'm sorry, you were saying something ignorant about throwing knives being too WEAK? I run all three classes fairly often, and put all three through the paces for every Iron Banner even though I absolutely abhor the Crucible (coming up on Year 3 and it's STILL a glitched-out cesspool of inconsistent bullshit) and near as I can figure, hunter melee's are among the STRONGEST, with the exception of the Nightstalker's "Smoke" (that thing is useless). Warlock melees have a (very slight) advantage over Titan's in reach only (particularly the Stormcaller's) but all three Warlock subclass melees rank only marginally above Titan Sunbreaker melees in terms of attack power. Titan Strikers have the strongest melee, followed by Defenders. For some reason Sunbreakers got the bottom of the barrel. While any other melee from any other class/susbclass I've used can take a PvP opponent down in two hits, I've never taken an opponent down with less than 3 using a Sunbreaker, which is BS, pure and simple. But again, throwing knives have the longest range, are the ONLY melee attacks with a chance of dealing critical damage, and, as the name implies, YOU THROW THE DAMN THING! Which, in case you're not following the train here, means you don't actually have to put yourself in range of other melees, shotguns, swords, and even certain hand cannons, sidearms, and heavy machine guns, which means you can "melee" with impunity from a safe distance and STILL get a one-hit kill. So no, sorry, but throwing knives do NOT need a PvP buff.

    • Return the damage back to normal plz. Why should a knife stab do more than a knife throw. As for the burn, I hope they fix the "bug" soon

    • This game is all about adapting and over coming change. I main a Hunter, and love Gunslinger. Pre-nerf throwing knives were one hit kills. Add the second knife perk and the precision kill reset perk, and you have a deadly opponent that can kill from a distance without firing a bullet. What other class offers that? Not to mention the power of poison smoke for Nightstalkers. Now, after-nerf, I put a couple of rounds with my scout to your head, then throw my knife. Different approach, same result. The point that I'm trying to make is that you can't stop change. Adapt and overcome.

      • I would love to see a buff to the throwing knife but at the of the day it's a knife hitting a helmet.. So I think maybe just a few more points of damage and that's it.. My opinion anyways

      • Gunslinger used to be my favorite subclass to use when I used my hunter. I agree that the nerf really sucks. I used to love sticking trip mines and throwing knife people in the head. I wish they would change it back. But what has the Warlock have to do with it? I usually play on my warlock and can only ask this..."How does it feel"? All the Hunters complaining about warlocks are getting a taste of their own. (Not that your necessarily one of those people) but I kind of picked up that vibe. Damage just doesn't register a lot of times, and to point the finger at a different subclass is just not the solution. CONTACTING DESTINY SERVERS everyday now. It's getting so ridiculous I'm finding myself slowly growing tired and annoyed of playing one of my favorite games ever. Sorry to go off topic, and if I misunderstood your comment. Just needed to vent I guess.

          Its a simple fix: make trip mines stick again. You don't have to increase damage. And make throwing knives a OHK only if headshot, and with the DOT. So that way knife juggler wouldn't be op. And everyone would use incendiary... I think we all do anyways. Still require skill for headshot. And if they red death/suros you, before the DOT gets em, they can live. Seems legit.

            • "Hardest to use knife" are you crazy? You know how easy it is to get headshots with that damn thing.if anything nerf that sht. Ppl will be one shot and pull a headshot outta their ass and kill u-.- love how much skill is involved in this

                The only way that they are weak is when it comes to landing a headshot with them... That should be an instant kill. Shoulder charge is a one hit kill, so precision hits with throwing knife should be as well.

              • They have infinite range. One body shot with a hand canon and a throwing knife headshot is almost always a kill. They're fine imo.

                  • Classes need some utility tweaks, I think, but they've more or less fallen into a little balance. It's the weapon game that needs the big fix.

                  • I've mained a GS since the game released and I am seriously contemplating switching to a Titan main for crucible. The GS has absolutely nothing going for it whatsoever. The grenades suck, the throwing knife is horrible and the melee is the worst in the game by far. And you can get melted in your super from a couple of shots. There is no reason for me to use GS anymore except for sentimentality..... Bungie nerfed the shit out of it for no reason. RIP GS.

                      As a gunslinger I think throwing knives and tripmines and incendiaries should be brought up to what they used to be. We don't have any bs spammy abilities, shields, over shields, evades, self healing, etc... All we have is our guns and our abilities. That's why I think they should buff tripmines back to 194 damage, throwing knife back to 158, burn damage back to 7 per tick. Buff swarms even more, they are still useless tbh lol. Skips are better in every single way.

                      • What it needs to do is kill people who no longer have shields, like an added effect "[i]precision hits do more damage to unshielded enemies[/i]". Can't sstand it when I delete an enemies shield and use my throwing knife but they're left with just a sliver of health and I've died from a shouldercharge or shotgun...
